Tom Waits, Nick Drake, Beat Happening once again

ur taste is all over the fucking place, ur cool though

i'm the dude with the chart before yours. if you haven't heard yo la tengo's Sounds of Science album, you should definitely do that.

Hey ya'll, hows it goin?

Nice taste. Quick question regarding some of the "classics" on your chart.

Regarding The Doors, Velvet Underground, and pixies, what do you love about them? Personally I can appreciate them for the massive amount of influence I can hear from them in the bands I love, but I don't actually like their music all that much. Excluding Pixies because I haven't heard that album yet, but I feel like it falls under the same category.

I'm on kind of a daniel johnston binge right now, what do you think about 1990? Nice taste btw.

I've been meaning to listen to more of them, will definitely check it out, thanks user

>ur cool though
u too

Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space

>what do you think about 1990
One of his best, if your really into Daniel Johnston check out the documentary "The Devil and Daniel Jonhston"

Nice taste senpai. I'm the chart above yours. We have shockingly similar taste in music, any recs? Likewise, I'd rec you Bjork - Homogenic, and Xiu Xiu - A Promise, either that or Fabulous Muscles depending on where your taste falls.

Pretty mainstream teen taste for the most part, but that's chill. What do you think about Cherry Bomb? It's not my favorite album by Tyler, but it's definitely not his worst IMO. Bastard is my favorite album.

Have you gotten the Preoccupations leak yet?
Check out Earth - Earth 2: Special Low Frequency Version

>Bjork
>Xiu Xiu
Thanks my man. As for recs, id probably rec you Spiritualized as well, just because it's a pretty fuckjng good album, and based on your chart you should like it. Try Grizzly Bear - Yellow House too

>Erratas or Bust!
have you heard of deep internet?
check out the tag on bandcamp
Techno Animal - The Brotherhood of The Bomb

what's julien baker like

Not person you asked, but she's a singer/songwriter. personally I found the music boring, but you may enjoy it. It's minimal, sort of folksy.

I faintly remember listening to Peripheral Vision by turnover sometime back. Will give it another listen

yes, I love what ive listened so far. Sad for the name-change though, the previous one sounded way too cool

julien baker is like the occasional summer breeze when youre out at the beach. Mixture of folk and fuzzy, with gentle vocals. Give it a try!

listen to olivia tremor control and the apples in stereo if you haven't, they'd be right up yer alley.

i can't wait for more julien baker, she's got so much potential. check out jessica pratt and angel olsen.

ozma - rock and roll part 3

feel free to ask 4 reccs

can you give me recs? this is me

...

Regarding your question about "classics" I honestly just enjoy the music. I think if you strip it away from all the influential nonsense it can give you a more open mind when you listen to it. For TVU, I guess I just like their whole "aesthetic" of drugs, New York etc, kinda like sonic youth. Also even though they're influential literally no other band I've heard can make songs like Venus In Furs or The Murder Mystery. As for the Doors, they just sound dope. I don't think you would like them but if you're into psychedelic piano playing and cool poetry like lyrics you'll enjoy them. Also listen to the pixies for sure, they're so good. Sorry for rambling.

The pleb himself reporting in, would love to rec others some stuff but I honestly dont know enough, sorry

Now now, let's not make any judgments here. Just because this is the only Cuban album on my chart does NOT mean it's the only one I've heard, does it? This is a top 40 chart, and I have listened to more than 40 albums.

Thats why i put the list goes on :^)

huerco s. - untitled and colonial patterns

OP here, you and I seem very similar

Thanks my man

True, it's mainly Sup Forumscore though, so i expect that most people here like a majority of these albums.
I also notice you have some Flaming Lips records in your chart, they seem like a perfect fit for my taste but i never managed to get into them, idk why.

OP again, I just got around to them recently, and they have some really incredible stuff. and based on your chart, you'd like them for sure

...

hi

>You're more intelligent than most people
Meh. In some ways but not in others.
>a bit too paternal, knowwhatimean?
Haha, not really. I'm 19 and I've no plans to have kids.
Most of the people I've met who like the sort of stuff I do have been young people around my age. Most of the Dads I've known haven't had very similar taste to me.
I guess I like a lot of older music though?

:^)

u dig?

Not a bad start.
I'd reccomend checking out some more classics of the genre.
Has a bunch of really good charts. JTG's in particular is a great tool for exploring stuff by the bigger movements.
I'd also just reccomend to try following along with the soloists as much as you can when you're listening to jazz. Often there is good stuff going on in the accompaniment and interaction between the group but I remember when I first started listening to jazz, for like the first year or so, I just had a tendency to let the music wash over me. I was missing a lot of detail in records that ended up becoming my favourites and the practice changed the way I hear music for the better I think.
/blindfold/ is pretty cool too if you've got the time and energy to spare.

you laugh when listening to music
you make weird faces when masturbating/having sex
your room is very bright
you like to dance

Yeah, I think I let the music wash over me too much. Although I absolutely love the guitar solo in the title track of "Idle Moments", so I should probably check out more of Grant Green's stuff.

...

Recs?

He's worth digging into alright and Idle Moments is an album well worth hearing a few times. I was always really partial to Nomad too. Joe, Bobby and Grant are fucking fire on it.

I'm , we seem to have pretty similar taste. Listen to Mercury Rev - Yerself is Steam, and Boces. Also if you havent digged into AnCo yet, do it.
Check out Candy Claws - Ceres & Calpyso in the Deep Time as well.

Finally got around to getting my top 100 on the new site. Definitely a lot faster to add stuff, and thank god you can move tiles around 'cause I missed an album somewhere in the 50s and would've had to redo half the thing in the old topsters.

Mission of Burma- Vs.
nice
Tindersticks- [II]

heh, yeah. Just made an account with this name the other day. Good times.

Not in any particular order
You seem like you'd be nice to hang out with

neat, there are some nights (EST) where it's more active with cool ppl. but i imagine that would be an issue for you, given the different timezones.

Moscow Olympics - Cut the world
Jaime sin tierra - autochocador

Ah, cool. Yeah, that can be tricky, but it depends on how late tho. It could be an option for me to wake up early in the morning to join if it's on during the night.
