I watched No Direction Home, read his book, listened to all of his good albums, I'm a big Dylan fan. BUT

Yesterday I came to the conclusion that Leonard Cohen is absolutely, without a doubt, unquestionably better than Bob Dylan.

Is it even possible to argue against this?

>Is it even possible to argue against this?
No. Leonard Cohen is GOAT

Tim Buckley trumps both.

assuming this isn't just a Dylan thread

I know a lot of people will say it's mostly word vomit but it's really one of those albums where you just take what's given to you and interpret it. And most of the lyrics ARE interpret-able, just difficult.

However, in terms of flow, rhyme, and delivery, and just how strange the lyrics are, they make me cream my pants whenever I listen to this album.

>TSK TSK TSK, MY TERRACOTTA ARMY

>I man tsunami feral, get barreled in other worlds
>No hand in sea of pearls, buried in frozen Jheri curls
>I man Herzog shooting solitaire
>No hands, savoir nova shaka glare Zulu somnambulist lair
>Flick of my wrist ouh, shit, ouh, awhoo shit
>Phantom lix crude lix, I man island exclusive
>Flick of my wrist ouh, shit, ouh, awhoo shit
>Flick of my wrist awe shit, aww, I'm not shit

>Gimp just kept shaking so I had to braid him like this
>Comfort over freedom, pave a path of leisure, have it all
>Freedom over comfort, give you back so much leisure, feel small
>Xeroxed man dressed in gauze, spider silk, and menopause
>Mustache showered with applause, squished out packets like taco sauce
>Gather crowd, laugh it off, Mr. Zogged by your boss

>Fuck bloom bam, fuck bam blew, fuck boom blam
>Fuck new glam, fuck glam new, fuck goon gland
>Fuck fluke flam, fuck flam fluke, fuck half shoe
>Fuck glim sham, fuck gam through, we statue

and my favorite moment:

>Martyr for dollars, pull the slot, strip mall hollers, buy a yacht
>One for all, all for not, denial pays placebo bot
>I Kzap slap aristoclot, traffickers of permastock
>Then catwalk backwards out of the box
>Through holes in my dirty socks
>(I'm a) Scarecrow dialect dispatch on that shit kommando mix
>Matte moxy subwooferish junkie maxi mumbai lit
>(I'm a) Feng shui like, "Fuck's in that spliff?"
>Impurified conduct
>Ionosphere R. Mutt
>By product deluxe

Was thinking of posting this but excuse me.
That being said, Aaron Weiss is like my favorite lyricist out there right now.

...

>Xeroxed man dressed in gauze, spider silk, and menopause

I remember a post about this being a Kanye diss when the album was released. Good times.

>See the primitive wallflower frieze
>When the jelly-faced women all sneeze
>Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze, I can't find my knees."

what did he mean by this

Pearson is a great songwriter. Also listen to Last Of The Country Gentlemen.

Obviously a hormonally challenged woman sneezed, and somehow lost all object permanence thus forgetting where her knees were.

...

it's *tucks hair behind ear* postmodernism man

I've always liked the lyrics in this one.
American Beauty is another favorite of mine for lyrics.

...

I wouldn't say it's super stunning, but I like the imagery Aoxomoxoa presents.

...

The lyrics on this album are actually terrible. Any of their previous albums had much better lyrics.
