/prod/ Bang The Drum Edition

To completely fit in with the theme of the thread, I'm going to post something with no drums in it.

And before you start moaning about the wiki links etc, 90% of them are dead anyway.

Link the goddamn previous threads you fucking morons.

Previous thread:

Actually you know what? Sage this shit, not even wiki links or chunga lunga pic, and OP posted a fucking youtube link instead of clyp.

JDIMSA YOURSELF

>starting the thread with a link to your own song on youtube

fucking hell, how autistic can you be

Got this for $150 yesterday. How did I do?

I haven't played a synthesizer in years and I'm still working it out, but it sounds pretty cool so far.

ITT where were you when clypfags got BTFO and self advertising shills took over

Like the arpeggios and the soft pad thing.
Looks like you got a nice synth.

Hey /prod/
I got a copyright claim on a tune of mine the other day. Wrote and uploaded it the same day, and before I had even hit publish I got a copyright claim from some shyster company called Adrev wanting to "share monetisation" with me.

I disputed this of course, but guess where my dispute gets sent to? The fucking Adrev cunts with their copyright bot. This is just all kinds of fucked. Now I have to wait 30 days for a decision on whether I wrote my own cunting music.
Youtube are such a bunch of cunts sometimes.

What? How do you get a copyright claim before you upload a song?

Before I hit publish, I went to the monetisation tab to enable adverts. It told me I couldn't because I had a claim on it.
So these Adrev faggots have API access to youtube uploads before they are even published.

Also, the song they claimed I had infringed on DOES NOT EXIST. I googled it and it just straight up does not exist.

If they dare to rule against me I'm going to make it my life's work to fuck these guys. I'm beyond mad.

you can get 30 pounds of credit for samples here when you use the code 3372FC56D4

beta.samplephonics.com

I get the credit too so thats why im posting i dont care about you lol

>paying for samples
What are you, a fucking retard?

get sued nigger

Whoa shit. That's fucked

They do waveform analysis and if they get a match they try and jew you

Fuck your shitty sample site DAVE, no one will use it.
>They do waveform analysis and if they get a match they try and jew you
They match they claim is for a song that doesn't exist. This is just straight up kikery. I KNOW there is no match for this music because I fucking wrote it.

How's my percussion /prod/?

So when you move out of the basement and have your dream job in the music industry you'll have no problem working for free because you'd have to be retarded to buy/support something you can just torrent for free...right?

Do you just get 30 pound vouchers when people sign up, or does it get added to a running total.

Like, say 2 people signed up with your referral: do you get 2 30 pound vouchers or do you get 60 pounds in credit?

Lame and repetive.

>How's my percussion /prod/?
Sounds to me like you need to resample your kick, there's a nasty click on the tail end of the sample.
I suggest leaving a bit of silence on the end of it instead of it being a short cut to try and stop this. The end of the sample has the waveform not at level, either up or down, and when it loops round to play the next one the point where the sample lines don't match is giving you that click.

Ignore the FL kiddies

I sample shit myself, I don't use gay samples other people made.

2 coupons which do not stack, which is fucking lame, but there is still ton of shit under 30 so fuck it

>muh field recordings

By the way if anyone here doesn't like the sample site referal link pyramid scheme scam that keeps getting posted here and samefagged to make it seem like anyone cares, feel free to email the owner of the site.
[email protected]
And tell him what you think if his marketing.
I hear he likes free signups to gay porn as well.

Don't be a faggot.

That's not what's going on here.

Sure Dave.

>w r legiun

Thanks. I'm still working out how the use it. I haven't owned a synth for a couple years and even then the last one I owned was a workstation.

The pad sound is pretty good for a monophonic synth that's famous for sounding pissed off.

I'm the same. Don't really see the point of buying samples unless it's something a bit special like that sampled 808 that has something stupid like 4000 samples and is intergrates into a instrument. If I did want a sample pack though I'd pay for it. Some poor fucker has taken the time, effort and often spent money to make those samples so they deserve to be paid.
I'm not a pro and I've never got paid for anything music related, but I enjoy music production and if nobody supports anyone in the music industry then there is no money to support artists and software developers which in turn means the industry that we hope to one day earn a living from is fucked.

It's monophonic? Did a nice job of pseudo poly with that pad.

Brutes a cool. It really only makes sense to own analog synths as hardware, anything else can be replaced by VSTs.

I'm thinking of buying a System 1m purely for the fact that it has knobs and sliders and has a SH-101 plug out. I've tried using software versions of the 101 and other soft synths and having no phisical knobs or sliders is a real workflow killer for me.

>I've tried using software versions of the 101 and other soft synths and having no phisical knobs or sliders is a real workflow killer for me.
You can get MIDI controllers for those soft synths. Way cheaper than actual fully blown hardware.
I use an Oxygen 25 and an LDP-8. Neither have any onboard sounds. Both kick ass with Reason though.

