Robert Fripp is forming a new King Crimson lineup. Who do you choose to be in this new King Crimson?

Robert Fripp is forming a new King Crimson lineup. Who do you choose to be in this new King Crimson?

Guitar: Robert Fripp (duh)
Second guitar: John Mclaughlin
Bass: Trevor Dunn
Drums: Bill Bruford
Woodwinds: Ian Underwood

I've always wanted to hear a completely instrumental King Crimson. It may be a bit difficult with both John Mclaughlin and Robert Fripp being very dominating creative forces, but I think it'd be interesting given success.

Adam Jones of Tool
or maybe David Torn

me

I'd replace McLaughlin with Belew

all of smash mouth

Do I have to let Fripp in it?

I only wanted to have one returning past member, and I wanted to form a more fusiony line up. There's no denying Belew's chops though.

Steven Wilson will probably find a way to shoehorn himself in.

...

Sir Richard Bishop
Bill Bruford
Robert Wyatt
Gregg Anderson
Scott Walker
Kanye West

FIGHT ME

bring my boy mike giles back

Guitar: Fripp
Guitar: Larry LaLonde
Bass: Tony Levin
Drums: Steve Shelley
Percussion: Pat Mastelotto

this might be fun

>Larry LaLonde
Why?

why not?

This, instrumental-based KC would force them to adopt some interesting creative ideas.

Pretty hard to top this desu

(You)

actually that'll be some hope that their new album will be available on streaming

He would be producer of a studio album most likely.

Why is that bad?

Greg Lake on vocals please. Will this ever happen?

James MacGaw, the bassist from Magma, on bass. Not even a question.

because he's cringe af and a horribly tacky songwriter with a sound that's getting dated at the speed of light

Jeff Mangum on vocals/bass
Thom Yorke on piano/keys
Panda Bear on drums
Kevin Shields on guitar
Kanye West on vocals/samples/effects

The ultimate meme team.

Actually nvm have them all have vocal parts they can all deviled vocally in their own way.

How does he stretch his hand like that?

he sounds terrible nowadays and completely lost his range

I never liked him to begin with though

if you want a more fusiony line-up put vinnie colaiuta on drums to round off the former zappa guys

Oh my god, Trevor Dunn on bass.. that would be so patricianly I would shit myself

just seems like he'd be a worse Levin honestly

Aside from memeing, what are your real arguments? Their styles aren't similar? How is Steven Wilson a ''tacky songwriter'' exactly? Steven Wilson's music isn't uplifting and cheerful and it has gotten progressively more ''depressive'' and hard to listen to when you're in a good mood. King Crimson's songs aren't exactly happy and poppy sounding, so, what's the problem here?

>yfw meme magic actually makes a Mangum/Yorke/Kanye/Shields/Fripp collab happen

Guitar: Fripp
2nd Guitar: Andy summers
Vocals: Jon anderson
Bass/stick: Tony levin
Drums: Bill bruford

Steven Wilson's current line up including Govan on guitar, Minnemann on drums, Nick Beggs on bass and Wilson on Mellotron

He's a dumb prog purist

Guitar 1: Fripp
Guitar 2:/Vocals : Adrian Belew
Guitar 3: Ben Monder
Guitar 4: Julian Lage
Warr Guitar: Trey Gunn
Bass : Tony Levin

no drums

Drums: Bill Bruford
Guitar 1: Ol' Bobby
Guitar 2: Steve Howe
Bass: The Ghost of Chris Squire
Vocals: Jon Anderson
Keyboards/Woodwinds: Rick Wakeman

good lineup?

Sooo, you want Fragile era Yes?

yes

Same

Bass/Vocals: Greg Lake
Drums: Bill Bruford
Mellotron/Guitar: Robert Fripp

robert fripp on guitar and tape reel
brian eno on synths
phil collins on vocals (no drums)

GET MICHAEL GIRA IN THAT FUCKING BAND RIGHT NOW

This would sound like Fripp's guitar craft students, but more rock. That'd be fucking awesome, never considered King Crimson without drums.

Could I hear an explanation without memeing or ad hominem attacks?

how about we just get another Fripp/Eno album instead
