The third is the USSR flag, and maybe the Japanese flag too
UK CANADA USA
...
If your flag doesn't have a nickname it's basically a nonflag.
What's the US flag nickname
Old Glory
The Stars and Stripes
etc
Come on dude, you're American. You should know this.
>Old glory
>America
>Old
>America
>Glorious
beating u was pretty glorious t b h
The star spangled banner
How is America not glorious? Is there a non banter reason for this?
Oh this is Sup Forums, where America is a shithole that hasn't done anything good ever.
Back when the US was an Anglo nation.
Cringed tbqh
>our flag has two nicknames
>celeste y blanca and albiceleste (lightblue and white)
>it's still basically a nonflag
>we are still an irrelevant country
Why live?
USA
UK
Nazi Germany
Without a doubt the 3 most iconic and well known flags
Hammer & Sickle, desu
Japan
I aggregated the lists from these websites (top google results for "the most iconic national flags")
Top 3 winners are Canada, UK, and USA, with Bhutan, Japan, and Nepal, getting high marks too.

US and UK - iconically good/neutral
Nazi Germany - iconically evil
>neutral
Do you mean inherently iconic or just immediately recognizable because of the country, good or ill?
shart spangled banner
A bit autistic but very informative
...
I have no strong feelings for the UK, tbqh.
What really is the difference outside of flag autists?
Japan is very iconic, as well as BR. basically most of the non tricolors are pretty recognizable after you've only seen them a few times.
I think Nepal gets bonus points for being triangle shaped.
Ours, Italy's, Japan and China's. The rest are irrelevant.
Sup Forums BTFO
>no France mentioned
Nazi Germany, Soviet Union, United Kingdom/United States
>any of the 3 single stripe flags
>iconic
The US flag looks like a retard's pyjamas
I think you mean tricolour
France generally uses the monocolour though
Every flag designer of the last 30 years has cited the Canadian flag as their inspiration
>bonus points
>triangle shaped
what do you with these two tools? first hit your enemy with the hammer then cut his throat?
Never looked into it, I always thought it was farmers and builders which is like a symbol for united workers
They're symbols of industry and farming, derp.
usa
uk
france
japan
sweden
italy
swiss
turkey
south africa
>swiss
Genuinely surprised it took this long 2bh.
Despite Sup Forums memes it is a vexillologists wet dream. Simple, iconic, representative, instantly recognisable.
Makes sense for a flag that was designed by Jacques Saint-Cyr, a genius brand marketer, to be exactly that, an effective brand. Even the design of the leaf was chosen after tests in wind tunnels to determine which pattern was least blurry in high winds.
100% effective, 75% souless marketing.
Germany's is iconic. Easily better than the Frogs. On a par with the rising son.
>Hammer
Represents the industrial worker. You hit metal an things with it.
>Sickle
Represents the farmers. You cut wheat with it.
>Red background
Represents socialism and revolution
>Star
Represents the party and/or the 5 spheres of socialism (workers, farmers, military, intelligentsia and youth)
>Gold colour
Don't know
>son
sun
Also, the leaf is outstanding too.
>Represents the industrial workers. You hit metal and things with it.
fixed
Swiss suffers from the same problem as the Canadian flag sometimes does.
For the few remote 3rd world nations that don't automatically recognise it, they will mistake it for a medical symbol, similarly, Canada's is apparently mistaken by these same people as a general symbol for the sport of ice hockey rather than a national flag
>to be exactly that, an effective brand
its soulless like your cunt
...
Did you lads know at the time of creation your flag looked like a cross section of a battenburg cake?
Iconic
did you know the word "red" and "beautiful" in russian are the same word?
Not my favourite, but not entirely souless.
The maple leaf has been a Canadian symbol for centuries, and, during WWI, many of the trenches were connected by tunnels the walls of which were white and chalky, similar to the Cliffs of Dover. It was customary for soldiers to carve their name, rank, hometown regiment, and a simple symbol. One Québécois carved a beaver, another Maritimer carved a fish, but most Canadians simply carved a maple leaf.
>pyjamas
hmm.. I wonder who's behind this post
I had heard that, yes
That's fuckin' stupid.
Though somewhat adorable and endearing.
