Why is this so fuckin good?

why is this so fuckin good?

My enjoyment of the album increases linearly with the track number.

hey dad

GOOD ONE

favorite album of all time! whats your favorite track and why is it Temporary Like Achilles?

10/10 album. This is the only album George Harrison brought to India.

why are you so fucking dull?

/thread

I like how he used a pretty limited palette of instruments to make songs which still had such a strong individual character. It had variation while remaining incredibly cohesive. I also get the impression that he was enjoying himself quite a bit while recording the songs which I always like.

Why are you so fucking 13?

lol let's see your charts

Jesus fucking christ fuck off to reddit or something

Only faggots listen to Dylan. Patricians listen to Frankie Sanatra on repeat all day.

I think that because you probably don't know any of the best folk out there, if you post such a stupid thread

Welcome to America, the world's dumpster of people.

Inb4 bobby dylan

>Frank Sinatra
>carbon copy love songs
>most not even written by him
>"patrician"
how about kys

not that plebby melodramatic feodracore. The Avalanches.

i didnt make the thread, but you just proved how fucking stupid you are. Its not a folk album retard, its more akin to blues rock

oh ok, my mistake

Amazing album, but I could never be bothered with the first two songs for some reason.

My fav track is One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later)

xD my sides

Only on this cancerous board is liking this album considered controversial.

>thinking the opinions of a few edgy retards in this thread represents Sup Forums

You get trolled too easily.

>complaining about the genre
lol

he specifically tried to downplay the album by calling it a "folk album" and claiming that it wasnt a good example of the genre, when in fact the album is not a folk album.

Dylan is shit though.

lol nice one kid

Blood on the tracks is better

I think it's folk.

its not

blonde is lyrically and musically superior

It isn't, some folk tropes and idioms turn up obviously as Bob is a folk musician but he didn't make a folk album here.

It's folk-rock, and one of the first of it's kind along with Dylan's other albums.

you don't decide genres.
in my fucking opinion and according to my fucking taste it's folk

>lyrically
yes
>musically
no

>Their favorite track isn't Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands

fuck off nerdy turds

In that case, I declare Skrillex folk and Deadmau5 free jazz

folk-rock kind of underplays it, it holds more in line with rhythm and blues/blues rock

are you serious nigger, the music decides the genre and the music is not folk

great scenes

This board's average age is far too low for there not to be genuine shitters.

I hope you all die atrociously

Visions of Johanna totally falls under folk. Not the user you're speaking to and I agree most of BoB isn't folk but VoJ certainly is. If Astral Weeks is considered contemporary folk, Dylan's hopeless ode is.

It's folk

maybe. i mean, yeah, i can see that being under folk but its got some subtle psychedelic vibes to it as well.

its not

ITT: Underage kids think

White man + acoostic geetah = folk

its funny bc im pretty sure bob is on the piano/electric guitar most of this album

Maybe it's because you prefer stale boring music? This some boring folk garbage. If only you listened to some truly in-depth folk based music like John Fahey and Robbie Basho, but such brilliant minds are probably too much for you to handle.

If your favorite folk album isn't by:

John Fahey
Robbie Basho
Steffen Basho-Junghans
Sir Richard Bishop

Then you have no taste in true American folk music.

>they have an opinion
:(

>folk
Traditional folk music has been defined in several ways: as music transmitted orally, or as music with unknown composers. It has been contrasted with commercial and classical styles. One meaning often given is that of old songs with no known composers; another is music that has been transmitted and evolved by a process of oral transmission or performed by custom over a long period of time.

>contemporary folk
Starting in the mid-20th century a new form of popular folk music evolved from traditional folk music. This process and period is called the (second) folk revival and reached a zenith in the 1960s. This form of music is sometimes called contemporary folk music or folk revival music to distinguish it from earlier folk forms.[1] This type of folk music also includes fusion genres such as folk rock, folk metal, electric folk, and others. While contemporary folk music is a genre generally distinct from traditional folk music.

>it's only folk if it's instrumental fingerpicking American Primitivism

>some truly in-depth folk based music
Read Song and Dance Man III: The Art of Bob Dylan and tell me Dylan hasn't put the effort into studying folk music.

Or listen to any single episode of his radio show.

And Fahey didn't consider himself a folk musician btw.

whoops

...

its not folk you dip!
and bob dylan is the most universally respected folk musician, he pretty much single handedly revived the genre

folk-rock =/= folk

The folk people hated Dylan when he started making folk-rock. It's not the same thing at all.

whoops 3

Folk-Rock isn't folk.
>he pretty much single handedly revived the genre
Yeah, Dylan, who got his start in the folk revival movement that had been going on for at least twenty years revived the genre.

I've seen a lot of dumb things said about Dylan, this has to be the dumbest.

Well, it's not even the greatest album of 1966.

Hell, it's not even the greatest album of May 16, 1966.

whoops 4

>he pretty much single handedly revived the genre

the "second folk revival" of the later 20th century brought a new genre of popular music with artists marketed through concerts, recordings and broadcasting. One of the earliest figures in this revival was Woody Guthrie, who sang traditional songs in the 1930s and 1940s as well as composing his own.

see

Nobody's actually sure the exact day BoB was released.

>implying all American primitivism is fingerpicking
Fucking retard

>studying folk music
You mean copying ideas from other musicians he met along the way in his journey as an artist?

And no shit Fahry wouldn't consider himself folk. His folk was so much superior he didn't wanna get grouped with inferior losers like Dylan.

>revived the genre
>who's Woody Guthrie
Another retard

>complaining about genres and little differences about genres part 2
LMAO kill yourself faggots

...

You've just outed yourself as a troll. Have a nice day.

ok look guys i slipped up, i didnt mean he revived the genre, but he boosted it up to mass popularity

we don't give a fuck

>troll
>implying I said anything wrong

That's not a little difference, he literally changed the face of music forever by adding electric instrumentation to folk arraignments.

obviously you did or you wouldnt have called it out you little bitch

one of the most boring and irritant albums i've ever heard. In comparison justin bieber sounds decent.

i'm totally sincere.
why are you so insecure about your taste to not accept different opinions?

come on man, Justin Bieber > one of the most celebrated musicians of all time
doesnt that sound like bait?

Fahey was on the scene before Dylan was, he wouldn't need to to worry about being grouped with Dylan at the time of that quote.

And no, American Primitivism is just as removed from Traditional Folk Music as Contemporary Folk Music. Just because one's artsier doesn't change the meaning of words.

Blonde on blonde> pet sounds

Cool. Doesn't change the main point that not only is AP rooted in folk, but also that it's far more superior to Dylgarbage

agreed but Pet Sounds is still GOAT

''no''

And nothing you've said negates the fact that Dylan is rooted in folk and a hefty amount of his material is actually folk.
