Do you think many of the albums we hail as the greatest would be recieved differently if they didn't have the instantly recognisable and unique covers?
If King Crimson's debut was just Fripp and his mates standing around with their instruments, would the music itself, though unchanged, seem less incredible? If Dark Side of the Moon didn't feature the infamous light spectrum and instead had Waters grinning like a goofball, would that mid-career album be largely ignored?
The album cover is usually the first thing I see when checking out an album and it seems to "set the tone" for the music, at least for me. Do you guys have a similar experience?
What if someone just swapped all albums covers? That would be very, very evil...huhuhuhu *hides evil smirk under the dark of the room, highlighting his evil yellow eyes*

I think it depends person to person. It's hard to say. Personally, no album covers impress me without listening to the music. They're all just a bit meh. But after listening to the music, you kinda get an understanding of the album cover in context with the music, and allows you to appreciate album cover.

shit man why would anybody do this

Just uploaded 2 KC albums to you tube. How fucked am i?

I heard KC's music before seeing the cover and thought it was incredible
Luke Gutierrez
I literally listen to music based off whether I like the cover or not. I also try to avoid looking at pictures of the band because 90% of the time they're really average/ugly looking dudes and it ruins the image I had in my head.
Daniel Sanchez
even better when you take out his thoughts

Holy fucking shit dude
David Lopez
kinda true
Drop Out with the Barracudas has two different covers, one being pop surf rock looking and the other being a darker, more post-punk looking cover
I have the version with the dark cover and it does affect the music in a way, it seems darker than it would have with the bright surfboard artwork
Zachary Lopez
I already have bias for or against an album judging the cover art. If the cover appeals to me, I fit the music into the scene on the cover and enjoy it more. If I don't like it I try to look past it but theres still that weird bias you have when you don't like the cover.
Noah Phillips
More like FRIPPED

Do what this guy did, you fucker: youtube.com/watch?v=gjoxpg4h-78 Can albums always get removed from youtube because of copyright, but if you upload it in 0.5x speed, youtube won't delete the video.

>The album cover is usually the first thing I see when checking out an album and it seems to "set the tone" for the music, Yes that's what artwork is made for, and that's why the hypothetical is hard to really consider.
If Pink Floyd wanted to use a pic of Waters grinning like a goofball, they would have done that for a different album.
