Rock is broad as fuck. You're gonna need to specify what kind of rock you want.

>Rock is broad as fuck.

Not really, especially compared to classical, jazz, electronic and traditional folk.

It is, it's extremely broad. There's a huge difference between, say, Radiohead, Pavement, The Ramones, Opeth, Swans and Slayer. They need to specify a genre.

I started with progressive rock and avant garde shit from the 60's to 70's idk
I feel like everyone has their own starting point
Also what genre of music did you start with if not rock? Most start with rock, or that's at least what I've seen

>2 geetahs
>drummer
>singer
>muh tfwngf feels
>4 chords
>varied

fucking this, id throw in pavement, dr dog, the flaming lips, can, and led zeppelin in with these and theres 11 rock bands, to check out, not just albums.

Britbong so listened to dance music and other ''electronic'' music mostly.

take out arctic monkeys, they're fucking shit

Got a favorite artist? We need something to go off of.

So, artists I started with (my Dad showed me these 1st when I was a kid):

The Beatles
The Beach Boys
David Bowie
Pixies
Love (specifically Forever Changes)
Television (specifically Marquee Moon)
Bob Dylan

They're pretty classic artists as a starting point, but it all depends on what you mean by rock.

>reductionism

Personally I'd say a good starting point is:
First 3 black sabbath albums
Jimi Hendrix-electric ladyland
Probably some led Zeppelin album, maybe just greatest hits
Queens of the stone age-songs for the deaf
Arctic monkeys- whatever people say I am that's what I'm not
The doors- the doors
Nirvana- nevermind
My bloody valentine- loveless

These aren't the best albums but they've all had a big impact in their respective genres and they're a good start

That's an idiotic post, may as well say OPN, Kraftwerk, James Ferraro, post-OKC Radiohead and Tim Hecker all just sound the same as Good Vibrations.

start with noise rock

No they aren't, their last two albums are just ok pleb.

Don't know what the Sup Forums consensus on them is, but Wolf Alice - My Love Is Cool is a pretty nice rock album in my opinion

What are you looking for in rock, or music in general?

Here, this song encompasses a bunch of different rock genres.

The only good rock is Krautrock, everything before and after is just degenerate dance music with guitars.

Just listen to Television - Marquee Moon literally GOAT when it comes to rock
