>play squier tele because poor >play epiphone thunderbird IV pro because poor
Joshua Baker
Classical guitar is always a great place to start. You'd get an idea of the history of the instrument and at least gain an appreciation if you didn't stick with it.
Angel Sullivan
I do vocal exercises every day
Chase Richardson
I'm definitely not hearing the "alright" in there. Did the band forget to put it in that song?
Jayden Nelson
Yo metal guitarist here. How can I make those crazy fast licks found in blazing metal solos? Is there any theory to how they are formed?
Jonathan Morris
m8 I don't understand how someone admittedly poor can be such a crappy consumer
Josiah Ortiz
Modes really fast
Jace Allen
They're just scales or arpeggios the majority of the time. As long as you play in the correct key you can usually play something similar or exactly the same as what the metal guitarist you like is playing.
Colton Jackson
It's a lot of the interesting qualities of djent without things like the overly tuned vocals and what not. If you don't like heavier genres you'll hate it anyway.
ive been messing around with a couple fingerstyle songs off game soundtracks, any advice where to start for technique and improvisation?
Austin Green
I think after the burial is my favorite djent band. Their album wolves within is pretty good.
Owen Gonzalez
You know when you can ignore someone if their favorite djent band is a band called 'Tyrant of Death'
Sebastian Moore
So improv doesn't happen much more in the classical realm beyond small interpretation changes. Prior to the contemporary era, it was common for a musician to be a composer, virtuoso, and performing artist all at the same time. So Improvisation was very common. Jazz has kind of taken up that mantle, but I play a bit that too.
I've arranged a couple video game songs for solo guitar before, a couple songs from Zelda, a Pokemon arrangement etc. When arranging them I did one of two things, I either had the advantage of a piano score to use as a groundwork, or I would listen to each section piece by piece and put it all together. When you're making your arrangement, it's important to remember that the key the piece is originally in may not be the best for playing on the guitar, so it's good to experiment. Any specific questions you have?
Julian Collins
You can probably ignore someone if they even know what djent is in the first place.
I just don't see the appeal. It's very percussive driven and there's little in the way of harmonic value. There's some neat time signature's here and there but the guitar is tuned down well into the bass guitar's range and is nearly unheard being drowned by the drums. At least the drummer is always getting a workout.
Hunter Cox
I'm sorry, but I'm past the age of 16 xd
Carter Cruz
>guitar and bass thread >all I see is djent

Why are jumbo frets all the rage?
Gabriel Ward
Why wouldn't they be?
Jayden Cooper
It is easier to play with them. The only downside to them is that if you press too hard you can go sharp, but that can be used to ones advantage.
Zachary Jenkins
They're big
Chase Wright
Making them easier to play.