Looks kind of stupid with a yellow square partially overlapping a yellow rectangle like that
We'd be lost without Are canuck las.
Britain wouldn't exist without you. Simple as that.
No they aren't, they just sound similar at the start, the word for handsome is also the same but with the masculine "itz" sound at the end.
>captcha for this post
I know they are doing this on purpose somehow
>tfw flag literally a US knockoff by slapping a crescent
>still not iconic
where things gone wrong lads?
t. Canuck on holiday
You're not nearly as iconic as the US. Same with Liberia.
WW2 intrigue. Roosevelt and MacKenzie King.
Yanks were happy to see us occupied. Canucks said no.
You're really really nice people.
>italy
lmao tricolour
italian-americans are the scum of the earth
It flies on every pizzeria so it's iconic. Stay mad :^)
Idk who the fug designed this flag but I think he must have thought that
>"we can be successful like America, it has good vibe on it, so let's copy it"
>"the American Dreamu"
It is true though because we've got problems with illegals passing borders to chase this cunt version of American Dream (most from Phillipenis & Indianesia)
Australia and Canada were so vital, and effective, in WWI that British PM David Lloyd George told his biographer that it was his intention to replace Field Marshall Haig with Canadian Sir Aurthur Currie and Australian Sir John Monash as his chief of staff in 1919.
The PM was ready to hand total control of Britain's entire WWI military over to a Canadian and an Australian.
USA entering the war ended it in earlier due to effective convoy escorts so this never materialised.
Most likely Canadian and Aussies were so good because their officers were much more likely to be hired on merit than the Brits which were predominantly by family.
>oceanic mad that canucks are the chosen sons of the UK colonial empire
lol
I see this sign in America on tons of businesses, not just pizzerias. So Netherlands should be up there
Do you think of Straya as a brother?
Technically that's what you are.
Ireland is yer mum.
Thank you, I love you too. And why you didn't turn us white, like Australia?
Why don't you have a rugby team btw?
We need another son kicking our arse.
Why would you want to be white over your own race and cultural identity?
Rugby and cricket to a lesser extent are still popular here, but handegg and baseball have eclipsed them by a lot. My secondary school had a decent rugby team. At the adult level rugby is mostly played by women (lesbians) while men focus on ice hockey.
I heard that ice hockey is the fastest growing sport in the UK though, the origins of it are from there too.
Hockey is respectable. Forgot about that. That's your rugby.
icon != recognizable
>I heard that ice hockey is the fastest growing sport in the UK though, the origins of it are from there too.
Both sports are gaining popularity, even my shit tier uni had both. NFL has more of a meme following, though they do host games at Wembley so maybe I'm biased. I personally like Ice Hockey more than any other "NA" sport. The coverage here is bad to non-existent but there are quite a few teams popping up around the country.
US
UK
Poland
Are you retarded?
How bourgeoisie and retarded do you have to be to not know what a hammer is used for and whata sickle is used for?
Hockey is the only team sport where each game is interesting desu. Nice and fast paced and aggressive. Not mostly non-action like baseball and football and no pussy diving or stalling like in soccer. Basketball can also be sort of interesting.
We have the Belfast Giants, I mean they're all Canadian with some Irish roots I believe. Not the same though.
Not the Leafs.
Do the Leafs still exist? dat losing streak.
When I followed them Rob Ford was still scoring crack and kicking it down the Danforth.
That's ages ago now.
because I am irrelevant now without my iron and gold mines, which was exhausted by you during the colonial's time.
>since ditc-- tricked to leave Singapura, the rightfully ours clay
>actually the chink outsmart us in agreements so they can took over that island
>Singapore, where everyone around the globe passed by and chink get profit from the taxes.
If you actually left some white settlers here and they breed, at least we have the legacy and actually relevant.
stars and stripes, union jack, rising sun, red cross, and swastika
Union Jack
Union John
Union James
My ancestors are Irish and Scot. Cannon fodder for centuries of British wars and Empire.
We were deposited in Canada and Straya. Our women and grills were bred with Africans in the American colonies to make mullatos.
Why would you want something like that?
Union flag
Jack is on a boat
Define "exist"
Lads.
Does any flag look better when it's waving?
