he has to rip in peaces

One of the few cases I can think of where I like the artist not the art.

This was mildly good

He has been on a definate decline this past decade...

Old stuff good

Trent Reznor did everything he did better. Trent actually plays instruments. Trent is edgy without being too cringey. Trent sings better. Trent has better lyrics. Marilyn Manson is a doo-doo head.

Garbage for angsty teen

Also part of the wave of people responsible of the commercialization and watering down of a great genre

Literally the rockstar to end all rockstars. Including himself.

>"cringey"
>retarded namefag
gee

i dunno on the lyrics

>Trent sings better
fuck NO he doesn't. He has two modes: mumbling and kinda shouting
Manson has an amazing vocal range compared to Trent and makes the best of it.

Trent is MORE shameful for these things. At least Manson has never pretended to be anything more than a drug fucked edgelord piece of shit.

I fucking hate MM, but NIN are objectively far worse than he could ever be.

Nine Inch Nails meets Korn: The Band

deathrock kid starts shock rock/heavy metal band; industrial genius reinvents him in his own image

>NIN are objectively far worse than he could ever be
And yet Trent Reznor is still a relevant name in music and Manson isn't

His recent live performances are unbearably cringe. I heard he's been on tour with Slipknot to rake in on some of that nu metal mallgoth nostalgia and he didn't turn up on stage or for the meet and greet that people paid hundreds of dollars for. Alienating your hardcore fans is probably the worst thing an artist like him can do at this point. Might be an act of self-sabotage, he does seem pretty sick of it all at this point

JUST

cringe is not an adjective you youtube-dwelling retard
Have you listened to the ACSS demos?
All Reznor did was make his music sound mildly spookier and harsher than it previously was.

Then he fucked off and MM still made good music with a powerful concept.

meanwhile...

Not my cup o tea, but I saw them open for Nine Inch Nails back in the mid 90s. They put on a really good show. He did the penis tuck a la Silence of the Lambs at one point. He seems to be more of a caricature of himsef if thats even possible. It's not like the guy was ever a musical genius, but his act was cool for a while.

>a caricature of himself
A caricature of all rockstars and celebrities, actually.

even more of a caricature of himself now*

Yes it is you fucking newfag. Kill yourself before I run for senate and make the purge legal to do the job myself.

Amazing Atheist-core

>make the purge legal
>2010s bro movie reference
confirmed for youtube-dwelling newfag

FUCK

Yeah, he even likes the new trilogy of Manson albums.

I always though that the costume changes for his live shows were pretty cool, but that's taking the piss.

pshh! Nothin personnel... kid...

I like both, but Manson doesn't have as many Apple shares. Might have something to do with that.

MY

SHIT

this

i guess i don't necessarily "not" like the art, i just haven't gotten around to it. indifference towards his stuff, i guess

hey whats going on here

what the shit

Nothin' much son, you?

In Manson’s 1998 autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell, he reflects on the subject of addiction at two key points in his band’s history. The first of these is at the start of the career, when the band’s then-bass player/core songwriter, Gidget Gein (Brad Stewart), overdosed on heroin, prompting Manson to declare “I couldn’t (and still can’t) tolerate someone who’s a fucking weakling living out of a spoon and a needle”. He later reflects – after suffering an overdose of his own during the recording sessions for Antichrist Superstar - of how he “managed to convince [himself] that [he] was not Brad Stewart, that [he] was still in control: this overdose would not be an epiphany or a wake-up call to straighten up. It was simply a mistake.” Back in 1996, Manson’s ideological position on the subject of addiction was clear, even if his practices fell short.

Fast forward to 2009 – he’s squawking about in fancy hotel rooms, drinking absinthe and making a tit of himself. He’s turning up at the BBC gacked up to the tits and talking even more bollocks. Manson’s alcoholism – cited by Dita von Teese as one of the major causes of the break-up of the marriage – was even held up by some critics as a reason why his live performances around this time were so much bobbins.