>I just don't see the appeal. It's very percussive driven and there's little in the way of harmonic value. It's a one man band and the guy is primarily a drummer. Main reason everything is ultra-percussive. Also the guitars aren't nearly as low as they sound. Most of what you think is an eight string is the bass guitar.
I don't listen to a ton of metal but I enjoy his material. It's not for everyone though of course.
Eli Phillips
Did you write this?
Brody Jenkins
No mate(I wish), it's a contemporary piece by a (deceased)composer named Armando Neves. It's his Choro No.2. Unfortunately all of his music is out of print so it's difficult to find sheets for it.
Are Framus cabinets good? Looking for a 1x12 and the Celestion G12T-100 that comes with it has more bass than Vintage 30s, and I want more bass.
Tyler Martin
Sweet! I'll be messing around with this tomorrow. Thanks man.
Samuel Morris
Go for it. Lots of music in that drive. Cantiga is the only other Neves piece there that I learned. The part A section isn't that interesting, but the part B is one of the most beautiful parts in any song. A shame it had to be anchored to a subject so corney.
Levi Torres
Awesome. I'll take a look at that too.
Brody Sullivan
whats your favourite tuning, gg?
Ryan Parker
Standard E.
Owen Sullivan
Gotta be standard. Followed by DADGBE which has a huge amount of utility in classical music. Maybe it's just my arrangements, but it feels like that tuning ends up being the easiest way to make the bass line playable when moving higher up the neck.
Grayson Cooper
Anybody here own or have the Earthquaker Devices Afterneath? Thinking of picking one up. I've heard that it's not great for a general reverb so I plan to keep my Hall of Fame for when I want something more "controllable", but that it's great for adding textures and shit. For the record, I play math rock and post-metal.
Levi Sanders
I got nothing against drop D when what you're playing calls for it. I still prefer standard tunings.
Some of my favourite Porcupine Tree songs are in drop D such as Blackest Eyes.
Jose Cook
I'd pick one up if I had the dosh. I'm a slut for eqd.
Joshua Wood
Not necessarily my favourite, but it's an interesting one. C# minor tuning. C#G#C#G#C#E
I played a piece called Koyunbaba for a college jury once. It's one of the cooler sounding pieces. Made by an Italian Composer named Carlo Domeniconi. youtube.com/watch?v=5zametsMzvU If you listen to nothing else, listen to the fourth movement. The triplet technique is done using only two fingers. The sheet music itself has two systems, one that shows the actual notes being played and the other called "scordature" which shows the notes you would normally play in drop D tuning so I didn't have to relearn the fretboard.
Kevin Nguyen
DADDAD, with the middle two strings tuned to the same pitch for some interesting chord fingerings and fun harp-like warbling, as well as bonus scale symmetry
Gavin Hill
*4th movement starts about 9:20
Evan Cox
D# standard. Close enough to E to sound somewhat normal, yet off key enough to make music sound distinguished.
Eli Scott
The price is actually why I'm slightly hesitant, even though I know I could sell it and make most of my money back. I figured I'd wait until ebay sent me a high percentage ebay bucks offer so I could get like $20 back.
Charles Howard
If this is you, did the jury frown upon you tuning during the piece?
William Scott
I'm not that good looking haha. I brought two guitars with me, but I did have to slightly retune after the second movement. The strings had settled pretty well so I didn't have to tune as much as Brandon Acker did.
Jordan Johnson
hello /gg/ how are you

So are highway one strats bad, if you upgrade the electronics? Because I've read some pretty negative reviews but I think it was comparing it with US standard ones. Dimarzio vintage heavy blues or texas special pickups for dadrock-ish stuff?
Owen Clark
Ah well, very nice piece! I've decided to take a crack at learning some of it in the morning
Austin Powell
It's worth it to grab a copy of the music too. There are parts of it where notes are fretted and other parts where open strings are utilized. It's a very moden guitar piece in the sense that there are distinct right hand picking patterns that are used and sometimes our ears can betray us due to the nature of the unusual tuning and the droning open strings. The piece is inspired by Turkish folk music.
Nolan Cox
@67080716 Disgusting
Chase Bell
What pickguard? That's clearly a sticker.
Wyatt Williams

Does anyone know which guitar is Santana playing in this video?
but from that pic it looks like one of those custom made nylon electric guitars. i remember watching a video of roger water's guitarist talking about one, some guy in california makes them
More specifically, it's a Nittono Model-T Jazz Nylon.

Yes framus cabs are good, I used to use that exact cab in your pic and it was very clear and had a thick punchy bass. Lots of low mids.
E standard, followed by open D and DBC#Gbe
Wow that is beautiful

Working on building a pedal board up again but I might wait and get a new amp/guitar first. Any recommendations for good combo amps? I'd prefer a 2x12 but 1x12 works too. I've been looking at twin reverbs, but I'd like to have some other options in mind.
Jaxson Taylor
Because jumbos are very easy to play on and small vintage frets are difficult for beginners while only providing a few expert-level advantages (faster slides, legato, more bend movement on trills, etc).
I hate jumbos personally, they're pleb's choice objectively.
Oliver Perry
Do it
Caleb Gonzalez
because small/vintage frets are awful
once you get used to jumbo frets everything else feels like shit. they make everything easier to play as long as you don't have a crazy tight gorilla grip
