ITT: THAT'S HOW YOU END A FUCKING ALBUM

holy shit

...

also this

Rare case where this applies to both the standard and special editions.

Possibly my favourite closer of the 90s

...

Always loved the last song on this one.

...

...

Bowie had a lot of good album-enders. Blackstar, Heathen, Ziggy, Buddha, and especially fucking Heroes.

AAAAAARAAAAAAAAAAAAABIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
(secret secret)

So ominous

Bowie's composition on those albums and a few others you didn't mention have a sort of tense-feel to the songs leading up to the last song, which is usually a song that's either a reprise of an earlier song or a "release" type of song. In that sense, like you said with Heroes, the last track blasts out of nowhere after tracks of ambience, with hard hitting rock n roll.

...

Heroes is almost like this infinite loop where Arabia is really the first track of the album (or the beginning of a new album in a pattern that repeats infinitely)

This

This. The Secret Life of Arabia is so fucking good, one of Bowie's finest. I've seen one or two reviews dismiss it as dragging on a bit which baffles me in all honesty.

Bowie's openers are definitely better than his closers, though.

>Space Oddity
>The Width of a Circle
>Changes
>Five Years
>Watch That Man
>Future Legend/Diamond Dogs
>Young Americans
>Station to Station
>Speed of Life
>Beauty and the Beast
>Outside
>Blackstar

So many fantastic openers in one discography, in fact I think he may be the best at opening an album in rock history, above the Beatles even.

>Not including Toy for the extended, improved Slip Away

...

...

This guy Forgot to say Outside had a better outro than intro though.

Why the fuck do bands think this 15+ minutes of silence and/or random shit is okay

Every DG album except exmilitary.

Damn that song is so fucking good

>pay the man
>AW!!
>PAY THE MAN!!
>YAWW

...

...

Album is ok to good, but Space-Dye Vest is God-tier

good choices, everyone

...

nice thread

Wait, that one's from Americana

also probably the best album from 2016 that i haven't heard a single person on here say a word about.

Cassandra Gemini is the worst song in the album tho

>MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATT

underrated closer imo

Last two songs, fuck

Yup, can't get much better than Starless. The album is ridiculously good, but Starless is on an entirely different level

Second that senpai, amazing and powerful ending.

Except fracture

...

...

FEEEEEEEELLIIINNGG YOURSELF DISINTEGRATE

the whole song is great, but the final 30 seconds are fucking bone chilling

Oh right. Well its awesome

Blue is too obvious.
Honestly, most of their albums have great closers. Even Make Believe.

>that part with lennon's vocals drifting into the crescendo
uuughhhhnnnnnnn

'no'

>"You are now an official member of the New Power Generation. Welcome to the dawn."

The Angel And The One is such a god tier Weezer track, shame it's stuck on this album so no one remembers it or even bothers to listen to it.

BAAAAAAAABY

agreed, just overshadowed by the opener

...

overlooked post

I'd also put forward Diamond Dogs for an amazing ending. Just the anxiety, that crashing down the last two songs give perfectly wraps the album up if you're someone into concept albums and the subject he was shooting for on that one.

Arabia is probably better technically, though. Also, Wild is the Wind is beautiful.

Also, Subterraneans is one of my favorite songs, period, and that's an absolute 1000/10 closer, fucking perfect.

I just miss David Bowie.

bump

best Lennon McCartney song there is. imo
