why are Kanye's albums so high-rated by major outlets (AllMusic, Rolling Stone, Q)? they're literally rated on par with Zappa's best albums, and Zappa is (imo) a legit genius.

I'm white and middle class. I enjoy lots of hip hop. Not because I feel that I have to be part of black culture more because of sampling.

It's more a case of rap being so devoid of merrit that relating to the poorly conveyed themes would be the only reason why you would listen to it. That aspect is lost when you're a skinny twerp with a hitler youth cut living with his mother. Leaving you with absolutely nothing.

The appeal of hip hop is simple in that it is more beat and rhythm driven than most genres.
