>what are pleb opinions
you need to reel that bait back in buddy. it's dead.
everything is just random noise that your brain puts into order
It's weird to me how elseq is so much better received than Exai even though they're so similar.
when was their music not random?
Before Cornfield
But Confield isn't random.
i heard mostly positive stuff about exai
I think they're very similar in intention, but in execution elseq is just that much better. Its gratuitously long, but is consistently engaging and sublime to the point where I'd say 4 of the discs are each individually better than exai
Exai bored me to tears, Elseq bored me to tears in only a few places, rest was good
The fact that your brain can put it in order means it's not random noise, but ordered noise (or sound or something) in stead
autechre? more like autism!
haha im so fune
>humans in denial that they got BTFOd by elseq
When will these humans ever realize that they have been surpassed?
he meant aleatory
When it first came out I remember it getting shit on but people have been much more positive about it since. One criticism that came up constantly was that Exai needed to be trimmed down (I disagree), but I haven't seen nearly as many people saying that about elseq.
To me elseq just feels like a meandering version of Exai. There's still plenty of great material but it's less densely packed. I guess it's just down to personal preferences but I can listen to Exai in one sitting and there's never a dull moment but elseq 5 is the only one that holds my attention that well. Of course there's no need to listen to any of it in one sitting but my point is that even individual tracks in elseq drag on.
>implying autechre was made for human consumption
The correct term is pseudorandom pleb
>make AOTD by far
>get only 500 ratings on RYM
this is my new favourite video on the youtubes
Exai is great, you plebs.
Does anyone else remember that interview where Sean gets triggered as fuck because the interviewer keeps calling their music 'random' or 'generative' or something?
I'm a total dickrider but they don't have an album that isn't great imo
who cares
how can humans even compete?
they will never top confield desu senpai but as long as they keep trying their best to i'm happy
Are they gay?
No, Sean Booth was married to Mira Calix and Rob Brown is a kind husbando.
>make AOTD by far
>music is subjective
>????
yes
pendulu hv moda blows all the other tracks out of the water.
I think it'll happen at some point as long as both of the lads are alive. They have some roots in hip hop, but I think it would be good for them to take a hard - left from their usual routine, just once, to see what it's like. Although even if they were to do that, they might not want to brand it (the experiment) as an Autechre release.
Autechre is my favorite group. I own a comprehensive selection of their catalogue (over 20 items) as physical releases, and I've seen them in concert twice, scoring a t-shirt each time and with ticket stubs in my possession as evidence. I've stayed in a motel room with a bullet hole in the window for the express purpose of hearing them perform.
I've said/written more than once that if Autechre were to put out a straightforward polka album, I would happily buy the CD with cash. I will follow them to the ends of the earth, even to an ugly, resentful, vomiting dead-on-a-toilet-seat phase. But I don't see either of them doing that.
Exai is
1 far more conventional
2 not as wide-ranging
3 not as consistent
I think Exai is as good as Elseq. They're not as good as they were Tri Rep - Untilted, but they're new stuff is worth listening to.
>3 not as consistent
I disagree, considering elseq 2 exists.
Is 7th Slip electroswing
they write such good melodies when they choose to, i don't know why they tend to desert them nowadays :'(
Arca has made them culturally and artistically obsolete. Why are you all still listening to this babby shit again?
because arca is image-over-substance trash
Have you even listened to Mutant or EntraƱas? They are two projects that are pushing electronic music forward with incredible sound design and commentary, while Autechre have stagnated for years and haven't been relevant to anyone in the scene since Confield.
yes and both of them sound like fruity loop presets slapped together by someone who cant mix for shit
nice cover art though
pls does anyone have a good download for elseq
lmao what presets sound like Mutant?
I disagree on all fronts but respect your opinion.
I've tried to get into Arca but it continues to sound like music for confused post-op trannies.
I'm sorry. But can anybody explain to me the difference between their albums? They sound the same to me.
...
timbre, texture, rhythm, track progression, the predominance of melody...
i mean you could literally just read the long interview with them about this on Resident Advisor but I'm assuming you are too stupid, Op
Why should extramusical content matter?
>le fruity loop xD
It's called FL Studio now kiddo.
I could be just as reductive about Autechre wanking about in Max and their past few releases have been terribly mixed
>he listens to ae on headphones
Arca is 5 panel Autechre. You know it's true.
i have no idea what this means
>The fact that your brain can put it in order means it's not random noise
Not every brain is created the same, user.
Some people can make sense of Merzbow or Cage, for example, while most others can't.
Arca is pseudo-experimental electronic for hipster faggots who go to gay parties and never get truly into serious electronic. It's all aesthetic over essence.
it sounds better on quality headphones
where do i begin
>all these buzzwords
>using "electronic" unironically kek
>says "serious electronic" while posting in a thread about a "big 4"
and lol at "going to parties'" like that's supposed to be derogatory - it's his deconstructionist take on club and dance music (sound familiar? yeah that's what autechre do too) so of course it fits that setting
you've not even said anything of substance regarding why you find his music pseudo-experimental or lacking in essence, whatever that means.
I miss the days when ae weren't memed this hard...
Me too, it's all fault of the babbies who cannot get into their music and therefore they create threads like this one.
Starting a thread with a genuine attempt at discussion doesn't get many replies, it's necessary to pretend to be retarded for a while in order for the thread to make it past ~10 posts.
Op is most likely memeing anyway but honestly I don't think it's the "haters" that are the issue - it's the fans (I say this as one). I dunno why but people get so weirdly defensive about them at times, which in turn just drives more ppl to shitpost about them cause they know it riles the fanboys up.
Saying Arca is more relevant than Autechre is kinda like saying Grimes is more significative than Bjork.
it's not quite that bad, but good comparison
You switched ''significant'' and relevant you snake. You literally changed the meaning of what he said just so you could be right.
Significant: sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention; noteworthy
Relevnt: Closely connected or appropriate to the matter at hand.
You're not aware of the SJW, feminist and all that bullshit going on? Grimes IS more relevant in this time period.
I guess for relevant you mean she's in the top 40 charts and her music is used for ads and supermarket background, right? Because the "relevance" of Grimes is basically this.
i am loving this what people call 'ranbom' autechre. Somehow gives me more insight into what is going on in their minds and I appreciate it so much on a technical level. It sounds mad though.
noob here.
what's a good Autechre album to start with if you're into ambient? I really love Music Has The Rights to Children and The Campfire Headphase by BoC.
elseq
this doesn't sound like those albums i listed at all
Amber
at least that's how I remember it
He's fine the way he is
yes, just like the aphex twins
elseq do not make a lot of sense to me, it makes exai sound like a pop-album.
listen more than once mate
agreed, that fucking gargling bassline
Disappointed this wasn't on elseq
youtube.com
This is exactly how I want the next album to sound
like that and elyc6 0nset
>and elyc6 0nset
Anything but that.
why didn't you like it? Sounded fucking crazy
I'd recommend just giving up. go back to listening to crystal castles and sylvan esso-tier electronic.
Listen to their 90s output chronologically.
I was excited for such a long track but it was boring. If it wasn't for c7b2 I wouldn't listen to elseq 2 at all (and even that sounds sorta like wet shit desu).
the main subject was about arca being superior to autechre
in the long run he isnt
like ffs he doesnt even have individual memorable tracks like autechre do
what is arcas vi scose poise for example?
Yase
>what is arcas [one off the less memorable tracks on confield] for example
you're right, it's way better than the rest
