gonna talk a bit about this one (3rd and 4th movement) in the stream about Basso Continuo for Comp in a bit.

I like Arturo Toscanini and Death Grips.

This is really good.

glad to hear. There lots of beautiful baroque trio sonatas from German composers around, including Telemann, Bach, Buxtehude and Händel.

check out this one, even with historical instruments

Underrated post.

Underrated composer too

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, despite being the most recognizable composer of all time, is also the most underrated composer of all time.

>Second most popular and heard composer in the world
>Underrated

>second most popular
>SECOND
FPTMIU

>only second

Mozart is underrated because the most extravagant praise is a gross understatement.

I think he and Beethoven are about equal. Beethoven's most famous music might be slightly more heard overall, but Mozart has a few more pieces that are widely heard.

Reminder that Bach is significantly more underrated than Mozart.

>implying
The "three Bs" include Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. Someone is criminally left out.

They're all from Germany, though, which is part of the point. Mozart was Austrian and his name begins with M.

FPTMIU

Yeah, he should have been called Bozart and have come from a country a bit to the northwest. Fucked up how the universe conspired against him.

Is it Boris Tchaikovsky?

Actually it's Berlioz.

>Someone is criminally left out.

betzold

Bruckner ofc

Boulez. Fucked up how they didn't include him.

>almost every new electronic and pop album is on vinyl now
>literally no new classical or jazz albums are except reissues

anyone else feel the pain?

>needing new releases
There's literally centuries of classical music m8.

And there's less than a century worth of decent recordings.

Is it bad that I don't have recording autism? Obviously some recordings are better than others, but I've never felt a desire to hear every single recording ever.

depends on the work, honestly. it's much easier for me to get satisfied with certain works than others.

>vinyl

Hello fellas, I need some Early Music, anything goes, I like renaissance dances though.
thank you.

Bartok is the only one worthy, he was literally inspired by all the B's plus Debussy

Bartok is pretty badass desu.

You answered your own question.

Pelztod

...

You can hear a lot of anticipation of Mozart and Haydn in his works. No wonder Mozart worshipped CPE.

i keep hearing about this ferneyhough fellow, what's the deal with him?

Which recording of Mozart's Sonatas on the modern piano is closest in style to Staier's fortepiano recordings?

Can anyone recommend me a good recording of Schubert's Sonatas?

I don't think that poll was a joke but I wish he didn't mock Beethoven's name.

you're not funny

chamber>orchestral>solo instrument>choral>song>chant>opera

He writes hyper-complex music where the score is essentially an "area of struggle" for a performer. Listening to his music is like tooking at a mandelbrot fractal. Each time you re-listen to a piece you can zoom in to a new area and discover new details.

completely and totally talking out of your ass
absolutely musically illiterate

you're not funny

You have that completely reversed, Sir Pleb.

Can you shut the fuck up you cancerous piece of trash?

lel

this cancer is starting to get toxic
dont' feed the trolls

Am I a pleb for liking Shostakovich's 5th the most of his symphonies by far?

With Schoenberg, the only things I can bear to listen to are op 4 & 5 (verklarte nacht & Pelleas und Melissandre)

Do you think later composers like these feel more accomplished writing something more complex yet inaccessible? Why?

...

Just a side note:
It seems to me that with art music, the most popular tunes and composers are usually the best.
Whenever I stray off the beaten path I find myself generally bored, unimpressed, and uninterested with whatever I find
It's not like the beaten path is super limiting so is this a bad thing?

>Am I a pleb for liking Shostakovich
yes

solo instrument > concerto > everything else

what is this meme?
are you guys just ranking your preferred instrumentations or are you (sinfully) saying that all tunes written in a particular instrumentation are inherently better than other?

/classical/ isn't very smart. They love to rank things that really dont require ranking.

I'm starting to see that.
I pop by here a few times a month and never find much
I thought I'd try and inspire conversation but I only got one guy who responded as though ultra superior

...

what the fuck is it that you think you know that I don't?
I do this professionally and I'm about 100% sure I'm more knowledgeable than you

all you have going for you is your own self-deluded notion of your "superior taste"
