Is cassettes really worth getting into?
Vinylfag here. Serious question.
I would say they are, especially since cassettes are so outdated they're pretty easy to find great titles for cheap in the stores that still carry cassettes. One of my local stores sells all cassettes for 1.50 and I've gotten some great stuff, Tool, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, and more.
>Inferior quality
>Tape hiss
>Having to wind through to get to the song you want
Yeah, totally worth it
I'm into vinyl too, a lot more actually. But there are a lot of cool labels putting stuff out on cassette that isn't being released on vinyl
>2016
>not listening to an album as the singular art piece it was meant to be
>Implying you're listening to individual songs on cassette and not full albums.
>Modern Baseball
How do you live with yourself?
there are labels specialized in cassetes, mostly for experimental/electronic music
I don't have a single cassette (which is funny because I've released an album on cassette) and I do like vinyl more, but I wouldn't mind getting into tape, can't be as bad as CDs.

oh no user you fell for it :(
I've never listened to it I actually got this as a lot on eBay.
I know prominent vaporwave labels do specialise cassette releases. Business Casual, Dream Catalogue, Bedlam Tapes, etc.
that makes sense though since cassettes were a prominent part of the era vaporwave samples from/satirizes
I like the idea, it really allows artists to dip their toes in the physical release realm.
