Yeah sure definately not her best songs, but its a good start

I'd chuck in Passenger or Change instead of Tempest or Beauty School desu

Yeah i might have gotten carried away with paying attention to their newer material

Larry Coryell

The Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory
Gleemer (The Deeds of Fertile Jim)
Big School
Indian Fables

Fuck, it's so hard to narrow them down to 5 songs. I only included early-mid 90's songs because that's peak GBV and where everyone should start with them. Also, when describing GBV it's necessary to include Tobin so I threw in Gleemer (the most essential Tobin song imo).

IMO Run Into Flowers is absolutely essential

i usually save or bookmark these threads or look for them in the archive later so i can go on discography listening sprees. yesterday i listened to tame impalas discography and also kanye's. i'll see what i listen to today.

Mogwai

White Noise
I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead
Kill Jester
New Paths to Helicon Part 2
Heard About You Last Night

That's a beautiful song, but I feel like if people heard that as one of their first M83 songs, the lo-fi recordings of Dead Cities would turn them off, as first listeners. Or give them an unrealistic perception of what the rest of M83's stuff is like. I probably wouldn't have liked Dead Cities quite as much if I listened to it first. I worked my way backward, but now, I absolutely love it.

For first listeners, and people new to Post Rock, I'd include more stuff on Young Team. Like, Yes! I'm a Long Way from Home!

My Tears Are Becoming a Sea is pretty baller

I was thinking of Tracy instead of "heard about you last night" so we're kind of on the same wavelength

That's a damn fine list. I think Cowboy Dan is an essential inclusion.
I'd say a song to represent their new stuff wouldn't go amiss. Maybe Lying in the Grass from PW.
