lets go motherfrickers

ERG/B are good !

classic vibe strats any good?

anyone have any testimonials of going from not being able to play anything at all to "knowing?"

i wanna learn but i feel like i'm incompetent

yes, I love those guitars. Just don't buy it at guitar center

>motherfrickers

homie im a broke-ass touring musician im buying it where it's cheapest

In my experience, you have to enjoy playing to get good. The more you practice, the better you become, and, consequently the more you enjoy playing.

That said, the single most important thing for any guitarist who's starting out, besides tone, is getting an instrument that is extremely playable that is set up to your preferences. Don't cheap out on a set up from a reputable luthier or tech. You won't regret having one.

Also, some people will say it doesn't matter. But get a guitar and rig that you enjoy hearing. Otherwise, just have fun. Don't put any unrealistic expectations on yourself. Eventually, if you play enough it will all come naturally.

when i can't get anything going i just noise jam until i get something interesting

I'm not going to write a novel on that but it's what most guitarists did, some started with some theory knowledge from other instruments (Shawn Lane learned guitar in about six months because he was already good at piano)
What you need is to be curious, dedicated, and able to see your own mistakes. The last one is critical, some people rely too much on their strong points and end up repeating themselves

>he thinks playing guitar is impressive

>'touring musician'
>has never played a squier

Something's not adding up here.

Definitely this; guitar is actually pretty easy if you have a decent understanding of theory and intervals. It doesn't get challenging until you start learning barre chords, and even then you just need some patience and persistence.

He might have had started on an Epi/First Act/GIO, Squier isn't the only cheap brand.

NANI?

post tone machines

Learned from a book I checked out of the library like 15 years ago from not knowing a damn thing about guitar/music at all. You just have to realize that going from learning to playing takes time and you're going to fuck up a lot along the way. EVERY single musician was incompetent at first, unless you're one of those retarded savants.

For a good confidence boost, find a band/artist you like who's guitar tracks are super simple so that you can play along with. I played along with a lot of Tom Petty for chords and Led Zeppelin for riffs. Both not extremely complicated but are very powerful in their songs.

Also, when you start getting the hang of it, my suggestion is find a means of recording your playing and listening to it played back. I learned this way late in life but made huge difference in my own critique. All the little technical mistakes you might be making you won't notice as your playing until you listen back to it. The sooner you fix those little things, the less time they'll be bad habits that are hard to break

no you weab

>noticed yesterday that I've actually had terrible bass technique for the last 5 years
>spend an hour today playing scales at 10 BPM making sure to keep my wrist straight, fingers curled, etc.

feels good man

what's the best 70-100w guitar amp I can get for less than $350?

>fingers curled
It's a fucking bass you retard

Why the hell do you need a 70 watt guitar amp? Buy a fucking PA you imbecile.

why are you so hostile you autist?

>

>he thinks shitposting every thread is impressive

...

Wut? Just because it's a bass doesn't mean that my pinky doesn't have a bad habit of flying up into the air whenever I take it off the fretboard.

recommend me an amp to record on since apparently i can't just buy an amp head and plug it into my interface

learn to use plugins you retard we've gone over this in the last thread

idk what plugins are

here let me introduce you to a wonderful tool
>google.com/

no i don't want to use a virtual instrument, if i wanted to use my computer to make music i'd be on /prod/. i'm trying to get away from using my interface, not rely on it even further

Can someone redpill me on analog/boutique pedals? Also interested in flanger recs

good luck recording anything without an interface then

So if you had a proper amp, how would you record it with a mic AND without an interface?

What is the best headless guitar? And what are the benefits to one?

Here is gearspammer's youtube channel:
youtube.com/channel/UC3y0oaUgnKEOzaZoipTD6HA

I think he means your general fretting hand technique, as not curling your fingers as much as you would on the guitar. This way you can mute strings not being played so they don't vibrate, but you probably knew that already.

i'd put my mic into my interface. don't try to twist my words, i mean that i want to sound the same way live that i do after recording on my interface (which sounds nothing like what i sound on my current amp at all)

Then go to your music store with your guitar (and pedals) try different heads+cabs and combos. My favorite amp is most likely not your favorite amp.

people who play instruments just for others shouldnt invest in an instrument anyways

do the cabinets have a big impact on the sound as well? as much as the head?

thanks man!

In that case, you need the amp that sounds best to yours ears. Time to go to the store and do some testing.

