There are a lot of great genres, bands and musicians in Argentina. Except in Uruguay, I hardly find any other latin country so consistent, but it's needed proper context to fully appreciate them.
For example, posting some cumbia villera hits randomly mean nothing. There's a proper storyline to understand there. Not the SJW BS "it's rebel music from the oppressed!", but an aesthetical twist in contrast with the the previous love cumbia. Villera is much more close to punk rock than pop, and even if it's awesome in its own way, it was as opportunistic and demagogic as punk. A few heads up:
Flor de Piedra: the first authentic villera band.
Yerba Brava: the second, they thickened up villera sound. Close to a producer band though. Greatest villera vocalist.
Mala Fama: the most personal villera style of all.
Damas Gratis: extraordinary sound and talent. Is the testimonial one, as its leader writes and sings as he is.
Pibes Chorros: very subjective, the ultimate villera band is the most producer-oriented one. This guys wrote the best lyrics and created a soulless sound with a sonic attack like it was a death march. They wrapped up all villera subculture better than anyone too.
Supermerk-2: the last of the breed in this storyline. Their energetic hypercinetic cumbia set ground for all the bands that came after, in sound as well as in lyrics and themes.
Lots of other great bands in rock, punk, alternative and indie music, but enough blogging
