Don't hesitate to browse the dungeon synth tag on bandcamp, this is a real gold mine of heroïc fantasy.
Bumping with such a great album : chaucerianmyth.bandcamp.com
I dig this
>mfw dungeon synth is comfy
>feel like an autist listening to it
why
yeah i need more
tf is dungeon synth
Lamentation - As Shadow Kingdom Comes to My Sight
Good stuff user !
What do you think about the related genre called winter synth, on my opinion dungeonn synth is WAYYYY better
>tf is dungeon synth
Go to google
search dungeon synth wall
listenn to the albums there, there are full samples of every song of every album listed there
I recommend Wojnar
it's really authentic, pre-internet Polish DS with a nice epic vibe.
never heard of this
what's it like?
Is it bad that I actually enjoy this genre
youtube.com
Is this dungeon synth
I really like Erang, strange that I don't see him getting more love.
Go ahead and listen to Tome 2 album:

KVLT as FVKK
Erang is like the #1 French dungeon synth dude.
basically yeah
>about the related genre called winter synth,
Is this that "doom metal intros - the genre" genre?
vsac
that sounds interesting
Do you have a download link please ?
Ok, it's slow-ass dungeon synth with cheesy "djjwwwooooooaaaaammmmm" effects.
it's ok
reminder that Tangerine Dream invented dungeon synth and that any dungeon synth fan ought to watch The Keep.
I always thought it was called "cold synths".
I have to admit that cold climates are invariably tied to synths in my mind.

But to say it's better than dungeon synth is kind of silly. It's two different vibes. Dungeon synth can have very melodic structures, whereas winter synth appears to be a very ambient-heavy feeling.
why isn't there more industrial dungeon synth like Ice Ages out there?
I know that some people classify it as darkwave but seriously. Listen to this.

Tell me you don't feel the dungeon atmosphere.
It's a very niche but very strong concept and I want more of it.
>reminder that Tangerine Dream invented dungeon synth
I'm not familiar with the breadth of Tangerine Dream's work, but I would argue that Mort Garson effectively made dungeon synth (or maybe proto-dungeon synth) as early as 1971.
How do you guys feel about dungeon hop?
that's pretty cool
terrible concept, remove it at once
the closest you could wring out of it would be a liturgic chant with cheesy synths.
I don't know if you know him from Plantasia, but he also released two albums of what amounts to "occult synth" as Lucifer and Ataraxia.
He essentially presaged both dungeon synth and horror synth.
>the closest you could wring out of it would be a liturgic chant with cheesy synths.
Did you actually listen to either?
NONE OF THIS IS REAL is pretty dope man, track 34 is fantastic.
I might be biased because it blends a lot of niche styles I always thought had an undercurrent of similar mindsets, but its worth a shot (even though there is very little in the "genre", as it were).
Dungeon Beats would be much better without the pseudo-rapping. Totally killed the project for me.
>Dungeon Beats would be much better without the pseudo-rapping
I feel you, it would be nice if they released just the instrumentals. I get what they're going for, but it rarely meshes as well as they want it to.
Anyone else think it would be good of you replaced the rapping with Satanic gospel music
it's only good when it doesn't have rapping or hip-hop beats.
Honestly it sounds more like vaporwave-based hip-hop.
And speaking of vapor, there's a lot more potential in combining vaporwave and dungeon synth than in dungeon-hop.
Practically all hip-hop would sound better if you replaced the rapping with something else.
Dungeonwave, that would be pretty cool.
Yeah I'm experimenting with Strawberry Switchblade samples it's got a good sound, the only issue is you gotta do some pitch-shifting here and there to turn your major key samples into minor key spooky shit.
>lordlovidicus.bandcamp.com
Holy fucking shit this is great, it's like playing Daggerfall for the first time.
>or hip-hop beats.
This is where you're pretty wrong, man. There's nothing wrong with the beats.
It doesn't really sound like vaporwave to me for the most of it.
But to each his own, I suppose.
This sounds neat. I've been making shit out of looped 70s horror movie samples and adding sparse percussion, you could probably do something similar with 70s/80s fantasy movies.
Since some of Laserdisc Visions was made out of NiGHTs, there's nothing stopping people from sampling old fantasy adventure games either.
Yeah I'm currently trying to pick out good samples from 80s horror OVAs but most of the time they're so perfect on their own that I don't have the courage to try and make something different out of them.
reminds me of various fantasy video games
also a much more relaxed version of Summoning's work
if you haven't listened to them, definitely check them out
taking Europe back when?
>Not just building castles in the arctic circle, endlessly playing your synth knowing full well that no one will ever tread your frozen wasteland.
What vidya go well with dungeon synth (and black metal) apart from the elder scrolls games
Anything old and ASCII based. Zork, Rogue, etc.
Speaking of Rogue, does anyone else like the NONE OF THIS IS REAL tapes? It has a lot of DS interludes.
Dorf Fort
Been listening since the one user posted them up here. Some great stuff and great sampling.
Wizardry, but have fun trying to actually play that shit.
Runescape, Gauntlet, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights.
Basically any fantasy-based CRPG and/or roguelike.
I also managed to wring fun out of Skyrim by blasting black metal and playing as a viking.
I mentioned it earlier as an example of dungeon hop.
>search dungeon synth wall
>listenn to the albums there, there are full samples of every song of every album listed there
this means I can cut the midle man and easily try everything there and the save on my backlog the good stuff?
Strong runescape vibes from this. I am digging it
Might & Magic, legend of grimrock
I produce DS and lately i've been meaning to mix it up with some other types of electronic music. What genres would work well for that?
I like it!
this has been the nerdiest thread in days. I dig most of this though
