Found this on vinyl recently, love C86 stuff
shit nigga got a download link?
Been listening to this on repeat over the weekend. Amelia can do no wrong, all her bands are great.
sure man one sec
thanks
IMHO beat happening S/T is their best love the other albums but everything on that is twee at its best.
pic related also
Keep meaning to delve deeper into the genre, love a lot of what I've heard
I love the shop assistants.
Pic related is pretty twee. It's very indebted to acts like the field mice and early mbv
great record, I'm more inclined toward the more post-punky side of the spectrum though
Shop Assistants - s/t (1986)
>Twee Pop, C86

link: mega.nz
I was obsessed with this for a while
here have this in return, it's kind of a stretch to call it twee, but it definitely has elements of it
Half Japanese - Charmed Life
>Indie Rock, Lo-Fi, Experimental Rock, Twee Pop, Cobain-core

love listening to this this time of year
I have to say more than anything, the first Pains album is mostly indebted to Rocketship.
It's odd, I like it, thanks man
this is exactly the kinda jangle-pop stuff I love
I've never heard of them, I'll have to check them out!
this is fucking great
yeah it is!
fantastic thanks, if you have a list of this kind of thing I'd be interested to hear
I've never listened to twee before but i'm listening to the OP image right now and really digging it. Is there a recommendation chart anywhere? Essentials?
Thanks! Listening now :)
there you go
looks like this has been made before
nme c86 compilation albumen.wikipedia.org
tho imo mighty might-law is the best on it
rym has a chart rateyourmusic.com
tho I haven't listen too all of it myself
Omg the vivian girls are on this chart. I haven't thought about them in forever.
...
omg twee thread, I never saw one on Sup Forums.
youtube.com
hell yeah
saw them at sf popfest two years ago, so good
one of my favorites in recent years. you seriously gotta hear it if you haven't
youtu.be
Seems weird to have only one beat happening album on an essential chart, and to have it be that one.
new to twee
is there anything comparable to the songwriting on this? not necessarily in terms of length, but those melodies are so lovely
tried really hard to get into frankie. but never liked her unfortunately
really? i got hooked like immediately, which is rare for me
finally a general that isn't full of shitposting and people who have no idea what they're talking about.
I'm proud of you, /twee/
I asked for some twee recs a few weeks ago and got no replies, then this shows up
love ya guys
youtube.com
nah vocals were nice but everything else felt more like a youth lagoon ripoff and he does that better. even diiv
tho we're going more into jangle pop territory
I loved ALvvays debut
youtube.com
yep Alvvays is great
have you heard of elefant records?
yesss,.,
youtube.com
underrated camera obscura song
>tfw tweemo isn't a thing
Diet Cig makes me think of tweemo, and Los Campesinos' second album We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed does too.
my personal favorite of rose melberg's projects. if you like tiger trap, imagine all of the grit being sanded off and you get go sailor. on first listen i felt like it was kind of samey, but in this case it's definitely not a bad thing.
check out trixies big red motorbike - all day long in bliss and lullatone - plays pajama pop pour vous
Is Felt twee? I'm a real Felthead, but only up until Sunlight Bathed the Golden Glow.
Pic related is 30 minutes I'll never get tired of relistening.
What do you guys think about this?
holy shit i love you please post your lastfm if you have one.. i cannot stress enough how underrated this album is i prefer it over all their later work evergreen dazed and i worship the sun are such amazing songs
125 rue montmatre are so good
Nobody else seems to love Tender Trap, Heavenly, etc. ITT but 3 hours later I'm still coming back to this song. And Brown Eyes from the same album (Film Molecules) made me cry. Dammit if twee doesn't hurt sometimes.
Holy shit this is so good and right up my alley.
thanks man
Fuck I love twee. I think "Heavenly vs. Satan" is my favorite album. I feel that "Colossal Youth" by Young Marble Giants should be considered a go-to precursor albums, maybe on the chart or whatever. What do you guys think? Also Quarterkbacks (New Paltz NY) are pretty good.
Nice man. Heavenly never made a bad song, so listen to their whole discography if you haven't yet. They become better and better at playing from release to release.
In case you guys are interested, a couple years ago Sam Ray (Ricky Eat Acid, Teen Suicide) put together a mix for Fader including a lot of the bands mentioned in this thread (Heavenly, Rocketship, Trixie's Big Red Motorbike, Go Sailor, etc.). It's a great listen and turned me on to a few new bands that I now love.
I'm a Cathedral, Fortune and Templeroy man myself. Listen to the youtube clip entitled Felt on Spanish TV 1985 if you haven't yet, it's their only good live performance online. Great renditions of Cathedral, Stagnant Pool and Sunlight Bathed...
still one of my favorite songs ever
Calvin's new single is pretty good.

I'd say yes for velocity girl, not so sure about primal scream though