>“I make no secret of my drug use. But at the same time I have nothing but contempt for anyone who is addicted to drugs”

Can Manson still say this with a straight face? Oh, and stay off the Gregg’s pasties, Manson, no matter how much you like them.

he became such a DILF

>At least Manson has never pretended to be anything more than a drug fucked edgelord piece of shit.
HAHAHA
I enjoy Manson's early material a lot but I know so many obnoxious Mansonites who legit think their idol is everything you think he isn't -- they're too easy to spot.

>Social media profile has b&w/caked makeup on it.
>Acts musically superior, speaks in a fake 'tortured' baritone/fry.
>Extremely pretentious
>Typically a stoner, burnout, complete fucking loser, or a DUDE IM SO SPIRITUAL AND PHILOSOPHICALLY ENLIGHTENED WAKE UP SHEEPLE
>Other musical tastes are usually strictly mallgoth or anything Manson specifically cites as a reference in interviews down to the actual quote to justify their taste.

I enjoy about half of his music, indifferent to the other half.

He's a smart, interesting and funny guy but his music is nothing special.

>Can Manson still say this with a straight face?
Yes. He's contradicted himself in the book, and he's contradicting himself now irl. He was always a contradiction.

btw, pretty much everyone close to him says the book was highly fabricated and he hardly touched drugs in the 90's even though he pretended to be fucked up all the time. I doubt he actually did all that cheap cocaine he claims, and I doubt he overdosed.

I think Manson sings better and wrote more interesting lyrics, but Reznor is infinitely better at everything else and more consistent. Everything good about ACSS seemed to be Reznor's doing.

I honestly remember when this was the other way around.
Trent's sountracks and business ventures have been real good for him.

He was one of those artists that I was forbidden to listen to as a kid. May sound faggy but he was one of the dudes that helped me get through adolescence. The edginess of telling everyone to fuck off was nice, I guess. I don't know, I was a retarded teenager.

That being said, everything up until GAoG is great.
After that he tried to get all "emotional" after basically telling everyone to hate him, and it's been a grab at his former glory ever since.
I'm just glad he finally said fuck it and went in a new direction with Pale Emperor instead of trying to rehash shock rock to an audience that has already seen everything.

I was going to say he was never that good looking in the first place but...
...fuck

...

Dude Born Evil and Eat me Drink me are God tier

Give them a listen

>eat me drink me
>god tier
no
It's boring vapid attempts at being emotional after his bitch left him.

Oh boy you have no idea how that album hits close to home until you experience it

Probably not. But I can't take it seriously when he goes from
>FUCK YOU ALL I AM THE DEVIL FUCKING FEAR ME I AM YOUR NIGHTMARE YOU FUCKS
to
>oh my god woe is me i have no woman im so sad wow people are terrible wah
and then to
>wait im a badass fucker that people hate YEAH FUCK ALL OF YOU I DONT NEED NOTHING wait fuck where is everybody

desu, this sounds exactly like Pale Emperor hahaha
1) Killing Strangers, Deep Six
2) stretch from Third Day to Warship
3) remainder of album

and upon further analysis this applies to HEOL and BV too.
Some things never change.
Some people never grow up.

I've never seen one interview with him where you didn't want to punch the guy in the face.

Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, and Holy Wood are all great

The Pale Emperor is good

he won't release another good album

MM is like 45 and still acts like a petulant 15 year old who's grandmother made him go to church with her on Sunday. I mean, come on. Trent Reznor has matured into something gentler and more adult. RHCP matured into something gentler and more adult. Manson and Weezer...have not.

>that punchable face
meh

I really enjoyed The Pale Emperor so I'll probably give his next album a listen.

What about Interpol and Failure?

>Trent has better lyrics
NOW I'M SLIPPING ON THE TEARS YOU MADE ME CRY

GRAY WOULD BE THE COLOR IF I HAD A HEART

Explain how this is better

As somebody who grew up in the 90's when he was at the height of his popularity, I think he was necessary but I was never a fan.

