For simply music I agree, but the residents really pioneered art as a whole with their image and art output. They were one of the first groups to make music videos, pioneered cd rom technology as well, their live shows were completely unlike what other acts were doing at the time.

All the pseudo intellectual dick fucks I know hate the residents or have never heard of them. I think it takes a certain level of humor and willingness to see the silly flaws in yourself to enjoy their music. It's not really music for people who take themselves to seriously I think.
