How to emulate glitches in a sample without any vst plugins?
do real glitches have more value?
can every glitch be replicated?

[>durrrr du hurr hurr prod thread stupid copypasta with a set of retarded arbitrary rules.txt ]
SOUND CLOUDS WILL BE IGNORED REEEEEEE
(w-why does /prod/ hates soundclouds anyway? pls no bully)
cuz god forbid someone might actually successfully self promote here !
What's the difference between self-promoting on soundclouds and self-promoting on clyp?
dkff.g.grr
i digg it; has a nostalgic feel. imo female vocals on top would really up it up
tfw everyone says that but i dnt wanna ruin it with some womemes vocals
You guys ever notice how that a lot of the not-so-popular JRPG animu games all sound the same? A lot in terms of music (mainly really familiar chord progressions) and software/hardware.
Really makes you think
because without vocals it's nothing special really
I meant in general, I just made that in an hour, ur right.
what am i doing wrong
>posted shitty first track last thread without getting feedback probably because it was so shitty
>feel hollow inside
Shit I guess I'm a fucking attention-whore deep inside.
everything
music
wtf i hate music now
clyps are anonymous, nobody can take credit for it and there's no value to views, likes, following, shares, etc.
anons get salty af about people who are just out to advertise themselves. i myself am pretty indifferent †bh.
check it out, almost 900 listens!! XD
kek
Just saying. Even tho I want to repost it again I don't want to annoy people with my shitty baby first attempt at making something, even if I know we're all anonymous. I mean if I had to bet, and taking into consideration how slow these threads are, probably most people here are the same than the ones from the previous thread.
Nah m8 I reckon you should post away. There's no need to refrain around here, content is what we need more of
Well I haven't heard it, so I'd like to hear it.
o-ok
It's not mixed/mastered at all. I need to sit down and learn the basics. If that baby shit is even worth the trouble anyway.
That's how you learn. Music is stupid. I too hate music. All types of music sound the same. Yours was just a yet another measly done prodigy clone dance toon with ZERO value.
You didn't even spend much time on it.
>prodigy clone dance toon
what does this mean?
i don't even know what im doing stilistically, im just trying to get a catch of how to make sounds sound better
>You didn't even spend much time on it.
I kind of did
im not crying doe, i want you to tell me exactly why is shit, i know it is, but can't put a finger on why
Yeah, probably worth at least mixing the levels right. I listened from my phone's speakers so I don't know if anythings panned. Might be nice to automate some back and forth panning on the drone sound.
no one here will tell you why because music is abstract and no one here knows how a piece of music is actually good. just ignore everyone here and keep making music before you also feel like music sucks and it's all just stupid noise that no one is *actually* listening to, but hearing instead.
FUCKERS IN /PROD/, always in them threads clyp.it aint bout this, clyp it aint bout that my boy a anonymous website to share music on and he, he, they say they don't have to follow the rules SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!
Y'all newfags ain’t know shit All ya motherfuckers talk about clyp.it is inconvenient clyp.it is retarded, why does it matter SHUT THE FUCK UP Y'all don't be in them threads Y'all know that nigga got caught with that privacy policy Shootin' at them governments and shit Nigga been on website maintenance since fuckin, I don’t know when! Motherfuckers stop fuckin' playin' him like that Them niggas savages out there If I catch another motherfucker talking sweet about CLYP.IT I’m ! I’m not fucking playing no more You know those newfags roll with Reddit and them...
hi milk :)
no but there's loads of people out there who can see things in ways i cant, taking the isolated route only leads to self indulgence
I'm not quite sure what happened there.
Ye, I know the levels are fucked, basses are too high. i spent a while last night trying to level everything for each segment of the sound using automation clips, to highlight a specific synth for the segment, ended up with a fucking mess that sounded 10 times worse and gave up for the night. I did do pan every instrument but I guess my headphones are shit for I don't notice a great difference (there is one, but barely). To automate some back and forth would be a good idea, I admit.
Thanks for the input, and just for listening, really.
is this you goodfriend?
exactly
i don't get it
me either tbqhh (to be quite humbly honest)
i like it
Whenever you create a new track, lower the level so it's negative 10dB or whatever. This gives you room to mix the levels later without everything distorting. We call this having 'headroom'.
Just keep making stuff and learning, you'll get there.
Thanks famalam. You're too nice.
Thanks mane. I want to kiss you on the cheek (no homo).
I made a loop that I'm actually pretty okay with, just not sure how I'm gonna turn it into a full song
clyp.it
Fucking finally a /prod/
Okay hey guys, basically
clyp.it
Gender the singer. Aside from that are the vocals good? Bad? Tolerable? Just I just run them though an Vocoder or a hard pitch corrector?
I feel okay with the rest of the track; I think I might go back through with my EQs and really make some cuts on the background instruments just to free up some soar sonically things feel a bit claustrophobic even though there isn't that much going on
What do you think?
Open to any feedback although the mix+ the vocals are my primary concern.
Also when you're mixing where to you peak lately?
