I think it had to do with there being a couple songs on California that I thought were kinda catchy, and I have to admit the last track was funny even tho the other one about the pool made me cringe. Meanwhile Is The Is Are just droned on and on and on with over an hour of the same awful poseurgaze they shat out on Oshin. By the second track I was already fucking sick of it and by the end I wanted to kill myself. At least California had the decency to be 40 minutes. I will say I liked the track with Sky tho. Her vocals fit better on a DIIV track than talentless Zack ever did

I was really disappointed with Pussy's Dead. I felt like the only memorable song was the first one and the rest sounded the same, which was a shame because I loved Transit Transit and Future Perfect.

I definitely understand your criticism of samey-ness. That was my biggest issue as well. I liked it for its personality and deadpan nature, but even I wasn't crazy about it. Autolux definitely could've done better

I respect that view. ASaP had some of the worst tracks to come out this year like fucking Hungry Ham, but there were some joints on it I really enjoyed. I think I also just have a soft spot for Ferg. I bet if I forced myself to give the whole thing another listen the score would go down.

I don't give a fuck how profound your satirical statement about the British music industry is(not that it was even very esoteric to begin with) but not even Blunt's good production can save the fact that the MC's on literally every track were wack as fuck. I didn't take shit away from that project. The song where the dude just gives a long list of "advice" is literally just spoken word saying, bullet point style, all the tenets of survival through struggle that actually good AMERICAN MC's have chronicled since the early 80's onward. Copycatting American hip hop ideals on a project that attacks the british music industry as stagnant, is there anything more ironic?

Big props for Joyous Celebration. Don't see enough love for it here. Such a fantastic slide show of the band's progression, so tailored yet so simplistic and heartfelt.

A big reason that held it back from being even more loved was it's length. I still really like the album but I felt it could have been trimmed a bit and still help up nicely.

Probably true, but I enjoy it despite it's density. teen suicide have a Guided by Voices vibe going on for me. A lot of ideas and a lot of songs, most which aren't fully fleshed out and a lot which seem unnecessary, interspersed with great pop songs and melodies. Taking it in as a whole is something I enjoy because you find some new part of some song you really like every listen for a long time.

What did you not like about it? I loved a lot of the deeper cuts. THat Part was my least favorite song on the album. The new Groovy Tony is amazing. Jadakiss's verse is stellar. The album on a lot of tracks has a very nightmarish halloween feel that fits the aesthetic the cover promotes and brings out Schoolboy's horrorcore style
