Not to beat the "I grew up on this" horse to death, but it went from "Wheels on the Bus" to this album for me.
Most stones pre emotional rescue is pretty good (yes even mid 70s stones) but 68-72 stones is god tier.
I was hoping to see the 'Seg in this thread, good shit user
Early Elton's albums were great and I think this one was by far the best.
>not dadblues
Underappreciated in the eyes of millennials, I think. I've been to two big concerts in stadiums.
1) Bob Seger
2) The Boss
Besides that, it's just been local acts and whatever bands I opened for.
Dadblues is welcome as well
>He saw the Boss live
Jealous
How was it?
I'm taking my dad to see him one day if it kills me
not him, but it is a must see
Bruce is an absolute god live, and isn't afraid of playing a lot of deeper cuts along with the hits and covers.
doesn't get much better than this, folks
and AB as well
Oh man, it was like seven years ago (still got to see Clarence), so I was younger, but hot damn does he put on a show.
He was like 45 minutes late, but he put on a three hour show. I didn't know everything at the time, I bet I still don't know every single track now, but for being an old fart, I don't think I will ever see someone perform with as much energy as he and the E Street Band had.
One thing I distinctly remember is that Bruce and his guitar tech would literally throw/toss the guitars at each other. I wish I would have been older to appreciate it more, but it was really awesome despite the tinnitus.
Seger was also an old fart, but was running, hopping, and dancing from side to side of the stage.
Good times.
>U2
kys
fucking checked
...
Saw him two weeks ago in New Jersey, he played 4 hours
Going in I already knew he put on an impressive show but wow. Unbelievable. Blew me away. Ton of respect for the guy
...
Righteous.

Electric lights orchestra
is talking head really considered dadrock?
I have never had the privilege to see Bruce. The best live show i ever saw was in 1992. U2 ZOOTV Tour. That show was beyond incredible as well
This, Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and The Grateful Dead - Anthem for The Sun
No.
I'm a dad and I don't consider it as such. Aside from "Burning Down the House"
Man, that's awesome. Really jealous
Not dadrock at all.
Meanwhile, Speaking in Toungues is because of Burning Down the House.
That would have been an experience. Right on, dude.
It's momrock
Sup Forums loves to hate U2 but their live shows were always entertaining ( I have seen them live 5 times)
As many threads in the last few days have said. They also nearly always had interesting opening bands. The ZOO concert I mentioned was opened by 2 groups. Public Enemy and the Sugarcubes.
Every U2 album before The Joshua Tree is great, I don't understand the hate
its hip to hate U2 based off of Southpark and the SOI debacle with iTunes. They were the undistributed biggest band in the world from the mid 80's till the Popmart Tour.

I"m doing a chart
I never really got into Springsteen, am I missing something? Why do people think he is so great?
Is it his voice? I do not care much for his voice.
Slipknot - Iowa is one of his favorites, does it count?
I'm seeing Bruce live next weekend and this thread has me fucking hyped. I'm on the GA floor too so I'm ready for an exhausting three hours of goodness
hahahahahahaha piper is not dadrock. dsotm is.
neither is that grateful dead album. american beauty is.
Pink Floyd overall is dadrock
Same for Grateful Dead
It's not albums, it's bands, I just picked these two to represent them.
From what i have heard Boston sucked live but this album when it came out in 1976 was everywhere. i bought it on 8-track and played it very heavily that summer.
intensity, lyrics and conviction in what he singing.
My dad likes Genesis, Bob Dylan and Supertramp, so yeah. Nursery Cryme, Blonde on Blonde and Supertramp's best record.
Boston s/t is a classic.
Is there an angrier pop song of that era than Born in the USA?
Also I am trying to think of anyone aside from Dylan that has had so many covers of their songs recorded by other artists. No one comes to mind that rivals BS for covers done.
This and Countdown to Ecstasy are both classic, but almost everything they did was great
Bruces Cover of WAR
I'm trying to remember all the albums i liked from my "le wrong generation classic rock" phase because my dad never listened to dad rock, he was more into blues and jazz. He did like some Hendrix, though.
He has a huge variety in songwriting in just his hits alone. The anthemic Born To Run and Thunder Road, the mellow energy of Tunnel of Love, the operatic Badlands, the melancholic Atlantic City...there will surely be something in his discography you will like.
Jethro Tull is dad-core in its purest form.
it's also amazing so what's the problem?
I was just making a comment. I love Jethro Tull
is jazz fusion dad rock?
Saw him at Fenway and it was pouring all show. Greatest concert I've ever been to. The energy and music is just unforgettable.

