Is there such a thing as non cheesy Power Metal?
All Nasum tracks.
So, which do you prefer. The original Unsuccesfully Coping or the Origin of Feces version?
Most US power metal isn't that cheesy compared to the European variant.
There's actually plenty.

that's why it sucks ass.
power metal is meant to be cheesy
USPM
80s/90s JPM
European proto-power metal/speed metal
>USPM sucks ass
wew lad
>power metal is meant to be cheesy
US invented power metal and USPM definitely isn't nearly as cheesy as europower. USPM is still rooted in riff-based songwriting without as much focus on chorus whereas europower is lead-driven, sugarcoated in keyboards pop rock.
Iron savior kicks ass man
>european garbage

>A continent invented style of music
kill urself fucking retarded america nigger
Give me the most hipster album you have, no liturgy of deafheaven please
I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU
Are you retarded user? The first power metal groups came from America. America had a power metal scene before power metal crossed the seas into Europe and Japan, where Europeans sugarcoated it with keyboards and the Japanese sugarcoated it with glam

>continent
America generally refers to the country just by slang, lad. Most people say North America or South America when referring to the continents.
by most hipster do you mean most obscure or most pitchfork
yeah soil of America bursted uspm like the fucking weed and grass played DUDE USPM LMAO in naturalistic harmony there
both
I just wanna to hear something very different
...
The fuck are you on about?
>being this butthurt
it's time to stop posting and calm down user
what
Gojira is made for hipsters, whether you like it or not
any power metal is noncheesy if you decide to let go of that concept
first thing to come to mind for that is Yoga: Megafauna
Im not that upset but a part of me did die when i heard that Volumes and Struc/tures collaboration project Vol/tures fell through
just imagine what that much chudcore in one package could have been
Thanks, I was in need of something like this
Unsuccesfully Coping
That last song though... holy fuck. Can't think of a more epic closer besides maybe Returning to the Source by Persefone.
Has anyone heard this? Thoughts?
Did someone say epic closers?
This better not be a meme. I usually don't listen to black metal, but I'll give it a try.
>thinking about genres at all.
>excluding music just because someone called it 'black metal'
t. embryo
Coming to /metal/ since you guys have helped me before
Favorite Metal Albums:
Baroness- Purple & Yellow
High by Fire - Lumineferous
Pantera- Cowboys From Hell
Vektor- Terminal Redux
Orange Goblin- Eulogy for the Damned
Recs?
meme detox
It's not about labels you idiot. I just don't like the vocal style typically used in black metal, it's just a buzzkill for me.
xd
Kek, literally all of those are shit except for Vektor. What I reccomend is getting better taste, user.
what is the metal equivalent of officer Judy Hopps ?
>no black metal
Listen to black metal.
>Coming for help
>get better taste
thanks a ton

>intentionally coming off as a pussy who actually expected a website known for making people kill themselves to help

>Been on Sup Forums for years and gotten great recommendations for music
>expecting help from genuinely knowledgeable people
Newfag
Then you of all people should know that Sup Forums is a cesspit of cancer, and that only very few threads are safe.
If you really liked Vektor and want to hear more of that type of progressive music, then I have a few reccomendations for you.
1. Persefone- Spiritual Migration
2. Ne Obliviscaris- Citadel
3. In Vain- Ænegma
4. Between the Buried and Me- Alaska
5. In Mourning- The Shrouded Divine
I threw in that last one as a bonus, although it is not like the others. All of these are great pieces of progressive metal which really anyone from any genre can get into. For Ne Obliviscaris, the clean vocals may turn you off at first, but they can really grow on you and there are some really brilliant songs.
If you don't have time to these entire albums, I'll reccomend one individual song from each so you can sort of sample it.
1. Persefone- Inner Fullness
2. Ne Obliviscaris- Painters of the Temptest (part 2)
3. In Vain- Image of Time
4. BTBAM- Selkies: the endless obsession
5. In Mourning- The Black Lodge
The vocals are generally pretty low as opposed to shrieky, and the track just builds and builds up into this great climax. I'd also rec the closer on this record as well

God all those pseudo-prog bands triggered me
>proge
le mao
>Ne Obliviscaris
>Citadel over Portal of I
Brieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Say what you want, but progressive metal is typically the most complex, the most interesting, and the most audibly pleasing genres. They tend to have some of the most memorable riffs in metal.
Poe's law
>They tend to have some of the most memorable riffs in metal
is this bait
They are both really good, but I choose Citadel over Portal of I any day. Nothing beats the last 3 minutes of Pyrrhic, and Painters of the Temptest is simply a 16 minute journey that every metal listener should take.
Holy fedora
Nah. I get that it may be too much for some people, but it just really strikes a chord with me. Chances are if you like Terminal Redux by Vektor, you will like the other bands as well.
Give this a shot, skip to 3:25, and listen to the last 4 minutes.
m.youtube.com
Nah, I don't really consider one genre superior to any other, but prog has some really groovy tunes that would be a shame to miss out on
>Give this a shot, skip to 3:25, and listen to the last 4 minutes.
well? what about it
it sounds like a forced over-sentimental chord progression tb h
like dream theater usually tend to do
MICHAAAAAAAAA
Fuck off blackies
There's alot of emotion in it, yeah. But that's what I love about it, it seems like they really tried to create something memorable, and it worked for me. I heard that song maybe 7 years ago and I haven't forgotten, so I guess it worked for me. Anyways, thanks for not being a bigot and actually listening.
>proge is the new black
calm your fedora le progeman
name a better metal song than Chapel of Ghouls
I'll wait
(Was a randomfag)
World Eater
Morbid Angel is boring
Jk, but seriously.
after listening to Morbid Angel, most other metal is boring
God of Emptiness and Immortal Rites are better
>not using clover 2
Condemned To Obscurity
>Caring about how I access Sup Forums
...Ok?
Similar albums?
What does /metal/ think of this album?
i think its a big stinking pile of shit
>tfw you don't wanna be you
I love peter o toole
I am not gay, but these are two men I would take up my ass if you know what I mean
I think I'm gonna get it.
The sound is really improved quite a lot
>mfw new Devin Townsend single is AtmoDjent

I still don't know why he chose such a shitty cover
>being subscribed to Nuclear Blast
>hating Nuclear Blast
that chorus and solo though. So happy he seems to have dialled back a bit on '800% happy all the time stadiumtunes'
>They sort of remind me of Arch Enemy
Try listening to sound of toilet flushing
go back to listening to Epica nerd haha
What did you guys think of the new Alcest? Theyre back to their old sound and it sounds fucking great.
>liking the epitome of what's wrong with the music industry
