literally the best shoegaze record
I've listened to a couple of songs from that record, and it's alright but it doesn't have the same sort of 90s feel that for example loveless does, and it sounds a little too clean. thanks though
LSD and the Search for God created one of the best shoegaze songs of all time. Their other songs are worth checking out, but none come close to this one.

Super nice, very dense and chaotic. Really cool juxtaposition between the dreamier moments and melodies and the crushing production accompanies

Unfortunately, most shoegaze artists HEAVILY derive their sound from MBV, resulting in thousands and thousands of carbon copies of the same old shit. In order to get shoegaze that isn't soulless and uninspired crap, you're going to have to dig on RYM A LOT. You can listen to all of the Loveless 2.0's on the various flowcharts that get posted around here, but once you get bored of that (and you will), head on over to RYM.

Fell Asleep EP by Barlow. It's really lo-fi indie rock/shoegaze. Pretty much my favorite shoegaze band still making music. Plus it's free so why not?
People shit on diiv super hard, their new album is amazing. His involvement with heroin shows so much on it. Get a lot of the same vibes as watching Heaven Knows What. I haven't listened to hoops but the track that guy posted sounded insanely like diiv it's only natural he would like diiv, which he did

This. DIIV are pretty good. Their melodies are catchy as fuck and tge krautrock touches and little jams add character to their sound. They don't deserve the hate they get.

"derivative of MBV" isn't necessarily true, but it is a fact that a ton of shoegaze bands sound really similar or generic. You have to really dig to find the really good stuff. The genre could definitely use some experimentation and variation.