I guess the other option is the intellijel Atlantis, but by the time I buy a rack, power supply, midi module I'd be looking at over £1000, plus the system 1 has a lot of other oscillator types and wave tables including fm...seems like a decent deal for a good all round first synth

I have a Maschine studio that integrates excellently with the N.I stuff like Monark, massive and FM8 but it still doesn't quite feel the same as a dedicated synth

I got a specific driver for the Oxygen 25 for Reason - whenever I load up a new synth it automatically assigns all the 8 dials on it to useful ones on the synth. It's absolutely hassle free (once set up).
It feels like a real synth to me.

Gotta get a Komplete Kontrol, son

What advantages would that bring me? Looks like other than the keyboard it has the same 8 control pots as the Maschine studio has?

Maschine does this too. All the knobs are already assigned to all the knobs on N.I stuff and the same with 3rd party plug ins

I keep seeing people plugging Maschine in /prod/ From what I hear you can use it as a standalone as well?
I've been wanting to have a go on one.

Fucking hell, I want to achieve something like his sound somehow. Does anyone know what plugins he uses? Listen to that bass at 2:00 and the whole chill part at 0:45, those drums and synth.

youtube.com/watch?v=sCpC5qh-JoA

equipboard.com/pros/pogo
There you go

Yeah, just remembered some user mentioned it a few days ago.

Found this:

equipboard.com/pros/pogo/image-line-fruity-reeverb

Even a whole video of him using FL studio. Fucking perfect.

>I want to achieve something like his sound somehow
>Does anyone know what plugins he uses?

This kind of attitude will never get you anywhere.

They're basic sounds, just listen to them and figure out how to get them using what you already have.

Constantly getting new plugins will not develop your ears.

Thanks. Yeah it's monophonic, it really excels at saws from what I've found so far.
youtube.com/watch?v=sUNNwibffTw

>Did a nice job of pseudo poly with that pad.
I was using diffusion mainly to make it sound a lot more ethereal.

For me it's purely a workflow thing. Have never been able to get into soft synths. I do have a Nektar LX49 around though since I occasionally use Alchemy.

I plan to get an Intellijel Metropolis to pair up with the Minibrute at some point for bass lines.

This I know it doesn't sound that helpful but over time you'll learn how to craft sounds pretty easily. That clip I posted earlier of the main lead from Da Funk was worked out by ear in maybe 30 seconds. It's not as angry as the original but it could certainly be worked out if I put a bit more time into it.

How bad quality is clypit? should I just upload to soundcloud if I want music to sound non-awful?

How bad quality is clypit?
It isn't. It's nothing like Vocaroo in that regard.

Nothing wrong with clyp.it, but it's only for works in progress to share here.
Post a soundcloud and you'll be ignore in /prod/

can someone please explain to me in a clear, concise way how FL is inferior to Ableton (or even if it is)? I have tried both and personally find the former to be much easier to work with, but I'm gonna have to make a choice if I wanna buy.

Is "FL is for kiddies doing doobstep" a meme or what?

uploaded something to clypit and it mashed the fuck out of the entire mix though

Pic related.
It's never done that to me - you fucked up your export somehow.

In 2010 there were big differences between DAWs and functionalities

In 2016, both FL12 and Ableton9 are excellent DAWs in which you can do almost anything. I personally prefer Ableton because I have autism and FL triggers my autism but anyone who says "You can do X in this DAW but can't in Y DAW" is basically retarded

It does it for me too. Exported wav sounds good on my PC, but when I upload it to clypit it always gets fucked, sometimes less, sometimes more.

You did something wrong when rendering then.

it was probably me, I always preach about that site on here.

Idk what quality Clyp converts to but Soundcloud converts to 320kbs mp3 so that's pretty bad.

Not this again, FL is not inferior to Ableton.

they convert it to shit quality mp3, they do the same with Soundcloud, I just don't know which has the worst codec.

Like what? Sounds fine on my computer, and on my phone too.

>Idk what quality Clyp converts to but Soundcloud converts to 320kbs mp3 so that's pretty bad.
Soundcloud only does higher bitrate for downloading. It's 128kbps for streaming. Clyp.it is 320kbps for mp3 and streams full-bitrate for wav and flac.

You can use it as standalone or as a vst running inside your preferred DAW.
Standalone doesn't mean you can use it on its own though as it needs to be tethered to your computer as it is basically just a really well intergrated midi controller.
I'd highly recommend trying one out. I bought mine after trying it out in my local music shop. I went there to buy something else and just stumbled across it as it was setup as a demo unit. I must have spent a good couple of hours glued to it and was really impressed with how easy it was to use. I had never even seen one before.
Also you get a komplete select with it which includes some really nice bits of software including Monark which is fantastic sounding. I was so impressed with the komplete select package I upgraded to komplete ultimate a few months later when it was reduced in a sale.
Like I say well worth a look, but try not to be put off by the generic N.I promotion videos.