I've started backing off my inputs to give myself ALOT of headroom, I'm talking 6~12 dB of head room and then really cracking things when I master them (or in this case putting a mastering limiter on the end of the chain when mixing and just turning it on when I print the track
It's pretty unique
Any /prod/ here into modular synths? I feel like I hear them turn up a lot in alternative pop and rock music.
i dont think it's that bad. just needs to be mixed properly. drums have to much reverb and guitars are to quiet and dont stick out.
i might be a little drunk but i think it sounds cool just maybe try and use more unique sounds like idk the claps and hi hats for one sound like fuck and the synth could be better again im a lil drunk so take my post woth a grain of salt my man but keep it up boi or gurl
Anyone else here wanna step a fucking mile away from the confort zone?
Sometimes i get urges to make some eurobeat, any tips?
Things i make usually sound trancy because thats what i'm used to do.
I think the bass is to much also the I think the vocals need work, or maybe the track is to busy?
this is to ringy f am
hi avicii ;)
can I get feedback on the mix??
also should I send this to young thug??
Guys how do I get NOISIΛ quality mixes and synths? Ha-ha.. Just use FM8 r-right?
did you just throw some drums into a resonator to get that sound?
I like this
>bass too much
Too loud or too active
>too busy
Alright that's fair I think I may just really create some more depth with the reverbs
>Your mix
I've got nothing to say that shit sounded lit af
Maybe a dip around 250hz just a slight dip to make it more clear but yeah.
>young thug
Disrespectful
Send it to Jeffry
Example?
used morphoder from the waves bundle I pirated hehe
thx
"kanye west" off of his new album is goat desu I like that he picks these beats that no one else would
Sometimes
In which case I usually copy some other song honestly
Oh when you say the vocals need work; what do you mean exactly
Is it an "somethings off but I can't put my finger on it"? Or did you have something specific in mind
Yes.
Existing in a vaccume is rarely ideal with regard to art.
Create
Get feedback
Decide how you want to use /not use that feedback
Start over
Thugger is definitely doing something unique; I'm really curious to hear what his "album" will sound like, compared to the mixtapes
>Anyone else here wanna step a fucking mile away from the confort zone?
yes but i can't afford hardware :(
recently i've been trying to use reaktor more often instead of using massive and drum rack for every little thing.... a change of pace i guess
>Oh when you say the vocals need work; what do you mean exactly
Is it an "somethings off but I can't put my finger on it"? Or did you have something specific in mind
since I think you stacked two vocals on top of each other frequencies might be clashing
When you play live, what do you do?
Do you put your laptop on and make the best from scratch ? Or just play the sounds on hardware where it's ready for you and turn on the sounds when it's ready ? Sorry I'm new and haven't played a show yet.
I set up my entire computer, as well as MIDI keyboard and guitar, run the whole thing through a stereo or PA, and play Super Metroid synth basslines with my right hand on the MIDI keyboard, and play my guitar with my left hand (by tapping) and have it run through a shit ton of effects, which I can alter on the fly. The FL effector is great for this, you can use a bunch of different effects with an X-Y graph control all at your fingetips.
Its just me and a drummer, works really well. Can chop and change what the MIDI keyboard actually does, from strings to gregorian chant style libraries (mars mens choir)
Preface: I play bass music.
I play in Ableton live, I have a bunch of tracks ready to go, mixed and mastered, like a DJ set. Each track has a bunch of loops and one shots that I can fade over to when I want to extend a section or create some kind of filter soundscape or chop up a beat.
I also have Max4Live Granulator II loaded up, and sometimes I will create granular interludes by loading a full track into granulator and using LFOs and MIDI assigned CC messages to modulate various parameters of the patch.
At various points in my career I have brought a Moog Slim Phatty on stage and sequenced it with MIDI clips and mixed it in with special versions of certain tracks (i.e. full bounced mixes but with the lead synth or bass synth muted, so the live Moog sequence could take the place of the recorded synth). I have also brought an Eventide Space and Eventide Timefactor and hooked them up through the send/return tracks in Ableton with a MOTU Ultralite soundcard.
I just ordered my first hardware synth: a used ms-20 mini for $350. Do I need to get an audio interface too or can I plug this baby straight into my PC? It has usb midi.
Could anyone suggest me some interesting VSTs/libraries with some wonky-sounding natural percussions and the like?
I'm looking along the lines of...
Soniccouture's Box of Tricks,
youtube.com
and Spitfire's Glass and Steel.
youtube.com
I'm currently unpacking the former, feeling pretty confident that it will suit my needs perfectly, but having more on the shelf is always a good thing.
are you trolling m8
youtube.com
pretty sure those squeaking splats at the beginning is a modular
The Age of Adz definitely has some modular stuff going on throughout.
