"The genre was coined by John Fahey in the late '50s, and he characterized it musically by its fusion of early twentieth century American music-- namely blues and its offshoots-- with western avant-garde styles like musique concrète and minimalism, as well as various eastern musics. Perhaps it's just because Fahey himself was a guitarist, but the genre traditionally centers around the steel-string acoustic guitar."

a lot of first wave postrock bands were very inspired by the genre, including Gastr del Sol

I enjoyed the Sporting Life recommendation, I saw Dean Blunt on your chart and I'm a big fan of him and Hype Williams, have you found anything similar?
check out the beat detectives albums on my chart, they are somewhat reminiscent of hype williams but more club oriented
the whole beat tape that sporting life track is on is great too
Cheers lad
>young scout niblett was beyond qt
ain't that the truth
I'll make sure to check out Rosenholm as well, thanks.
early France Gall is some tip-top yé-yé. Too bad she parted ways with Gainsbourg, really.
Linda Perhacs is pretty great iirc. I should really revisit Parallelograms, so thanks.
