>look up tabs for song
>it's not in standard tuning
Look up tabs for song
>Tuning is D#A#DGA#F
>Hi, I'm either too tone deaf to tune a guitar or too dense to rewrite the tabs into standard tuning
God forbid someone trying to learn guitar should learn something about music.
This is only funny when black people make these. Fuck off, mayonnaise
>look up tabs for song
>can't find them
>song in different tunning
>got locking nut floyd rose
>"yeah, I'm pretty good at guitar"
>only plays in standard tuning
>he plays in standard
I play the keyboard I don't know this feel, but I heard there's something good guitar players do called "transposing"
>Tunes guitar to bizarre tunings, completely destroying any chance he had of learning intervals
>thinks he's a "real guitarist" because he can turn knobs
The only acceptable tuning alteration is to drop the low E. Anything else is shit.
>Thinks he knows intervals because he can put two fingers down and make it sound good
>Can't do the mental calculations to figure them out when the tuning is different.
Ehh, why am I even trying, all "musicians" without real music theory background are pure garbage.
Enjoy not being able to improvise because your muscle memory is completely fucked. The guitar is tuned almost entirely in fourths for a reason: so that what works on two strings works on (mostly) any other pair of them. You change more than 1 string you're destroying that for little benefit that would be better served by using a capo or barring anyway.
It's interesting how you're talking about "music theory" when, if you had any real knowledge of theory, you'd know that this sort of tuning system is exactly what they do with all string instruments (tuning in fifths). Playing from tab does not make you an expert musician, and if you ruin your ability to improvise and translate tab into intervals by changing the tuning, you are limiting yourself even further.
someone please recommend me an easy song to play on guitar i've had mine for a week and i'm really bad need help still can't play a b chord or d flat
Dumbest shit I ever read. Yes, muscle memory is important when playing an instrument, but changing your tuning from standard won't ruin the muscle memory you develop. Whoever told you that was just trying to incite some kind of Music Man-style moral panic in order to get you to not have fun and try new things.
Scordatura offers interesting opportunities for drones, resonance, and different chord voicings and that's lost if you only use the same tuning.
>implying I would even touch a guitar or that I'd ever play from tabs if they even had that for my instrument
No thank you.
>he relies on muscle memory to improvise
>he relies on string intervals to improvise
Hahaha holy shit, what a sad little faggot
That's called Drop D tuning you mong
Also, your ear is always going to be your most important feedback while playing, not your autistic memorization of every part of the fingerboard.
Embarassing: the poster
seriously someone help me please would be appreciated
I recommend you to commit suicide.
Tune the fucking guitar to whatever the song is in you simp
>Song is in CFCFCF
>Tuning your guitar up risks fucking up your high strings
Buy less shitty strings
>look up tabs
>songs is for 7-string guitar
For your next song I recommend you sell your guitar and buy a clarinet or a bugle or something with some small strain of originality.
>floyd rose
You deserve it
I'm pretty sure I know that guy.
The only valid complaints ITT
You are all stupid fucks. All op is saying is that he'd rather not retune his guitar is its a hassle. Not that he can't Jesus Christ you incompetent fucks are quick to attack
Oh shit, hi there OP
If that's what you meant then what did you mean by ?
>look up tabs for a song
>only one link
>doesn't even have chords or anything, just the lyrics
fucking hell
Doesn't need to be ;]
why are there so many faggots on this board that power trip over playing music and learning music theory?
how is it knowing that you have completely wasted your time learning something that will never yield anything of real value?
>Using tabs and not learning by ear master race
see
1) It's fun to talk shit online
2) If hundreds of hours of doing something you enjoy and watching yourself slowly improve isn't of any real value I really have no idea what's wrong with you.
>look up tabs for song
>it's for a microtonal guitar
But I barely know any music theory. I just have natural perfect pitch hearing that allows me to solo in any key in any tuning flawlessly
And of course it lets me laugh at fools who rely on scale patterns like you
senpai try something like Blue Jeans by Lana Del Rey
I think (from memory) it's G, D, Am, Am
if you looking for something more riffy, try Dammit by Blink 182
> no fun
> not ever
>2) If hundreds of hours of doing something you enjoy and watching yourself slowly improve isn't of any real value I really have no idea what's wrong with you.
this is great when youre doing something meaningful.
sounds pretty worthless
Learning music theory is pretty damn important lad
At the very least, you should know how all the chords in any given minor or major key
> there is anything wrong with this
It isn't worthless when I can just go onstage and play based on what I hear. Whereas mentally slow plebeians like you have to slowly memorize each and every scale
Whole tone scale? I just need to know what it sounds like and I can go. Diminished scale? Even easier. Modes become a piece of cake when you have perfect pitch hearing.
