Daryl Hall - Sacred Songs (1977) (320) >Experimental Soul, Art Rock, Progressive Pop Daryl Hall's first solo album. Features Robert Fripp on guitar and in the producers chair. The first part of Fripp's "Exposure" Trilogy. Finished in 1977 and then shelved by RCA until 1980.
Should probably check this guy out since I love Ka.

Definitely check him out he's really underrated. If you haven't listened to it already you should check out Reloaded, which is his best album.

Various Artists - Back from the Grave: Vol 1 [256 kbps]
>first of the series, fuckin classic >"Unlike many garage rock compilations, the Back From The Grave series focuses exclusively on the rawer and more aggressive side of the genre. Psychedelic rock is categorically excluded. The series also includes very few pop or folk oriented songs. As a result, the albums are primarily populated by louder songs that are characterized by fuzztone guitars, rough vocals, and are clearly influenced by groups such as Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, the early Kinks, and the Pretty Things. The lyrics and performances tended to focus on anger, lust, and cheating girlfriends, matching the often chaotic music. According to the liner notes, the songs were recorded by American groups, between 1964 and 1967".
This is one of the best compilations I have ever heard. I can't recommend this enough

thanks! there isn't a lot of appreciation here for Okkervil River and Shearwater. I will be seeing them in November, hopefully the show is just as good as when I saw them in 2013...unfortunately on the other hand, Shearwater was great for the Fellow Travellers tour but was a major let down for this year's tour.
Noah Parker
real shame what happened to these guys. This is pretty good

Dumping some Live Bowie
David Bowie - Stage (1978, Remastered in 2005) (WAV) >Art Rock, Bowie's second official live album Features Adrian Belew and Carlos Alomar on guitar. Has quite possibly THE definitive version of Station to Station, even better than the studio version in my opinion.
Shearwater - Shearwater Plays Lodger >Indie Rock, cover of David Bowie's album, Lodger; no personal opinion since I've only listened to Lodger once and it wasn't one of my favorite albums in Bowie's discography.
Shearwater is known for their early material which leans towards experimental, ambient, and orchestral folk, but with their recent two albums (Animal Joy and Jet Plane & Oxbow) and one album of covers (Fellow Travellers), they have moved to a more rock sound. Their sound is still distinguishable thanks to the lead singer and leader of the band, Johnathan Meiburg's voice, which is very Scott Walker-ish.
