Main things I would say is that we are ex-Soviet but not quite, unlike other ex-Soviet states Socialism did not quite collapse here but just evolved into a more compromised position with capitalism, there are no oligarchs in Belarus like there are in Ukraine or Belarus. However the President was elected in 1994 and has ruled ever since. Our country of Belarus has its own language, Belarusian, but it is only spoken by a minority of the population, most people speak Russian or a hybrid of Russian and Belarusian. We are famous for potatoes.
