This Marc Jacobs Fall collection is LITERALLY dedicated to mallgoth (Haino, Genesis P-Orridge, Marilyn Manson, Sopor Aeternus, etc.).
Who buys this shit?
Nathan Jackson
Haino, Genesis P-Orridge, Marilyn Manson, Sopor Aeternus, etc.
Nolan Hill
I would buy that hoodie so fucking much. i would be like an anime or something i don't know but it's hella rad
Christopher Brown
most Shamepai thing I've ever read
Cameron Gray
Goddammit why didn't I think about it I should've at least considered going as Keiji Haino for Otakon. How many people do you guys think would actually recognize it at an American anime convention of all things if any at all?
Gabriel Nelson
Close to none. The main problem is that the people who would recognize it are the people you wouldn't want to talk to.
Jace Brown
I once thought that if i went to a halloween party i would convince my hypothetical girlfriend to dress as Haino (i would dress as one of the Sunn 0))) boys) T-thanks But really that hoodie is so cool
Henry Stewart
Well, there is one panel there about a j-pop group, two about visual kei/metal, one on japanese indie music, and one on punk/hardcore.
Nah I would wanna dress up as Haino and then have her dress as either in a dominatrix style costume or some sorta punk as fuck trashy yet sexy thing that you'd expect someone like say...Jarboe during early Swans or Joan Jett or whoever. The extra swag from that combo will be too much.
Carter Garcia
absolutely none people in the US in general barely know about keiji haino
Christian Barnes
what do ya'll usually dress up as for halloween? I've just been alternating between Hunter S Thompson and a Devo member for the past few years. I need a new schtick this halloween

People don't normally do Halloween parties. Maybe once in a while but it's not a tradition here. Last time i think i went as a serial killer or something

Christopher Russell
(please don't do this. every time you have the urge to do this, just go google some porn, jack off and then come back to the thread)
Matthew Jackson
Usually some kind of comic book character. Whether it's big 2 or someone like Spider Herusalem (the comic book character version of Hunter S), depending on where I go I get my fair share of love.
I might cop the Devo idea though it's pretty cool. That is if I am ever gonna be at a traditional Halloween party again I feel like I am too old.
Just pick a random album and listen to the first track. What does your chart look like maybe we can help you out.
Oh my god you're grill? Are you qt?
Luke Carter
Shamepai I'm whatever you want me to be.
except a girl

I never found any appeal in dressing up since I was a kid. Must have been the Schmurf's costume my mother obliged me to wear once.
Listening to "The Blanton-Webster Band" comp by Duke Ellington, some of the tracks are really out of this world and while being a triple album it swings, grooves and flows like silk. Considering a 9 or a strong 8,5
Noah Thomas
never to old to dress up my dewd, it's fun as shit
John James
Hmmm What if i want you to be a girl
Jayden Morgan
Oh, then that's all right then, I do still have the costume
Christian Ortiz
Yo, I was procrastinating so wrote down some recs based on >Krautrock Look into Cluster, Harmonia, Claus Schulze, Kraftwerk
>Jazz Coltrane free jazz works (Sun Ship, Interstellar Space, Impressions, Meditations, Kulu Sé Mama) Kaoru Abe, Masayaki Takayanugi Hard bop, post bop in general
>Others Current 93 - How I Devoured Apocalypse Balloon Peste Noire - Ballade Cuntre lo Anemi Francor P16.D4 - Kühe in ½ Trauer Xiu Xiu - A Promise Daniel Bachman - The River Incapacitants - As Loud As Possible
Wow, you really enjoyed that! I love the opener. Have you heard cocorosie?

Carter Parker
no i haven't, but ill check them out! the record was very fun honestly, my fav is eat shiitake mushrooms (the rap part is so unexpected), but every song is enjoyable. Just when i think a track is going to be boring, it either has a twist or it sets into a great poppy groove. Excited to hear what they'll do next.
Daniel Morris
shut up "rudi"

