Remember Romance languages are all just fucked up versions of Latin. The three that posted there would (most likely) natively speak Portuguese, Spanish, and French all of which came from good ol' Latin.
You can use the same sustantive for different purposes by changing the article.
Or use an adjective as a sustantive without an article to use it in complex sentences where you're describing several individuals.
"Stólurin, hann er gronur" = "The chair, he is green"
