Meh this isn't really that depressing, it's more grandiose and spooky. The Glow pt 2 is one of the most overwhelmingly depressing albums ever made
Do you want depressing like sad or depressing like soul-crushing, because this is the latter
I swore I thought the singer was female when I was listened to Hospice.
Songs From Suicide Bridge
F#a#
Lost Wisdom
By The Throat
Salyu - Breathe
Hi, How Are You?
some of this isn't depressing and just "melancholic"
That screaming part in The Haunting Presence makes me feel like I'm listening in on some super low and private moment that I shouldn't be listening to. Gives me chills every time.
Top 3 favorite album.
Nah m8
Any early Tim Hecker
I agree with that guy, Hospice is honestly mediocre try hard bullshit. The sad whispering vocals on top of the sad pianos gets grating really quickly and the reverby parts just try to make the song writing look more complex than it actually is. While i think the lyrics compliment the concept, it ends up being so relentlessly dreary that it just lacks emotion. Funny enough the most impactful pieces are "Bear" and "Two" when the beat count is raised and the album is finally given the energy it so desperately needed.
I also hate the mastering imo
it's annoying as hell
This makes me feel very guilty for some odd reason.
either
fuckin bloodhail man

Only for a particular, self-loathing type of sadness
These are all good
Ive used haunt me to fall asleep too so many times
fuck
Some A+ doom metal right here.
I don't know if I would call this depressing. Maybe Butterfly or Tragic Girl but I can't remember if they were B sides.
the best
i never see this mentioned on these threads, fucking criminal
Shit, this album gets to me every time
>I wanna feel like I feel when I'm asleep
Yeah shit, I have pretty bad insomnia, too this guy gets it!
>I WANNA FEEL
>I WANNA FEEL
>I WANNA FEEL
>I WANNA FEEL
Yeah...I don't even wanna talk about the shit this part brings up on Sup Forums.
This
Lord kill the pain and down colorful hill are truly depressing
We lost the sea - Departure Songs
that whole entire album is feels material
Instrumental feels:
Daft punk - Nightvision
Daft punk - motherboard
Lots of darkness and sadness in this one
anyone who hasn't heard this is missing out

>I didn’t believe them when they told me that there was no saving you.
...
...
also Angels of Light - How I Loved You, Everything Is Good Here/Please Come Home, and The Angels of Light Sing 'Other People' for more of michael gira making depressive/gothic folk
This
this shit fucking kills me. calling mom tomorrow.
this really brings me back
too cliche to submit this? pic related
>Don't worry, you an me won't be alone no more
You know this album used to be a happy one for me
although it doesn't really sound sad I always imagine to myself that A Piece of the Sky has some really sad backstory
this album makes me think of a giant pirate invasion on some viking era village. like while also showing a behind the scenes look at life in general and how terrified these villagers are, without being first person in the action. its like different parts of the songs are video submissions by the people talking about the pirates destruction and stuff
Soundtracks too
I mean, it was inspired by the death of M. Gira's dad
any music that focuses on the emotion itself instead of circumstances that cause depression? like less breakup songs and more realistic captures of hopelessness and despair
>Listen to Hospice a lot in 2011
>2016, 26 years old
>Meet cute girl, we like each other a lot, but culturally different and suck at managing to see each other
>Hook up in hotel room during rave
>Fall out of touch
>Month later she's pregnant
>Help each other get through it
>Get really close
>Rediscover Bear and try not to cry evrytiem
>Watch bojack horseman abortion episode together the night before
>She has the procedure
>Be supportive as I can through it and after
>Have crushing realization that she wasn't that emotionally hurt by it
>Realize you trying to comfort her was just the projection of your own sadness because you were subconsciously excited during the whole situation for making you finally feel a connection with someone
>Quickly fall back into obscurity
>Play Bear on piano alone in room everyday
elliott smith
damn...
Real Friends in general just makes depressing music. I don't love you anymore and old book are recommended
...
Boys don't cry
a piece of the sky is definitely melancholy at the very least. listening to it gives me a sort of nihilistic sort of depression. ennui might be a better word than depression
desu sonically the last ~5 minutes is actually pretty similar to those gothic folk albums
try this youtube.com
yeah I mostly meant the ending song, it feels like Gira reflecting on the past and someone he lost
have you listened to God Damn the Sun? it seems too specific to not be autobiographical. i really wonder what the backstory behind it is.
Specifically this song
Black Star - Radiohead
Maybe its because its my "deployment song" but I always get a strong case of the feels when I listen to this

i wouldn't call this as sad as it is introspective? still incredibly underrated band
Bullet Proof is better than both of those
this is better than both op
I'm so dumb, if only someone killed me
Yeah, Sufjan makes me a little less and simultaneously more dead inside everytime I listen to his music.
I hadn't heard this before, it the whole album this good?
Fucking this. Why did this band have to break up.
youtube.com
Do you like stuff like this peeps? Read lyrics.
sadly it's probably Swans' worst album. the next two Swans albums, White Light from the Mouth of Infinity and Love of Life, are done in the same style, as is Gira's side project Angels of Light. His solo albums The Milk of M. Gira and I Am Singing to You from My Room are pretty good too, it's just him and an acoustic guitar though

>dat chorus
That's the beauty of anonymity

xiu xiu is fantastic sad music regardless so its ok user
i feel like morrissey would have created xiu xiu if he had been into, like, snuff films and harsh noise instead of british soap operas and pop singers
