Modest Mouse desu

Although you prolly already know that.

Lonesome Crowded West/ Moon & Antarctica

Always thought this was the psychedelic version of Perfect From Now On

How much indie rock type stuff have you heard? If you're just breaking into it listen to Dinosaur Jr. - You're Living All Over Me and Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West

not him, but I love Modest Mouse and could never get into BtS desu
>tfw

YLAOM is already one of my favorites, but I haven't listened to Modest Mouse. I'm not too new to indie rock but I've been avoiding it for awhile, kind of had a negative feeling towards it overall until listening to this.

Same child-like sense of wonder. Masterpiece.

try googling alt rock and you might find what yer looking for desu :)

they are pretty great opie- TNWYL, PFNO, KILAS are all great albums. modest mouse is in the neighborhood, pinback bite their style in good ways (ST, and blue screen life are good), pavement

perfect from now on is pretty far from standard alt-rock
why am i replying to bait

also the wrens' meadowlands

Funny thing how Perfect From Now On is so much patrician than this, and I say this as a GBV fan

if you like built to spill and havent listen to this i would recommend it

GBV is the greatest band that has ever lived

I disagree as a fan of both. While Perfect is the best BTS album, i think There Is No Enemy is their most underrated

i'm not the user you're responding to but dude
absolutely
i love that album so much. the second half is incredible, oh yeah --> pat, the almost psychedelic jamming of done, the entirety of things fall apart and life's a dream... i just love the somber tone of the album, it has the best lyrics of any of their albums for sure. it reminds me of a more mature, introspective KILAS, especially aisle 13 and planting seeds

...

OP you said you had struggled in the past to get into indie rock yet really grew to love this album...
i don't know you but we probably have some differing fundamental assumptions about music
and maybe it's wrong for me to think we differ so much by such an innocuous admission
but anyway I hate recommending music to people who like Built to Spill but probably didn't like Pavement or GBV
ultimately I think that it's a great record but it's tainted by prog while plenty of other people are like 'this is what I've always been looking for, where has it been all my life' and I'm like you fools are missin out on what's real yo
im tired

Pavement and GBV sound similar enough but BtS sounds nothing like either band.

The problem is people get hung up on arbitrary genres like indie rock that mean nothing. I think OP wants shoegaze or Hum or or some other cathartic music with a big sound.

listen to yo la tengo, sebadoh, archers of loaf, the beta band, 12 rods

just curious who are your top five composers/bands

If you want a more fuzzed out and sporadic version of that try early Dinosaur Jr. Pic related or You'really Living All Over Me.

You're *

Fucking auto correct

Keep It Like A Secret

seconding this

pic related is like a mix between modest mouse and BTS