>666 FEET DEEP
>STARLESS BUT SHE FUCKS LIKE A COMET
>I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN OPEN UP, I'M NOT A BIRTHDAY PRESENT
>BETTER PRAY FOR HELL NOT HALLELUJAH
>NO ONE IS EXEMPT FROM THE ODDS OF EVEN
>HATERZ CALL ME BITCH CALL ME FAGGOT CALL ME WHITEY
>I'LL SWALLOW UP ALL OF YOU LIKE A BIG BOTTLE OF BIG BIG PILLS
>I MEMORIZE WORDS TO PORNO MOVIES
>I'D FUCK YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE MY NIGGER
>DON'T BOTHER TRYING TO SAVE THE BRAINFOREST
>MURDERCUTE HAPPYRAPE MURDERCUTE HAPPY HAPPY HAPPYRAPE KILLER
>MY PUPILS ARE NOT STUDENTS, THEY DILATE BUT THEY NEVER LEARN
>TEENAGE RAPE CANDIDATES
>I'D FUCK YOU TO FUCK YOU OVER
>IF I COULD STICK TO YOU, YOU COULD STICK ME TOO?
>ON THE LINE BETWEEN THE DEVIL'S TITS AND WE'VE BEEN DRIVING ON E
>SLUTGARDEN
>I GOT A F AND A C AND A K TOO AND THE ONLY THING THATS MISSING IS A BITCH LIKE U
>I'D FUCK YOU SO SOMEDAY I CAN HAVE HALF OF EVERYTHING YOU OWN
>MY SPERM'S AS COLD AS ICE
>WHEN I SEE YOU IN THE SUN YOU'RE AS PRETTY AS A SWASTIKA
>I WANNA HAVE YOUR ACHE AND BEAT YOU TOO
>THIS ISN'T RAIN YOU RAPIST WEREWOLVES, THIS IS GOD PISSING DOWN ON YOU
>THERE ISN'T ANY WHITE COTTON PANTIES THAT AREN'T SOAKED AND STAINED RED
>I'D FUCK YOU BECAUSE I CAN'T REMEMBER IF I'D ALREADY FUCKED YOU BEFORE
>I WANNA FUCK YOU LIKE A FOREIGN FILM AND THERES NO SUBTITLES TO GET YOU THROUGH THIS
>THE RAPE OF PERSEPHONE WAS A MARKETING SCHEME
>THERE'S A WORD THAT'S LIKE YOU BECAUSE IT CAN BE A NOUN A VERB AN EXCLAMATION OR THE THING I SAY WHEN SOMETHING IS UNBELIEVABLE WHEN I'M NOT ABLE TO BELIEVE HOW UNBELIEVABLY UNBELIEVABLE THAT YOU BELIEVE YOU COULD NOT BE LEAVABLE THAT'S WHEN I HAVE TO SAY WOW WOW WOW WO-WO-WO-WO-WO-WO-WOWWWW

This is from his more recent "mature" output.

I fucking love WoW so much

I like the creative process of his clips

Music is hist

>FIST FUCK

The Triptych was amazing and everything else was either mediocre or awful. He had some great ideas in his early career but holy hell, his brain is not as sharp as it used to be, and, unfortunately, the Marilyn Manson brand is taking a hit for it. Brian Hugh Warner hasn't matured Marilyn Manson as well as Trent Reznor has matured Nine Inch Nails over time. He's still trying to perform the same way and write about the same things as he did 20, almost 30 years ago and it's not working out.

He was supposed to publish a novelized version of The Triptych but never really got around to it, do none of it makes any fucking sense and the story is ruined because of his laziness.

These read eerily similar to Death Grips lyrics when written in all caps...

