My favorite female musician is Isobel Campbell. Ex-member of Belle and Sebastian, I heard her song Falling From Grace on some random college radio station one night years ago and loved her voice. I think the last album she did was a collaboration with Mark Lanegan called Hawk. I'm not quite sure what she's been working on recently though, Hawk came out 6 years ago now.
My favorite of her work is The Gentle Waves albums, specifically Swansong For You.
