Because people have different tastes. I regularly attend deathcore/metalcore shows and your typical death metal shows, the scenes will overlap a lot.
Metal and Hardcore are two similar but different styles. They invoke a completely different feeling. Personally I think you get some masterpieces when they clash (i.e Jane Doe).
Fair enough, I like a lot of deathcore bands and am somewhat involved in the scene for them where I live. Although I don't think they're the be-all end-all of heavy. A lot of them use similar rhythms and it gets annoyingly repetitive after a while. Not to mention the lyrics from a lot of these bands are GARBAGE. I prefer the more Hardcore influenced like Despised Icon and to an extent the last two Thy Art is Murder albums.