Toys in the Attic was GOAT era Aerosmith along with "Rocks". It got played a lot because of the sexual conatations of Big 10 Record and how teen age boys think. It was always played at all the keg parties i went to during the 70's
creedence clearwater revival
uriah heep
thin lizzy
Never heard of that. I'd say no
MY dad liked Mahavishnu Orchestra.
check that album out. It's really fucking good.
My father likes Jazz Fusion (and Mahavishnu Orchestra), I don't see the problem.
Jazz fusion, no. That album, yes.
Ok..I'm 55 BTW so maybe older then your dad. Is it rock though?
One more and the chart is done.
It's rock with a some jazz mixed in it.
Yes. It is very guitar driven jazz. John Mclaughlin is a name you should know if you're into good guitar players.
Do you like Soft Machine?
...
>tfw he switches to Spanish on "Veracruz"
Does Sup Forums like this?
Huh, old dude, are Yes and Soft Machine dadcore?
Again, Never heard of Soft Machine.
Love the Moody Blues but liked this album better personally.
Not him but Yes is, absolutely. Soft Machine is too obscure to be dad rock.
ur a shitter
What is this album called?
Yes Roundabout is certainly Dad Core
Folder
wow..that album is going back aways
So, yeah, NeverEndingChartRendering download button stopped working
Fug
Are you calling me a retard
Google does not give me anything
>Are you calling me a retard
I never said that.
Days of Futures Passed pre-remaster is a lower tier GOAT album.
Honestly, the lower quality helps the album, as do the fades. Child's Life made me cry.
saw Springsteen with my Dad last week Sunday.
at one point he was actually shedding manly tears. I will never forget that night.
TPATGOD isn't dadrock but the wall and DSOTM absolutely are. It's just too psychy and experimental to be loved by dads everywhere. If you wrangled up 200 people who "like pink floyd" I'd say maybe 2 are actually acquainted with that album, but regardless it's their best.
The chart was looking like this but Topsters 2 sucked cock and does not let me download the image.
Any other 3 recs so I can finish the chart? I will remake it in good quality when Topsters 2 (Never Ending Chart Rendering) returns from the dead.
Eat a peach and waiting for columbus and Santana should round it out nicely
My mother-in-law had this in her vinyl collection.
¿Momrock?
>Countdown to Ecstasy
Disagree with Countdown. Dad rock was about what was on the radio that prompted you to spend money on the album. Countdown didn't produce any singles. Can't Buy a Thrill. Pretzel Logic, The Royal Scam, and AJA all could be considered dad rock
Genuinely just really good jazz rock played by some of the best studio musicians in New York. Fire in the hole is my fav i think
Done.
Looks good.
As I said, I will remake the chart and upload it to the wiki (maybe post it here) when Topsters starts working again.
Kiss- Destroyer
AC/DC any album that got air play really
Led Zeppelin - Same as AC/DC although Zep was so popular they didn't always have to have a single or for that matter even print their name on their albums.
Thin Lizzy probably should be "Jailbreak"
PF certainly should be Dark Side of the Moon.
and i love you c:
it's Natural Gas eponymous
Anyone else think this is actually Springsteen's best album? Incident on 57th Street into Rosalita is in my imo the best singular 15 minutes of music, anywhere. The rest of the album is fucking incredible too.
It would be if it weren't for Wild Billy's Circus Story.
Id say Moving Pictures is more dad rock. Its got more of the hits and recognisable songs
Yeah probably I just love 2112
Based
>not even one talking heads album
cmon man
for millenials yes
>tfw dad was born in '69
