Avalanches Thread

Avalanches Thread.

Anyone snag the SILY LP? Is it even a re-issue?
How is Wildflower holding up for you all?

If anyone has a collection of the samples used on SILY or Wildflower would you mind sharing it? I'd love to hear the tracks breathe on their own.

I loved Wildflower. People thought the features ruined the album, but I thought the exact opposite. I thought they fit into the album nicely and made the album great

Yeah, I did't have an issue with the features either. It all made for some really great moments. Camp Lo steals the show for me.

My friend has a first pressing of SILY. It cost him around $300.

OP here, its totally missing some great tracks but here are all the samples the avalanches have used on a spotify playlist.

If anything comes along I'll update it.

Thee same for me, the transition is just perfect. Oh and all of Electricity ofc

Did anyone pick up that re-issue?

I got it. I thought about canceling it once I heard about samples being omitted, but Bleep had it shipped five minutes after I placed my order.

I thought it was just the zomba samples being removed. They removed more?

Honestly the more Wildflower as an album grows on me, the more Frankie Sinatra as a song grows off me

It's a good song.

IMO SILY isn't the kind of album you own on vinyl. It's better listened to from start to finish without having to get up to flip the record every 22 minutes.

when the woman singing sample comes in on Two Hearts in 3/4 Time

agreed

>this is what people that don't own it tell themselves.

>MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, HOME OF OBLIGATED COMPUTERS WHICH SPEAK A MECHANICAL LANGUAGE ALL OF THEIR OWN

Second place is 2:45 of Summer Crane

no it isnt

loud eater tho, that shit is cash

>What are opinions

That and around 2:45 mark of Live at Dominoes when most of the noise drops out and it sounds super disco I fucking love that part

I really like Wildflower, I don't think that it can really live up to SILY because SILY might be my favorite album of all time - I was introduced to it through Sup Forums a while back and I instantly fell in love with it ... That album has gotten my through very bad times but also good times so it's got enormous sentimental value. Wildflower just doesn't feel as vast and indescribable, which is totally fine. A review that I read (can't remember where) mentioned that both SILY and Wildflower operate on the idea of nostalgia but SILY's nostalgic sound is something that can't be categorized in any simple or meaningful way other than vague overarching categories whereas Wildflower replicates a specific type of sound: psychedelic stuff. It makes Wildflower more easily categorized but erases the mystique and indecipherable nature of SILY.
I still really do think it's a great album and I'd argue that it'd be much more appreciated (even though it's been well received which I think is much deserved) if it wasn't being compared to SILY, which is to me a nearly perfect and absolute piece of music with no easy comparisons.
Also if anyone has just gotten into The Avalanches and wants more, check out their DJ sets they'll knock your fucking socks off... You can find them neatly compiled and on mediafire on the avalanches subreddit.

Noisy Eater is fucking great. It's the closest thing to Wildflower's Frontier Psychiatrist.