Please tell me you guys know that using tabs to learn a song is completely useless
>look up tabs for song
>they're not correct
This. A good majority of songs cannot be interpreted into the tablature format.
if you aren't a professional musician and you have learned anything about muic theory you have completely wasted your time and should acknowledge that playing music as a hobby isn't something that is important. playing music on your acoustic guitar in your spare time isn't anymore meaningful than playing video games or watching sports on tv or something.
my point is mostly that there's no reason to be an ass when someone is having trouble learning the guitar
>I'M TOO INCOMPETENT TO DO IT SO IT'S A WASTE OF TIME
Good going
Got the guitar for $20, but u are
Right i deserve it
nice deflection playing music is one of my biggest interests I'm just realistic about it and also not a dickhead
What
>d-d-deflection
Niiiiiiiiiiiice
You're the same guy who's too incompetent to play in alternate tunings because he relies on scale patterns, right?
I feel nothing but pity for you.
>look up tab
>obscure open tuning half a step down with capo past the 9th fret
>high e string replaced with a string the same size as b
>look up tabs for guitar
>only find mandolin tabs
>being this butthurt on the internet
you know where to go
tbqh, once you understand how most songs are simply 1 6 4 5 or some combination of those chords, you can instantly play hundreds of pop songs
it really opens up your playing
my skill level has no bearing on the argument I'm making especially when neither of us can prove to one another that we're skilled musicians you would realize that if you weren't a delusional retard. I'm telling you to have a more realistic view of your hobby and to realize its just as frivolous as being good at donkey kong 64 so theres no reason to be pompous about it
>of your hobby
Except that I'm a professional working musician?
Just because you waste your time when regarding music doesn't mean that everyone else is as much of a waste of time and space as you are.
Why?
>being a professional working musician
>posting on Sup Forums
anyone like mark kozelek?
Yes. Do you have a problem with that?
not really its just that I haven't really met very many musicians that aren't willing to help or teach people basic things about the instruments they play but it make sense that the ones like yourself would also waste their time pontificating on here
just never met someone irl that ever turned their nose up at someone for not being able to play an instrument. always thought you would have to be retarded to do that but here I am on Sup Forums at 3 am
Fucking blitzkrieg bop, like are you serious? I thought that was everybody's beginner song
What's your hobby user? Video games and masturbation? Wow, if only I couldn't shred on guitar and could do something like that
C'mon, it's hard to acommodate to new tunings when you're starting out. As far as tone sensibility goes, you can train it, and tuning your guitar is one way of doing it. I would recommend beginners don't get discouraged and try new tunings
>tuning is BEBEBE
you are a faggot
...
Opeth does that a lot.
>look up tabs for song
>it's not in C tuning
My beginner song was Fake Plastic Trees. I don't even know who Blitzkrieg Bop is by
Fight me
Serves you right for having a faggot metal guitar.
This so hard.
Everyone is wrong ITT, this is the most infuriating.
>look up tabs
>dad comes in the room and tells you how disappointed and ashamed of you he is
>crying too hard to play the song
This happens too often :(
literally kill yourself
>look up tabs for song
>it's in D#-C-Gb-F7-A#b-S tuning
You can't tune a string to a fucking chord you retard
>look up tabs to a song
>its just the bass part tabbed for guitar
Not with that attitude, you can't
you can tune multiple strings to a chord though, you fucking neanderthal
Where did I say you can't? Open chord tunings are totally viable
>look up tab
>only opening riff
>Not experimenting with open tunings and figuring out your own based on chords and scales you want to use
I've been playing for about a decade (actual playing not just strumming open chords), and I hardly ever leave standard tuning. I just don't feel a need to.
>look up tabs to play with band
>tab has 6 different guitars that could easily be merged into 4
>still only have 2 guitarists
>find song everyone can agree on
>rhythm guitarist can't deal with rhythm guitar part
>switch
>rhythm guitarist cocks the solo part just as bad
>look up tabs to a song
>can't play it, get frustrated and quit playing
I'm going to release the tightest, most avant garde album using only barre chords, just you wait.
underrated
Just started a few months back, so I do know some really easy songs:
El Paso by Marty Robbins
(Good for learning chords and finger picking)
No Rain by Blind Melon
Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell
After that practice bar chords and stuff like that and start trying to do songs you like. Ultimate Guitar has really good tabs, usually. Good luck.
(Also if you think those songs are bad or pleb or something thats not the point. They're easy and fun.)
>user why don't you play us that one song on your guitar
>I'd rather not, besides I don't even know how to play it
>Oh that's okay you just strum something and we'll sing the lyrics together xD
It hurts 9gag, it really does
Are you fucking kidding me?! It's the most famous Ramones song.
>watch a guitarist go absolutely nuts on stage and still hit every note
>try to even slightly move standing up and ruin everything
epic meme bro
I thought everyone learns the riff to Smoke on the Water first. That and all of Smells Like Teen Spirit were my beginners
>look up tabs for song
>it's FAGDAD tuning
then change the tuning you faggot
>I don't even know who Blitzkrieg Bop is by
dude
