I only have this one but i'm not satisfied

Bowie should have covered it

Dream Lover by Destroyer immediately comes to mind, also In the Meantime by Spacehog and maybe stuff from the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack, specifically "The Ballad of Maxwell Demon"

Agreed for Destroyer and Edwyn Collins ! Thanks. I think Spacehog and the Velvet Goldmine are a bit too simple to be from Bowie. The melodies and arrangements are too lights :)

I was thinking of this one by Scott Walker. Sounds like Berlin era !

The Passenger - Iggy Pop
Perfect Day - Lou Reed
Needles in the Camel's Eye - Brian Eno

First song that came to mind:

Bowie even covered this too. The first four tracks off this album are extremely Berlin era Bowie

Considering Bowie produced both The Passenger and Perfect Day that's accurate.

most of the idiot, desu
yeah, i know bowie practically made the idiot but whatever
maybe a bit of transformer too

fever by preoccupations

Wow, thanks ! Looks like him in the 70's !

Was actually co-written by Bowie, if I recall correctly.

not co-wrote, he has the sole writing credit

when sung by him it has all the hallmarks of a bowie song, beyond just the vocals

Yeah I guess that song is cheating desu, it was written by Bowie then given to Mott The Hoople because they were going to split up due to a lack of success, but he liked them and wanted them to stay together.

Even the version recorded by Mott The Hoople sounds like it came straight off Ziggy Stardust though.

>bowie wrote a song just to keep a band he liked together
literally divine intervention, I swear he was a bona fide god of music made flesh

>god of music made flesh

Pretty much.

To be fair, I think All The Young Dudes was already written before he gave it to them, but it's still cool. Especially when you consider the fact that the song was a hit - Bowie definitely could have bolstered his popularity further with the song but gave it away instead. Pretty fucking based that when giving away a song he gave them a prime cut and not some b-side.

Although his b-sides are fucking great:

a lot of stuff off of Prince's album Parade, but most notably "Girls and Boys"

openly ripping off the "Low" sound. they even have a budget Eno mime-ing on keys!

also this song always sounded like it could've been made by late 70s bowie, with all the kraftwerk vibes it has and his image

If I Had A Tail - Qotsa
