These threads are diarrhoea. You're all so bland and clueless.
I've been absent from /noise/ for the past 7 months
What are the big/essential/relevant releases I missed this year so far?
What's there to look forward to?
Only listened to pic related so far, as a big Helm fan I was sort of disappointed.
that may be, but pic related isn't bland or diarrhea

Thanks for the share mate.
Daily reminder the Skin Crime box set link in the archive is still going so hit that shit up
It's sharing like this that makes me love /noise/. These generals get a lot of shit and what not but God damn they're my favorite threads on Sup Forums
dylandilella.bandcamp.com
Please consider this.
K2 - Crude Soup
>Low-end heavy Japanoise assault from one of the best
mega.nz
Higher quality scans are in the download, I can't upload them here without timing out.
no worries lads
Not noise
What determines that? One of the tags is noise.
Anyone can tag guitar experimentation and jamming as noise, but that doesn't make it noise.
Different user but to me it feels more like solo guitar noise rock than straight up harsh noise
It's not even noisy
well, it's not going to sound noisy to people in a harsh noise thread t b f lol
I understand that, but you're not actually saying why this isn't noise
I can see this as well, but what exactly is the difference between solo guitar noise-rock and noise music? What stops it from being noise music?
I would have to disagree with you here. I'm not saying this is especially harsh but there is definitely a strong noise element.
...
What the hell even is noise then?
This is not a harsh noise thread. This is just a noise music general.
your'e listening to it.
... a rotating fan?
Does anyone have recs for similar to Ben Frost, Fuck Buttons, Haxan Cloak, Roly Porter, etc? Are they even noise? They're more melodic than the harsh noise / wall noise I see posted in these threads.
thanks, I'm liking this
>solo guitar noise rock
See, that's funny, because when I posted this same artist with a full band, playing similarly dissonant, noisy music, in the noise rock general, they got all pissy
Try listening to some.
Ah. It's that kinda stuff, where they just record train sounds and upload it directly. Welp, not for me, I guess.
Concrete Mascara - History Of Ruin
>Grimy, filthy lo-fi Power Electronics. One of the best tapes of 2015, I cannot recommend this enough
mega.nz
Some of you may have already heard this but I want to share it anyway because I like it so much.
So where did we fall on this?
Definitely wouldn't consider these noise
City Medicine - Specter North
>Gravelly tape music bordering on Drone. The sound of a city crumbling.
mega.nz
Even disregarding that I don't consider it noise, it just sounds really plain on its own. It's reminiscent of some Sun City Girls, but without the other instruments, vocals, or charm. Use some effects, attach an interesting concept to it, be creative with production, etc. It sounds aimless.
What not even Fuck Buttons?
Alright, that's your opinion, that's fine. I'm more interested in why you don't consider it noise.
leans more towards noise rock, you could say it technically falls under the noise umbrella but to stop another 40 posts arguing over semantics what's mostly discussed here is power electronics, death industrial, harsh noise, tape music/manipulation and stuff a long those lines. I wouldn't mind if abrasive noise rock started being discussed here though.
Just dropping in to say thanks very much for uploading & sharing these -- first time on Sup Forums in a while and this thread is full of great stuff!
>power electronics, death industrial, harsh noise, tape music/manipulation and stuff a long those lines.
That's fine, but people who post and frequent a general about noise music should realize it has a broader scope than just those subgenres.
I mean it gets close but it's too beat oriented to be noise. When I think of noise I think of things that challenge any sort of structure. Not to say I don't love Fuck Buttons though.
Dead Boomers - Half Windsor
>Sparse, minimal Power Electronics
mega.nz
No worries man, it's always good to share the love.
Even noise rock has certain elements reminiscent of industrial and noise. Harshness is a "general" characteristic of noise, but of course it doesn't have to be all that harsh. Noisiness is still an important factor. It just sounds like experimental guitar work. It's chaotic, but not really noisy, and despite its chaotic sounds, it's still very structured and straightforward compared to noise and noise rock. If you applied effects and really messed around with the sounds and utilized abrasiveness, I might be able to consider it noise rock at least, but noise has a distinctness to it that's difficult for me to articulate right now. I'm not trying to be offensive here, but it doesn't seem to me like you're too familiar with noise at all. These threads generally deal with harsh noise, industrial, power electronics, etc. Not just anything "experimental" is necessarily noise.
Guy who posted the BY THE THROAT artwork here, I see what you mean. I'd argue old Fuck Buttons ("Race You To My Bedroom") or certain Ben Frost ("Diphenyl Oxylate" / "Killshot") is noise, but overall they're not noise. What would you consider them though? Experimental electronic? The Haxan Cloak I think could be considered dark ambient.
Yeah I'd agree Haxan Cloak is dark ambient and I'd probably say Fuck Buttons is Industrial Electronic which I consider to be different enough from straight industrial/power electronics
>difficult for me to articulate right now
That much is clear. I don't see why this can't be considered noise.
Sure it's guitar, but that's not uncommon in noise music. Sure, it's not as harsh as most of the stuff you guys discuss here, but as you say it's not about harshness. You say it's not really noisy, but it's dissonant and atonal and distorted, and keeps being compared to noise rock. Clearly it's noisy.
You say it's chaotic and experimental, but then say it's structured and straighforward, while the music itself is improvised. The only concrete thing you've said is that it's not abrasive enough for you, but again, as you said, it doesn't have to be all that harsh. And then you end by implying I'm not familiar with noise.
Going by whatever definitions of noise music I can find, this is noise music. Hell, last time I was in one of these threads people were talking about Okkyung Lee, and I don't see how she's noise music and Dylan DeLilla isn't.
As for the noise rock angle, noise rock is to some degree a subgenre of noise music. and
Well, like I said, maybe it'll more clearly present itself to you with a greater exploration into noise music.
I doubt it will. Seeing as you, who apparently have enough years experience with noise music to be a judge, can't articulate it or explain it meaningfully.
How many years experience do you have, since you've brought it up twice now?
I'm totally new to power electronics so I did some searching and landed on Genocide Organ and Author & Punisher. The former I agree is different from Fuck Buttons, it sounds a lot less structured and organized although some textures are the same. The latter I'm enjoying more than Genocide Organ.
No need to get defensive. I've listened to noise music for years and have a good understanding of its background. I'm being serious when I say you'll get a better understanding of what we're talking about by actually immersing yourself into the genre and what is generally discussed in these threads, which by now it's clear you haven't. This has become pointless and I'm not going to discuss this any further. I explained myself as well as I can as of right now, and if that's not enough, then whatever.
You've said nothing of substance, disagreed with me without giving actual factually based counter-arguments, insisted that you knew better based on apparently nothing, and then three times insinuated that I wasn't well-versed enough in noise music, despite the fact that you're the one who can't explain the principles and theories of it well enough.
This is insulting, honestly.
If it's so insulting, leave the thread.
Well that was a strangely productive little back and forth, feels good
I'm not going to leave just because you clearly have no valid argument and are tired of being unable to articulate properly.
Right? This is why I still stick around Sup Forums. Every once in a blue moon you have a good chat, try something new, maybe even find something you like. I'm going to bed now but thanks for the good discuss user.
Right back atcha
I hate to side with the guy that seems to be a newbie, but this is noise music. It's not harsh noise but it's on the level of something like Metal Machine Music. The guitar sounds a little two much like an actual guitar sometimes, which might be why it's getting called noise rock.
What's some good stuff to put in a shaker box? I'm going to add glass for sure
Bugs
Add a small dead animal. Semi-skeletal.
Maybe some sort of chain
I have tried a fly in a small glass jar, didn't work out to well