They did an in the studio video recently where it showed them turning random sounds into impulse responses (like altiverb) and running sounds through them, so the IR is like a filter
also look at pensado's place: into the lair for how to make space and process electronic drum/bass sounds
>put 500 dollars of plugins in cart
>hit pay now but my mouse is dying and it double clicks
>it duplicates and spends 1000 dollars
>deposits the doubled licenses to my ilok
>tell the company that a glitch made me order twice
>"sorry we dont refund online items as there is no way of returning the licenses once deposited to your ilok"
IM FUCKING CURSED
Hey, I asked this in a different thread earlier but I think I'll get better responses here:
How does /prod/ feel about going to school for music production? I'm just starting out and I'm wondering if I can learn just fine by using Internet resources or if ideally I should attend school for this.
>dont wanna fucking remove every sound that happens during a kick
>want kicks to be loud
how do you do this shit without sidechaining? i dont like what synths sound like after adding the side chain in, it just turns volume down too much and sounds stupid
ps. probably making instrumental hip hop next. i´d want a 10 minute track up
I did a course on music production (basically electronic music) and the teachers had clearly lied their way into the job and knew absolutely nothing. When students asked them how a compressor works or how to use sends etc they didn't actually know and said a bunch of bullshit to cover up their lack of knowledge.
The only legitimate sources for advice are from professional producers and artists.
So best website of online mastering?
Abbey Roads Studios or Soundbetter.com (Freelancer)?
If you want a boomy/rumbly bass but still want the kick to feel large, try taking off some low end of the kick and adding early reflections/reverb to keep the apparent size while making room for the bass. Similarly, try a buzzy bass highpassed with subtle chorus the let the kick come through.
Always felt afraid to share my stuff due to how shitty it may sound, but fuck it, I won't improve if I don't get out of my comfort zone. I know it sounds bad mixing-wise but is it well constructed? Should I remove the vocal samples?
clyp.it
no :o
its really muffled and there isnt really anything memorable in it
are you implying that you can get audio through the usb because you can't
if you're implying that you're going to send the midi notes from a USB port and plug the output into a mic jack it's going to have a lot of latency probably, may as well get an interface. should really think about getting an interface before getting a hardware synth
you have to get good. and multiband compression
Yeah I was gonna plug the output into a mic jack. I've been needing an interface anyway for my midi keyboard, though. Have any suggestions for a 2 in 2 out interface?
how could i ever make anything remotely as good as this
or this?
you're trying really hard to be blank banshee
From listening to aphex twins soundcloud dump its fairly clear he makes music nonstop and most of it is shit, he just makes so much of it that he eventually stumbles onto something good.
my cousin has been using a line6 ux2 for like 7 years and i've had two 'pro' soundcards die on me in that time. so i know its reliable
you know most of his soundcloud stuff is like SAW era, not anything new
I know that it's old stuff, i'm saying there's a stark difference in quality between those tracks and the major release ones
You guys think TE's OP-1 is pretty cool at all? Thinking about picking one up
I had one like 5 years ago. It was a lot of fun, but I couldn't incorporate it into my MIDI set up, since I was strictly hardware back then.
I ended up selling it for what I paid for it, plus a Bass Station rack.
for that money you could get a korg minilogue and mpc studio
I already have an MPC Renaissance. I wanted something portable to play with and use alone to do lonely jam sessions when I do field recordings.
word
this fucking guy. he's so cool, he hates all music. it's all so subpar, it sounds the same to him. thats why he comes to Sup Forums, to shit on everyones recs or personal creations.
listen to this fucker, because only when you become like him, is when you learn how to ACTUALLY make music. god damn, my dicks so hard from all his musical prowess.
Is it just me or do people only sell second hand gear on ebay because it has some sort of fault and they thought you wouldn't notice? Every fucking time, I'm not doing this shit again.
If you just want it for something portable and fun, it's totally worth it. I had a lot of fun with mine when I was on an Amtrack for 3 days
Sucks that your gear isn't working properly but ebay has a money back guarantee if the product does not fit the sellers description. If they lied anywhere in the description or claimed it works fine then you can get a refund.
I've always got refunds apart from one purchase where the fault only showed up 6 months later because it was an obscure function.
It just really depresses me having to go through the hassle
Does anyone use echoboy here?
There's a really awesome 'tape stop'/pitch bend sound when you move the delay time knob and it's really different to env>pitch on a sampler.
There's no way of getting reproducible or similar results with an envelope or lfo, only moving the knob manually. I'm certain that this is the effect used on the chords on windowlicker, it really makes stuff sound funky but it's impossible to use without recording multiple passes of manual tweaking and splicing notes together.
Moving the time knob sounds unlike any other delay plugin also
Oops forgot to add does anyone know how this function works and is there anything else that sounds like it, here's a clip thats dodgy because the results are unpredictable:
play with FM on your synth, use the highest and lowest values until something sounds broken
also while recording unplugging the jack or xlr input will give you something if an arpeggio or chords being played
good luck
>pop
>wonky
help needed
what this user said you need a more clear melody to make it more appealing to listen to, the mixing is pretty solid
thank, did this and it really worked
this too
How do I make the Jimi Hendrix sound in FL studio?
no, you are completely right
in every sort of transaction, or metaphorical transaction, people are always seeking to win something, the way that this is not exactly true is when the win for them is that you win