So...what's /daily/ listening to? I am listening to pic at the moment. My thoughts on it will be up soon. It's quite the album. Will try to do two Fahey records today since I have been kinda slacking on these and today's the one day where I have time to do so.
Hunter Cruz
Music for this feel? Don't even know what to do with myself, been busy with this trash for 8 months.
Kayden Lopez
Some Sander Van Doorn's tracks
Maybe Rob Van Dam's theme
Or maybe some soundtracks for Jean Claude Van Damme's movies.
For real though, something comfy yet rewarding like Fahey's tracks Mark 1:15 and Fare Forward Voyagers or honestly, dumb meathead metal like Sepultura or Pantera because that always feels mad rewarding after stressful work physical or mental.
I'm on holiday but just stopping by to say that Forever Changes by Love is awful

Sebastian Rodriguez
hey that's awesome, congratulations my man
i listened to scott 1 biking home from band practice, and now i just listened to sings jacques brel. scott walker is wonderful.
I like it quite a lot, though it's been some time since i've listened to it. What don't you like about it?
Justin Sanchez
It's overly derivative of The Beach Boys and Bob Dylan, is a "hear one, you've heard them all" album and some of the vocals sound like Kermit. Offensively boring
Angel Harris
Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers - Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers [Moanin'] (1959) >hard bop
I've come to the realization that hard bop rarely is anything more than enjoyable to me, but fuck, this is really enjoyable. It's straight up pop at times, and while it's super enjoyable and danceable it's really not anything extraordinary, instrumentally and compositionally. That is, of course, for Blakey's drumming. His very aggressive style, as loud and heavy as it is perfect and complex, fits the energy of the music perfectly, and "The Drum Thunder (Miniature) Suite" is great, mainly because it sounds like its title. I really do wish Blakey took the spotlight more, and this is maybe just a /bit/ too pleasant and polite for my tastes, but it's still one hell of an enjoyable album.
3.0+
Riz Ortolani - Cannibal Holocaust (1995) >film score, horror synth
There's a very massive juxtaposition between the pure and terrible horror of the movie and it's really fucking corny and super uplifting soundtrack. I have to give it points just for that. Sometimes it adopts a more typically horrific sound, like on "Adulteress' Punishment", but most of the time this goes between a really bombastic, admittedly super pretty orchestral sound and a cheesy, near-pornographic jazz-funk sound. Just for sheer variety and enjoyment this is awesome, and the orchestral and horror synth pieces are incredible, but the jazz-funk songs are really super cheesy and bring the whole thing down.

Did Chet Baker because I am falling in love with part of the guy's work. Same lineup as in Chet Baker sings, but with some extra musicians and pretty arrangements. Still not really convinced by his vocal performance here but his trumpet playing and the rest of the band make up for it.
Asher Gomez
just stumbled across this on fb

Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town (1978) >heartland rock, singer/songwriter
More consistent than Born to Run, and much rockier, but the highs aren't nearly as high, and a lot of this is fairly corny and melodramatic. Mainly the vocals. I normally really like Springsteen as a vocalist, but some of the accents he puts on and some of the vocal acrobatics he tries to do are just too much, they seem totally unnecessary and they detract from the songs themselves. Lyrically, some songs here come off as a parody of Springsteen, mainly "Racing in the Street", waxing poetic about fucking Chevys and Camaros. Musically, however, it's very good. The melodies aren't as potent as Born to Run's, and it isn't as tense and subtle as Nebraska, but it does the poppy heartland rock shtick very well, and some of the harder edge elements brought in are done very well, like the ripping solos on "Adam Raised a Cain". Still interested in Springsteen, even though this is very flawed. Good, but flawed.

Ok real talk Should i fall for the vinyl meme? I like collecting stuff but where i live there is just not enough stuff so i would have to buy everything online
Samuel Hall
>i would have to buy everything online then I'd not suggest it, shipping rates are annoyingly high for records
Carson Hernandez
What is the best Les Rallizes Denudes song and why is it White Waking?
Jayden Cruz
I'm getting into vinyl and what I'm getting is stuff that I want physically where it makes more sense to own it on vinyl than on CD. E.g. my first purchase was Rival Dealer (I WILL AAAALWAYS PROTECT YOU ;-;) because the vinyl costs less than the CD here and the vinyl culture of UK underground BS
Should I get this on vinyl even if it will be 40 bux with shipping I really like the album and I'd prefer it to CD
It's up to you, but like you I live in a pretty shit area for records so I don't buy very many records, the cost of a good set up might not be worth it for how much you'll use it. Still, having a nice soundsystem is good whether you use it for vinyl or not and records are nicer than CDs physically.
Luke Parker
I would only have either my favorites or some cool ones
