Is he still the same Brian Wilson who made all that beautiful music years ago?
Is he still the same Brian Wilson who made all that beautiful music years ago?
Saw him a week ago.
It was occasionally brilliant but also painful at times. He really did not want to be there.
Saw him in Chicago in July. mostly dull, you can tell when he zoned out a few times
I saw him at The Florida Theatre in December. I was really lucky and won tickets to the show.
I was actually really surprised at how lively he was. He talked quite a bit, and his voice sounded far better than it does from time to time in videos. He seemed super happy, and he especially seemed very happy with his band - especially Matt Jardine's performance (who took center stage as he sang Don't Worry Baby - the first time he was out front on the tour).
I prepared myself for the worst - but it wasn't that at all. It was a fantastically brilliant concert.
In fact, the only thing I hated was Blondie Chaplin. His guitar solos and showboating sucked and he seemed like a really annoying presence in the last half of the show. They didn't need him on stage. Plus he was wandering the streets by the venue after the concert stoned out of his mind.
Yeah he seems to have very mixed nights lately. Some shows he's transcendent other times he's just so out of it. I was just unlucky I guess. He's coming around in my state again in September (although an hour away) and I may see him again hoping I catch him on a good night.
I agree on Blondie. Bringing him out for one or two songs was ok but he did three songs at the end of the first set, and they were moreso songs only the hardcore fans were familiar with like Funky Pretty so the audience just seemed really baffled. His guitar was hard to hear and mixed down real low so he was doing all these wild solos that were barely audible and it was strange. He sang Wild Honey really good though, but he should've left it at that.
he still hears voices iirc
poor brian
I dreamt I met him last night. He was feeling really bad and couldn't keep control of his own head.
Woke up pretty bad, I love him.
The rich old assholes in the front were mesmerized by his guitar solos. I couldn't hear much of what he was playing - but what I could hear sounded like noise. I thought the low volume was based on where I was in the theatre - I'm glad to know other people had trouble hearing it too.
Interestingly - I met two old guys outside of the show that had Beach Boys records that they wanted Brian to sign. They already had the signatures of every member, including Brian's, but Mike Love had signed over the top of Brian's signature.
kek felt the same way about the Chicago show, they started playing non-hits like Wild Honey and Sail on Sailor and blondie was just doing 5 minute solos walking around on stage and it was weird
Where did it go wrong
blondie chaplin badly soloed for like 5 minutes during wild honey when i saw brian
no because he's going to die really soon
>tfw I was walking to class the other day thinking about brian and I started crying
kill me
I really think he will die before the end of the year
>sold his california house
>concluding his 50th tour
>memiors book coming out in october
this is it bros, see him now or dont
post the first five songs you've got lined up to play in mourning when brian dies
1. your summer dream
2. farmer's daughter
3. please let me wonder
4. don't worry baby
5. let him run wild
DESU, I think he's looked a lot happier the past two years than he did around 2012 when The Beach Boys reunited. I don't know about the current tour, but during all the promotional appearances and videos I saw of the tour just before it - he seemed more like 2004 Brian.
1969 was the beginning. Look into those eyes. The lights are on but nobody is home.
1963 by the looks of it
All I know is at some point after he goes I'll lose my shit listening to Til I Die. It could be that day or a week later or whenever, but I know that's when it's really gonna hit me.
>that 67 pic
really difficult question...
God Only Knows ad infinitum
Fucking Mike Love
Especially the pet sounds box set version with Brian on vocals. I prefer Carl's version by a bit but I'll be listening to that version for added feels emphasis
