You can feel, really feel, in every single little sub 2 minute songs, how depressed Nick Drake was. How much little happiness life gave him anymore. Not to belittle the album, but it feels small. There's no emotional swells, or huge choruses, just these little vignettes of Drake's sad mind, and you come out of the whole things feeling like you're nothing.