*glass breaks*

I'm amazed you've memorized and bothered to look up so many examples of his later lyrics which are truthfully so pretty bad

I agree with born villain being good, eat me was pretty... eh. but I really don't understand where all the hate towards born villain stems for, it's one of his strongest albums in a while. fantano complained about the production but I didn't have any issues with it

>He was supposed to publish a novelized version of The Triptych but never really got around to it, do none of it makes any fucking sense and the story is ruined because of his laziness.
he claims it's been hindered by "a certain religion".
the biggest theory is scientology because he started talking about it a lot around that time and namedropping some book about Jack Parsons

Really? That's weird. Still, I wish the albums had that piece to tie them all together.

He should totally just pull a Death Grips and release the book as a PDF for free, regardless of what people tell him to do.

Isn't that what his whole shtick is about anyway? Rebellion?

It would be nice but at the same time I fear it might turn out like a last season of L O S T

>Isn't that what his whole shtick is about anyway? Rebellion?

Nah. Faux-rebellion, maybe.

It’s still kind of hard to imagine Manson’s creative process these days. Maybe it’s been said so many times how similar (and stock) his songs are that he just doesn’t care anymore, or maybe he just does what he wants. You could imagine a computer matrix generating his tracks according to strict formulae, but I’m not sure even that would explain it, because at some point a computer might go mental and insist that his tracks be played on djembe and flugelhorn or something. You can’t call anything on his recent albums innovative, because it really is just adding the odd flourish or layer of instrumentation or concrete or stock VST FX over what is essentially just another rock nursery rhyme with silly lyrics.

I mean it's not enough to make you sit up and take notice, because Manson’s done similar things before, but they do suggest that he might be capable of more interesting records if he just stopped thinking about being a clown man for the kids and dancefloors and stadiums and maybe trusted his band (whoever the fuck they are these days) a bit more to take the reins.

I’ve thought since Holy Wood brought that millstone of a trilogy to an end that Manson might as well do something genuinely weird and experimental, like putting out a smooth jazz record or some harsh noise. Maybe even get Eno in? Reznor's recently put out albums that said, in a clear and confident voice, that the eyes of the world are well and truly off him and that he can just do whatever now, and that turned out pretty well.

But then, does anyone really expect Marilyn Manson to admit that he’s not really "famous" anymore? Even if that means that he’s “allowed” to make better music?

an edgy faggot who wasn't bullied hard enough for being a faggot
literally a cultural embarrassment

>does anyone really expect Marilyn Manson to admit that he’s not really "famous" anymore?
isn't that pretty much what he did with pale emperor?

I think he's overrated as a social commentator (I.e. Early work) and underrated as a kind of melodramatic diarist (late)

I saw him last year and he turned in a good performance

Also he broke a beer bottle and cut himself with it so bad he had to take a break and get a tourniquet, which was hilarious

From what I've watched/read about him his crux seems to be alcohol, not harder things

>Weezer hasn't matured
"Foolish Father" off EWBAITE has Cuomo forgiving his father and letting go of the angst that powered songs like "Say It Ain't So". "Cleopatra" sees him as a married middle age man cast off the ability of woman drama to control him. Granted the fucked it all up and regressed with White, but EWBAITE is a mature work. (So is the Alone version of "Can't Stop Partying...)

Really? I think the opposite. I think his early work is mostly asinine edgelord drivel, but once he turned inward he became an interesting artist. Just think of "Mephistopheles", where he uses images of Lazarus and Mephistopheles, juxtaposed against the blues, to create a kind of narcisstic anti-spiritual. Experiments like that are much more interesting to me that talking about how much you hate God over a KMFDM beat

Hi le banana man!

I almost forgot he had a bunch of secret websites set up around the time Holy Wood was released. I always thought that was pretty cool. It was like an almost-ARG. It required you to explore a little, but wasn't challenging enough to be a fully fledged "ARG". Pretty nice.

This is how I feel about him too.

He was there but I never cared for him.

Very hit and miss with more misses then hits, pale emperor was pretty good and imo his only good album.