The write-up on the distro page describes this one really well:
>Haunted industrial hymns crawl through morose darkness. Lucifer laughs as the cities decay.
Worth a look.
bumpin good thread
Tape up or hot glue seal those solder points and element. Those metal bits will short out your mic.
Description sounds promising, ty
Ah this one is great. Been meaning to get some more stuff from Trapdoor. Fuck, I'll just go buy some now
thanku for all of these v much appreaciated
Rec me some ambient noise, something that's similar to white noise, but a bit more musical.
what are your honest opinions on vomir
I really like these. Particularly the first link.
Although I don't know if you'd classify it as noise. Give it a listen anyway.
He'd be cool to experience live, but I don't care for his recorded output or HNW in general, unless its something special like Ba. Ku. or some Rita releases.
I think Vomir makes a point of having his releases be as boilerplate as a HNW release can get though.
Props to him for carving a niche and being king of it though.
Is there a 2016 Noise chart?
Hey /noise/, it's been a while since I've shown up to one of these threads, so I figured I'd do my regular thing and share shit that nobody cares about.
First up: a tasty comp from 1987 on Geschmack Records. Featuring Merzbow, Incapacitants, the Gerogerigegege, Grim, and others.
Various artists - Die Schönste Musik Of Japan Vol. 1 [1987]
>noise, industrial, compilation
mega.nz
I've been looking all over for this, and I haven't been able to find anything, which seems really strange to me. I'm *this* close to buying it, just to put it online, but it could be a while.
Not that I know of, but Jason Crumer - Stare at the Devil is one of my favorites this year
There's a request on What but no download
Next: The first solo album of Mayuko Hino, of C.C.C.C. and bondage pornography fame. Was only released on iTunes, so has been difficult for many people to find.
Mayuko Hino - Akashic Records [2014]
>noise, dark ambient

>Only released on iTunes
that's super weird, thanks for the share
