So that we will be able to instantly recognize any foreigner no matter how long or how hard you study.

>tfw native english speaker and brain autists out so you pronounce shit wrong

>instantly recognize any foreigner no matter how long or how hard you study

Because they'll know English better than you do?

try harder

>Monkey, donkey, Turk and jerk
>All in the same line

Holy shit, never really reflected on how confusing your pronounciation can be

Fuark me, there are some words in there that stumped me

pay deads :D

all foreigners ITT vocaroo this NOW

if the thread is still alive when I get home in like 2 hours I will

WHY DOES ONE SPELLING HAVE SO MANY DIFFERENT SOUNDS ATTACHED TO IT, ITS RETARDED.

IF YOU FRENCHIES DIDN'T RUIN OUR BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE IT WOULDN'T BE THIS WAY.

BLAME THE FRENCH

the eternal frog appears

they are like andalusians, only pronounce half of the written words

The fact that two different words, lead and lead, have the same exact spelling bit are pronounced differently is already mongoloïd tier.

Makes for great poems and songs though.

Andalusians are the best

Stop replying to the schizo, he makes up flamebait

Swedish has the same, but with pitch accent.
it takes soo long for foreigners to learn it, and even then it will never sound as good as a person who learnt it from childhood.
It's the reason all foreigners sound "arab" (actually its just a lack of pitch accent)

Eh, never was into English poetry.

about fucking lead?

But which one though :^)

I'd definitely prefer to read six lines aloud wtf

There once was a man called Fred
Who couldn't get out of bed
You wouldn't believe
That he used to lead
But unfortunately he ate too much lead

It's time for revolution. English should've been banned.

bjutiful

There once was a man from Nantucket
I've never actually seen the rest of the poem

>Swedish has the same, but with pitch accent.
You mean tha Swedish has some tonal features?

We have words that are spelled the same, and pronounced the same, but have opposite meanings.

:^)

Blame yourself. Old Norse was one of the first languages that shit up Old English, right after Latin did. Then French, then Greek loanwords.

Thanks Obamasson.

Great Vowel Shift followed by 18th-century spelling and language reformers who all managed to make partial, minuscule changes.

It goes far deeper than that. We're talking nearly 2000 years, not 200.

I got halfway through before it started mind fucking me and I started randomly pronouncing words wrong

and he said with a grin as he wiped off his chin, "if my ear was a cunt i would fuck it"

stupid spelling like necessary is making me mad

...
