Fellow Pitchfork patricians, it is once again the time for our nightly countdown for Pitchfork's new reviews to be updated on the site at 1am eastern time.
10.0? 0.0? Best New Music? Best New Reissue? 8.0+ with no BNM? A shitty set of 7's and below? Weird Al’s eternal BNM incoming hypetrain! Noctourniquetcourtsney Barnett Review? Titus Andronicus being robbed once again? Dead Sara finally getting an 8.3 BNM? Ian FUCKIN' Cohen? Ryan "THE TASTEMAKER" Dombal? Lindsay "qt feminist" Zoladz? [retired patrician, memory lives on forever] Jayson "8.7" Greene? Larry "retired BNM godfather" Fitzmaurice? Craig "Meme Rap" Jenkins? [taking the Big Apple’s publications by storm] Brandon “Meme Metal” Stosuy? [retired, metal albums still won't get BNM, everyone still won't care] qt Kim "retired Meal Goddess now at Noisey" Kelly? Grayson "Grizzly" Currin? Brian "Backup" Howe? Mark "the elder statesman" Richardson? Evan "IS GARAGE ROCK DEAD" Minsker? Meaghan “retired trap queen" Garvey? Andy "secretly alpha" Beta? Zoe "¡DALE!" Will someone dethrone Radiohead/Chance the Rapper’s 9.1 for AOTY?
OFFICIAL and accurate 2016 BNM Tally: 29 Nights since last BNM: 1
The most wonderful time of the night, every night, right now. Here it is, the nightly P4K thread. Time to get comfy.
>Tonight's Top Stories -This thread stands with Kesha eternally -I suck at updating the top stories -This thread hypes and supports DIIV, BadBadNotGood, the Julie Ruin, Wreck and Reference, and Frank Ocean. -/p4k/ forever
whats even coming out this week and soon after? is it that time of the year for a BNM drought?
Leo Flores
Daily reminder that Kendrick was robbed
Leo Johnson
Clams Casino, Gucci Mane and Nao are coming out in the next few weeks and they all got BNTs so maybe them idk
Noah Turner
DEAR TOMMY WHEN
Tyler Bennett
>New 10 when?
>New kanye album when?
William Nguyen
Arca mixtape review maybe?
Oliver Morales
pitchfork will never give out another 10 ever
Hudson Thomas
This thread stands with Michael Gira, Freddie Gibbs, Afrika Bambaataa, Heathcliff Berru, Leslie Rasmussen, Gustavo Guerra & Dr. Luke -- and rejects the rape culture hysteria of Meagan Garvey, Amber Coffman, Bethany Cosentino, Larkin Grimm, Ke$ha, et al.
Jose Watson
>obligatory "What's everyone listening to?" post.
Justin Bailey
How many more fucking 8.5s are they gonna give out this year?
Henry Moore
FYI 9 of the 29 BNMs this year have been 8.5s
Jeremiah Murphy
pic related
they have about ~30 more BNMs to handout, so around 18, 19.
Jonathan Martin
8.6 is my favorite BNM score, but you rarely see that one
is it because it doesn't look that good, typographically speaking? or doesn't sound as good when said aloud, aesthetically, in the rhythm and music of the syllables? Ayt poynt sicks.
Tyler Richardson
I think 8.7 is my favorite, its such a cock tease, because you know 8.8 is what you wanted
Gavin Scott
bullshit, when Kendrick or Frank release some monster project that causes every other publication to jizz, they'll do it
what current artists have that same massive amount of critical and commercial influence, or that potential, like Radiohead at the turn of the century or Kanye six years ago? generation defining acts.
Kendrick is the only one I can think of. maybe Taylor Swift on the commercial side if she can find some really innovative sound (doubtful). Beyonce is likely spent after s/t and Lemonade imo to produce another "Important" album
Adam Clark
someone said this in another thread but if tpab couldn't get a 10 then i really don't know what can. maybe kendrick's next album, but i dunno...
Christian Phillips
8.9 is also rare, but has a lot of personality to it. Probably my favorite. 9.3 obviously overstayed it's welcome last year but I still have a soft spot for it
Nicholas Morales
have there been many 9.4s? i can only think of ys off the top of my head.
Evan Sanchez
Agreed on Beyoncé, but I thought the same thing after s/t. She didn't top it imo, but I didn't think she would stay so consistent
In a few years we could see a Joanna Newsom 10.0 (or even a Fiona Apple) but who knows how much longer P4k will even stay relevant
Blake Bennett
>having favorite numbers Literally the most autistic thing imaginable
Christopher Gray
I dunno, I love both of those musicians but I think they might have hit peak relevance. Maybe Joanna disappear and then come back full avant Scott Walker style and get a 10 or something - but like you said, P4K will prob be a bit of a non-entity by that time.
Honestly I'm surprised they haven't embraced Holter a bit more. IMO they've lowballed every one of her releases esp LCS.
Wyatt Sanchez
>Beyonce is likely spent after s/t and Lemonade imo to produce another "Important" album if she really wanted it, i'm sure she could lock herself away with a guitar and a piano and get to writing--oh wait. nm.
Blake Edwards
Person Pitch and Summerteeth also
David Young
Frank Ocean this month
John Howard

Not saying Miseducation of Lauryn Hill should get a 10, but the amount of older albums they review in reissues that get a 10 makes her not getting a 10 pretty funny.
Nolan Lopez
ia, prob should have gotten a ten just for cultural influence really. do u think her recent controversies may have hampered the score?
Kevin Turner
they don't really seem interested in handing out 10s for the Sunday classic
