This. The EU's protectionism is what really helps Europe industries like agriculture. Without it there's nothing a country can do to stop imports of goods from Asia or Africa once they meets standards since even when many met the criteria to be able to export to an EU nation EU bureaucracy or other factors made the effort futile.
