arab strap - philophobia

Weighing Souls with Sand is one of the most suffocating albums ever, which manages to bring me to tears.

What do you guys feel when you listen to sad music?
The obvious answer would be "sad", but more often than not I actually feel relieved, comforted and "at home".

...

Usually my goal when listening to sad music is to find a sense of understanding or relatability. When an album/song has a theme of depression, heartbreak, or whatever, I feel like someone else in the world went through whatever I am going through, and they don't want to make me feel better, just to make me know that I'm not the only one.

pretty much hit the nail on the head.

just think about it...

Down colorful hill by rhp

recently been enjoying brand new
youtube.com/watch?v=2V6mUFUwBGc

songs from the suicide bridge
the devil and god are raging inside me
this lost wisdom
the suburbs (It's pretty melancholic imo)

I can't "enjoy" brand new honestly
it makes me wanna kill myself

Some of the saddest songs I know on here.

I cry every time Powders.

damn...

this

Positive Negative is the best one.

All absolutely soul-crushing

That and Broke honestly most of that album is just the saddest shit.

most melancholy album i can think of. the feeling behind this album is unreal.

1990 is sadder

DCH is the best album I never want to hear again.

>when the chorus pedal kicks in on 24
>the 9-minute long NEET anthem that is Medicine Bottle
>the soul-crushing militaristic drum beat on the title track
>the song all about wanting an asian gf
>KILL MY GIRLFRIEND AND MY BEST FRIEND SAM, I CAUGHT THEM MAKING EYES AGAIN
>PLEASE LET ME WATCH THE BURNING OF MY HOMETOWN
Took me 3 listens for it to click but once it did I completely lost it.

watermelon in easter hay is the saddest song ever written

Here's a thing Sup Forums made a while back but I wasn't able to get the last two

Truth

Depends on what kind of sad you're going for. Empty? Depressing? Tear-jerking? Personal loss, or existential soul-crushing feels?

I'm honestly surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. Respect ya Sup Forumscore.

Also, you doin okay, OP?

Can +1 these

Also
>Giles Corey
>Carissa's Wierd

i feel like a lot a Sup Forums has feels to this album in all the wrong ways, everyone seems to focus more on the death and dying and less on the emotional abuse inflicted on the protagonist which i feel is more the focus and is what make this a fuck me up album personally

like theres nothing wrong with different interpretations and associations but i just feel like a lot of subtext is missed or at least considered insignificant

Yeah for me the feels come from the emotional abuse and the double-sided romance

...

saddest album I've listened to by a mile, even the instruments sound sappy

I just listened to this for the first time yesterday. Not only is it soul-crushing on its own but it mirrors my present life so well that it's scary

>I drank so much tea
>And wrote my letters in kanji
>Around the block I walked and walked
>Pretending you were with me

I hate how well I can relate to this album. dammit Kozelek

this one always gets me
