it's like noise with context
Underrated albums
Other urls found in this thread:
as I recall its 100% spoken word
I wouldn't say its underrated but does anyone know of some similar sound-collage type albums?
check out peter sotos' other works and his stuff for whitehouse, like the tracks bird seed, public and private
Such an underrated album
...
i looked all over and all i could find were old whitehouse records. ken nordine - colors is remotely similar dealing with a totally different theme but people seem to like that as well for whatever reason. honestly there isn't really anything similar to buyer's market other than solo's other works
...
Literally in no way is this album music
explain?
It's a collection of short stories it's not music, it's literally just people talking for an hour if this is music literally everything is music.
definitely a solid album
every album you've ever heard with a vocalist is just some person talking over noise. What's the difference?
>implying singing is the same thing as talking
>implying melody is the same thing as ambient noise
>implying singing is the same thing as talking
they can be the same
>implying melody is the same thing as ambient noise
that depends on what you define as being melodious right?
Bretty gud!
>singing is the same as talking
Singing is simply talking with rhythm and pitch changes.
>melody is the same thing as ambient noise
I could play a melodic guitar lineunder an extremely high-gain low volume heavy reverb setting which blursthe melody to an unrecognizable level. Would that count as melodious or ambient noise?
can there be one thread without this stupid semantic debate?
Is there any rhythm or pitch changes at all in the album? Are there any instruments being used to create any sort of engaging sound at all? And don't drag it back to the ambiguity of what 'music' can actually be, it's literally just talking, get a grip. I refer you to what this person said before:
...
dude just read an article on John Cage or something, that or you can just ignore other definitions of "music" and stick to your perception. Critical thought is not for everyone.
no, Sup Forums is too idiotic
Since it's women that are talking on the album I'd call it 100% noise.
Do you want to talk about it, user?
...
Buyers market is extremely overrated since most other project sotos has done with whitehouse or whatever are never discussed here. only this thing.
here is one of my favourite soundcollage albums:

>implying that music can be defined purely by arbitrarily defined and eurocentric concepts like "rhythm", "pitch", and even "melody"
Music, like art, cannot be defined by artifacts, but must be looked at like an institution. Music isn't an act but rather a system based on appraisal by conscious agents. Unlike fine art, it is much more structured, but this structure is subject to change over time.
