making albums entirely alone is not essential, and very few people are able to achieve that. only rockists pretend it's important, but their own favorite artists almost always work collectively, and are incapable of doing great work without massive amounts of help. that's why rockism is so laughable.

bowie is good, rock is sometimes good, but it is not produced by one artist and rockists only defeat themselves when they attack pop artists for something their faves do as well.

especially embarrassing in cases like steve albini shitting on prince or Sup Forums shitting on grimes, where a so called "pop" artist was producing their own work entirely while the indie and rock hacks being claimed as superior individualist artists actually needed to work with others.

Perhaps I should say that not many people can do it, nor is it extremely practical. Kevin Parker's ability to record whole albums by himself and make them sound organic is rare, and not necessarily a property that makes someone a great musician of this sort.

So it's not an argument to say Beyonce or Rihanna work with writers and producers therefore they suck, unless you want to say that about Bowie too.