>always get intimidated by how great some producer composed a part of a song
>later realize it's just a sample

Wew lad.

Layering in samples is the best way to make things sound good even if you're shit desu

I've just been watching a video on the metropolis looks like it'd make a great pair with Atlantis. It sounds amazing...I can already see how euro rack can get to be addictive.

youtu.be/uV9-XA5MPwY

>I've just been watching a video on the metropolis looks like it'd make a great pair with Atlantis
From memory the Atlantis is heavily inspired by the SH-101 and the Metropolis is heavily inspired by the TB-303.

I want one to control that MiniBrute and an MS-20 later on. Need a converter for the MS-20 to work with it though unfortunately.

Only real problem with the Metropolis is it's only 8-step, but it's got a really cool flow to it. That new Arturia synth has a 64-step sequencer in it... Crazy stuff.

>I can already see how euro rack can get to be addictive.
Yeah if you jump on modulargrid and start throwing modules together it's pretty easy to end up with a $10,000 rack.

>millennial "music"

didnt think anybody could make autism into a genre

millennials can

posting again

clyp.it/shco2omh

Not too happy with some of it, definitely needs more interest at parts, and some of the transitions are flat, but this was my first attempt.

*votes bernie*

*sips starbucks*

*is ameriburger in 2016*

i aint american m8ey

top kek at their demorat candidate tho lelelel

kek'd. At least they are entertaining.

I'm kinda thinking more along the lines of flexible synth with lots of patch points, but I know as soon as I buy a rack the madness will set in...that's why I've been putting Eurorack off for so long. I'm quite content with Reaktor blocks for the moment

Holy fuck! This is quite possibly the gayest thing I've seen posted on /prod/ he's even miming the words

sup /prod/

i've been getting into vocal manipulation these days and was trying to figure out what the fuck you might call the shit thats going on in the background of this video youtube.com/watch?v=uoFXj2FOioM

i've heard it used in actual songs before but was wondering if you guys knew anything about it

sounds like distorted and reverbed voices. not sure if there's a name for it

>/prod/ucers shitting on based sample god pogo (at least compared to them)
Are you for real right now? The video is autistic as fuck, but that doesn't affect the music. I mean, I know you have shit taste but come on now.

pls helpu. I need to release this before I get bored of it

clyp.it/0vevbev5

the last set of tracks i made were pretty dancy, lightly so (think fourtet) with easy use of acapellas from pop songs and stuff.

recently i want to make more noisy stuff but still keep a pretty upbeat tempo and some structure but i cant help but feel the tunes miss something without vocals/acapella.

any tips for how to fill in that empty space? (example this work in progress, i know mixing is bad)

clyp.it/zxzu3lyz

time travel back 3 years when the synth pad/lex luger drum combo was cool

sorry im not being mean just you know

damn why would ever want to sound like this

the pads are hella annoying, u gotta pull em out more

annoying as in too loud in the mix?

>pogo sample based god.
Mate I don't think so somehow and yeah I'm totally for real. The music is terrible too. Obviously taste is subjective but hey

post a clyp

That song is just some shitty sounding beat, a toy town melody and a load of Micky mouse vocals chopped and processed over the top of that.
This guy is as much of a sample God as fatboy slim.

lol equipboard is still shit

post a clyp

Ok, my shitposts aside, it just sounds ok to me, but I like the sound of backing instruments and a jazzy feel.

It's still (unfortunately) by miles better, more complex and creative sampling than what anyone achieved ITT. It's funny because the same, "sampled background noise with some shitty beat on top", can be said for clyps in /prod/ too so it's surprising that post achieved this much hate replies.

youtu.be/pAwR6w2TgxY

no one in this thread is going for the genre of uninspired trash though

Why are you such an asshole, though?

The Atlantis sounds great but you're right about all the extra stuff. I wanted to get one, but you can get a 101/SH2 for that price.

idk if you have me confused with guy you replied to since that was my first time chiming in but probably because ive heard to much of that shit for 5 years straight

this hostility fuckthisshitimout

Yeah, I don't know wtf happened to people today, /prod/ is not usually shitty like this.

it's good to keep up with what producers are using and look at sources but it's even more useful for newbies who wanna see what their idols are using.

>tfw impossible to produce anything besides simple loops without a midi keyboard

It's so impractical and exhausting

it's a good idea in concept but every listing i've ever pulled up is shit and basically just lists what controllers they've used in youtube videos.

case in point: guy wanted to know what plugins that guy was using, equipboard only lists rx3

i know a guy who actually prefers clicking in every note, i'll never understand it

Depends on a type of music I guess, when I composed some preludes and other classical pieces, it was easier to do it that way, there is no way I'd manage to play it in real time while composing.

what? look at the software/plugins section, it lists pretty much all of his software

I do that, like, I'll jam on the keyboard but after that I'll carefully program everything on the piano roll