Thinking about selling my Telecaster. The tone just doesn't work for the band I'm in. :(

>he fell for the tele meme

I would roughly say that heads are like 70% and cabs 30%

Seriously. I love the way it looks, but it's just not worth it.

alright cheers

More like
>he can't twist a few knobs
>he can't mod his guitar to suit his needs

telecaster!!! AAaaaAAHHHhhhHHHHHHH!!!!

For retrofuturistic 80s coolness. I've heard good things about Steinberger, pic related.

I've already done enough modding on my strat.

As a guitarist how the fuck do you find/start a band when there are ten guitarists for every bassist and drummer?

entice them with pizza and anime

You get better than every other guitarist.

>not knowing more than 1 instrument

pleb

Be one of the better guitarists. Be good at making music. There are a bunch of guitarists, but there really aren't very many good ones

>responding to the most obvious bait

They're light and easy to travel with.
Also available in Gibson™ flavor

git gud

Don't really care that it's bait, just wanted to chip in about people who just want to play to impress

>humbuckers on a tele

...

...

Shut the heck up you dang fricker

> tfw save enough for the amp you wanted
> someone else bought it before you
Fuck this shit bros, it shat over my weekend. Might take a while to find a decent deal and all seller I have contacted have been cunts or haven't replied back.

Thing is I don't want some ugly square thing I want something that is comfortable to play sitting down, not something I can't even play sitting down

Don't worry, I can turn it off. I can see how you would make that mistake though.

...

Why are you even interested in buying a headless then?

Weight reduction and looks

>looks
Your goal is to look stupid?

i have trouble selling my guitar,
can you tell me why that may be

its a sunburst Fender AM Vintage 59 with a maple neck

1 year old with case and all that came with it

ive listed it everywhere and had only 2-3 guys show interest

the new price is 2000$

i listed it for 1400€ and then dropped to 1100
but again no interest

highest offer i got was 900€

yea headless guitars look really dumb

same here m8, I'm trying to sell my Les Paul for $600 and I've only got a couple of lowballers

I'm looking at a sonic blue for sale at 1600€ so I wouldn't drop it too low if I were you (unless you're in a hurry to sell). I think Fender shells out so many different strats that they end up being harder to sell on the used market. Plus it's harder to gauge the value of a particular model.

THIS is a pretty guitar

>sonic blue
if i cant sell mine for 1100€ you should be able to get yours for 1600€ easily

>what are pedals

if tele is a meme what is your obsession with ugly trash jazzmasters and mustangs

user have you ever played a real show

the bigger issue is prolly the vox

be good at writing music and form the band around yourself.

a guitarist who doesn't write is worthless

Post some covers and have /gg/ rate them/give some tips.

I'll start. Simple but nice sounding song. I played it a tad fast I think but its been forever since I listened to the actual song so fuck it.

clyp.it/4xmsxusq

So, I didn't end up buying this. I thought it had a truss rod, but it does not. The whole "steel reinforced neck" thing threw me. I don't really want to deal with a non-adjustable neck. Apart from the neck being bowed like crazy, the guitar was in great shape. Hopefully someone with more skills than me will get it. When I told the seller I wasn't interested because of the lack of truss rod, she offered to sell it for just $50. I was pretty damn tempted.

Played well. Nothing really jumps out that sounded off or wrong. Good job.

I'm quite a bit louder than the original here but it's quad tracked. Ended up sounding a bit cleaner than I'd have liked.

clyp.it/m2cbmtk3

what band is this

Cult of Luna
youtube.com/watch?v=lEUMUKaPulk
youtube.com/watch?v=7_KZ0nGSJUs

That's also been a concern of mine. I've got a strat I put hot rails in and I get a pretty good tone for my band out of it.

Why so many wires?

What is the best guitar forum and why is it TDPRI?

I really don't know where to start answering this question.

Thanks man. Blackbird is super fucking simple to play, just been playing it a lot lately because I've been on an acoustic kick for the past few months. It's a nice break from all of the metal and shit I've been playing as a fill in guitarist for a local band while their lead is in rehab kek.

Your shit sounded breddy gud. I'm not too familiar with the song but it sounds pretty sick.

What? It just seems like an excessive amount of wires for a preamp.

Bitch please.

Holy shit you suck

[fake spoiler] not really, I wish I actually knew how to play ;_; [/fake spoiler]

I've been trying to learn for about two years now and can barely pluck out simple shit like back in black. Maybe I'm just not meant for it?

Just practice more and take lessons from a professional if you need to.

Count in hours, not years. Anyways just try to have fun and you'll end up practicing more.
