it's a chart with every single release from Actuel, a french free jazz label that took in all the american artists that weren't getting any attention and got them to record some music for them. among these are: Don Cherry, Sun Ra, Sonny Sharrock, Gong, etc.
the label died after 3 years but it's a great place to dig if you're into """jazz""". they also have a few non-jazz artists that did a few things, like Gong, Freedom, and Musica Elettronica Viva.
Owen Richardson
yknow fuck it i'll just change the whole thing
THIS IS STILL ALIVE I SWEAR

mozart - lovely requiem, i really dig choral works like these, might try verdi's requiem next camille - on the other hand even though i like french vocals, a capella is not something i'm crazy about, this record has some variety on it but nonetheless ends up feeling stale after a while throughout the whole record there's a quiet drone that can barely be heard whenever there's other sounds around, which is a lot of the time, except for the last track which is just 40 minutes of that drone could've done without it
i'm one record behind schedule on this Is their catalog actually that small?
Wyatt Hughes
oh shit finally someone replies to that yeah it's that small. pretty sad desu but makes the label easily droneable
Aiden Brown
I still gotta listen to that Sharrock record. Other than that, I've heard mu, seasons which I liked, and echo which was terrible. Not much else gets my attention from there, maybe the Grachan and Shepp records.
Ethan Cook
Modest Mouse - Interstate 8 An important bridge between This is a long drive and Lonesome Crowded West (or between early, trailer park meth Modest Mouse and "early" modest mouse, it's quite lovely, although I do think that it's not nearly as strong as either of the two albums that either surrounded it or came after it still good though There are some tasty rarities on the second half (live)
Stars of the Lid - Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid Quite good, takes quite a long while to get going, no doy, it's a drone album, needs some unpacking I feel, although inattentive listening was quite lovely probably won't revisit this one as often as I would like
what next ye coonts, Watching Hiroshima Mon Amour because I've decided to not go to uni tomorrow

The Way We Live - A Candle for Judith (1971) >psychedelic rock
Bland rock music, listenable and somewhat enjoyable but still a lame imitation of hundreds of other bands doing this style better. The guitar work is the highlight here, the riffs are catchy and the solos generally rip, but they still contribute to a very generic sound. The more progressive segments of this album are pretty okay too, especially when they bring in more varied instrumentation. Sadly, these little flourishes of greatness are still only part of a decidedly mediocre album.
2.0
Something Like Elvis - Cigarette Smoke Phantom (2002) >post-rock
Very varied album, and luckily, a lot of it works really well! There is a fair bit of filler, and I'm not sure I care for the more electronic tracks or the track where they almost experiment with french pop (?), but this is spacey noisy post-rock at its finest. Lovely guitar tone, it gets heavy at all the right moments, kindasorta like Spiderland at points, good stuff.
3.0+
Ethan Williams
added some more things
holy shit is that a receiver?
Carson Nguyen

Yep! Sony STR-DH130 (sony.ca/en/electronics/av-receivers-audio/str-dh130), it's handy for switching between the CD player (located below), the record player, FM radio, AM radio and a 3.5mm jack I currently have plugged into the cassette player. It's no amp, but it works fine for what I need.
Vivian to Vinter and Silvers to Shame maybe make The Cherry Blonde to The Daily Blond
i love the change in visual aesthetic. that cover is an instant favorite. not the singles, they both sounded unfinished, over soon was basically an intro, or a teaser jingle. and when they do get going a bit, another few tracks in, it wasn't that drastic of a transformation after all. unless they sound different on record
Aiden Gray
Currently listening to Body-Sans - Shining the Money Ball
It's a really chill and down-tempo tropical house album I found after someone wishlisted it on RYM. Am actually going to take a break to eat and finish it up tonight at work while it pours outside
So gad you liked it herby. Honestly this is the kind of stuff I imagine you're going to make once you start recording music
Evan Perez
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that really loves this album. Almost everybody I've recced it to have either hated it or just thought that it was meh. Anybody else in /daily/ love this album as much as I do?
Anthony Ramirez
Don't invest in the pizza business guys.
I'm pretty familiar with them as far as their major singles, Disintegration, and Pornography, all of which I enjoy greatly. Really hyped to hear what their discog has to offer.
Aaron Long
What happened at work today, lad
Cameron Adams
A few guys decided not to show up today and we couldn't reach anyone else, so entire store was ran by three people today. Was a hoot, especially since I had to take deliveries and it was busy as frick.
Made good money though, shit was just stressful.
Anthony Bailey
You go, Fish Such an alpha trout I hope the baddest beams helped a bit
Anthony Rogers
Finally got around to Grachan Moncur's Some Other Things. I'm just going to say that it was an awesome jazz record and makes me even more excited to explore the genre
I guess technically I have some hot onions coming through.
>clipping. - CLPPNG Errghh the production on this is sometimes layered noisy stuff that piques my interest, but the vocals are just bad, terrible, awful, grating... Not good. I mean, I think Daveed Diggs would make a great auctioneer, but rapping isn’t about how fast you can yell in a monotone. The lyrics are alternate between angry masturbatory poetry and pop banality. I think if clipping could decide whether or not they’re pop or experimental they’d make much better music. I’d like to hear an album by the producers of this without Daveed Diggs, because there’s occasionally some interesting industrial-ish stuff happening on here. That isn’t to say that are blameless in the failure of this album, they did a really poor job incorporating his vocals into the mix. It seems like they weren’t in the same room while making this, there’s no chemistry between Diggs’s vocals and the production. I appreciate the boldness of this album, but I can’t help but feel like it's a failed experiment. 1.0
>Noname - Telefone Not sure why, maybe it's the quiet smooth & funky synths, but this album really reminded me of Mac Demarco's stuff, especially his demo tapes. The thing that tends to drive me away from contemporary mainstream hip hop and R&B is that much of it tends to be beat and rhythm oriented and has a certain gross bravado and masculinity that feels impersonal and superficial. This album however, is jazzy, comfy, and personal. There are pleasant vocal harmonies, thoughtful yet casual lyrics, and and and damn I can't think of a third thing to say because I already said everything I was thinking. 3.5
Ethan Gomez
Wow, I said "and" five times in one sentence. Maybe someday I'll learn to write properly.
James Hill
>CLPPNG >1.0
Joseph Evans
The producers have done some work without Daveed Diggs. May check the label deathbomb arc as they carry some of the work. One interesting release is the Excess Flesh OST deathbombarc.bandcamp.com/album/excess-flesh-ost
It is a movie score, but is interesting. Still some of the transitions into "poppy" music at times. I am also looking forward to the dialer release they have coming which has another one of the 2 producers. No sample for that though.
Logan Garcia
I don't get it, could you go into more detail about what's wrong with how he raps?
Eli James
Ignore the gays, CLPPNG is bad
Parker Fisher
It's kind of hard to explain, because vocal delivery is such a subjective and personal thing, but I have three main problems with the vocals. One is that I just don't like the tenor of his voice, which I'll acknowledge is completely personal. Two, which I mentioned, is that his delivery feels like someone quickly reciting something. It feels emotionally, and is sometimes literally, monotone. It's as though the words he's saying don't correspond to any feelings expressed in his voice. Three is the lack of synergy between his vocals and the production, which just makes the first two problems more noticeable. I think he's fairly talented, but these qualities really bother me.
