I think Wayne is one of those rare artists who's overhated and overrated at the same time.
On one hand you've got the 'Hur Dur nigga rhymes with nigga, lil gayne, if 2pac was alive he would be working at mcdonalds' crowd.
But then you've got people putting him in their top 10 of all time. Like wtf he had a hell of a run in the mid 2000s, but at the end of the day it was just some catchy punchlines. He's also dropped some of the worst rap projects ive ever heard. (Rebirth, IANAHB 2, No Ceilings 2)

Its alright but doesn't hold a candle to Dedication 1 or even 2 for that matter. I don't blame him for selling out but the fact that he hasn't given the old heads any quietly released mixtape of actual bars in the past 10 plus years makes me think he's not even capable of it anymore. But yeah, lots of people say that after Carter 3 it was over but he even had some strong mixtapes after that for a short period of time. It was truly over from Rebirth on tho, theres no saving the man's career (not that it needs saving from a financial standpoint)
