Got a question too specific or unimportant for its own thread? Post it here!
I'll start. Does anyone know any music with strings that sound similar to those at the end of Myrrhman? I fucking love them and have never found anything particularly close

I remember reading somewhere that composers for video games have a tendency to use arpeggios of maj7 chords in water based levels.
I have no idea where I might have read that and I have been looking for years
I can't help you with that but that's an interesting insight

There are definitely some parts from Morton Feldman's monumental second string quartet that have been an influence to the string sound on Laughing Stock. Here is an excerpt, because the whole piece is 6 hours long:

And I'll post some more of Feldman's music that you might like:

does anyone happen to know if this heat used alternate tunings on their guitars? or were they playing in standard?
This is actually one of my favorite moments in the album, which is amazing in every aspect
Have you listened to Mark Hollis' s/t yet? If not, that's good as well.
I have some things you might like based off of that part of Myrrhman:

Note that not all of these are extremely similar to Myrrhman, but I think you'll like them. Also, the bootleg recording of Just Charles & Cello in the Romantic Chord by La Monte Young is something you might really really like as well.
Does anyone have any info at all about this band? There's not that much out there, but they are so interesting it really intrigues you.
Fuck off
honestly i'm alwayds surprised by how little is out there, given that they're a pretty well known cult band in circles (don't know if i'm overestimating their popularity). there was a quietus piece from a few months back that shed some light on their history and processes but it's still so vague.
Spirit of Eden is better
Cheers guys, love this stuff so far. Will have to listen to it all. And yeah Hollis's s/t is probably my favourite album. Some of these string pieces are definitely reminiscent of the horn parts on that album too
Let me know if anything in particular stands out.
Rachel's comes to mind: youtube.com
It doesn't breathe as much but they're of a similar modality and if you like that you could do with earlier chamber music, particularly french from Faure, Ravel, Debussy, and Satie.

There's an 80s something prog-rock or something like that song that starts with that, and 40 seconds or so are just acoustic guitar. Anyone recognizes it?
I've heard some of Rachel's before and this really hits the spot
thanks

Weird question here but how do you all listen to an album for the first time?
Do you literally have no distractions or do you at least have something else going on?
The former. Try to listen to it without distractions. Either lying on my bed, or in the bath or something. Especially in the evening with a candle and a beer, bliss
